I almost cried when Tellah died in Final Fantasy 4. I actually shed a few tears when Mordin died in Mass Effect 3. The Mass Effect series was of the few games that tugged at the heartstrings for me. That's why I will never understand why Bioware thought the endings they gave us were worthy of the series.

You know you have a great game when people can play it over and over and never get bored.

You know you have a truly epic game/series, when it can evoke your very emotions.

God this thread is making me all teary. How could people who write this good make an ending like we got?

For me it was Legion's death, calling Tali by her name. Then Mordin's death. So sad. I could never do the renegade one!

But this biggest thing for me was Shep and Garrus' goodbye (romanced.) God it made me weep.

Edit: This is just heartbreaking.

I didn't romance, just bromance Garrus, but this is epic cool "going out with style" dialogue:

Pretty much every line in The Hollows, and with the Krogan in general. Perfectly encapsulates the Krogan throwing off their old shackles, to win a new future for themselves. Of course, the music is just perfect.

"Enough! You can stay here and let old wounds fester as Krogan have always done, or you can fight the enemy you were born to destroy - and win a new future for our children. I choose to fight. Who will join me?"

"I will."

"And so will I. Now hold your heads high like true Krogan. There's a Reaper that needs killing!"

And Bakara's talk on the Normandy (incidentally, the perfect example of the kind of conversations ME3 sorely misses in most parts of the game - branching dialogue).

"Take it as a reminder commander, in the darkest hour, there is always a way out".

Thane's death.

"The prayer was not for him, Commander, he has already asked forgiveness for the lives he has taken. His wish was for you."

Legion's death.

"Shepard-Commander, I must go to them..... I am sorry, it is the only way."

Mordin's death. I think the one without the song it more powerful.

"Genophage cured. Krogan free. New beginning.... for all of us."

Javik's handshake was pretty powerful too. Well, every goodbye, especially Liara's if you romance her.
