I prefer the damage upgrade.  It seems to make the initial hit stagger, as well as the explosions.

Some of those sniper rifles shoot through walls. If a pistol is so overpowered why do I see all the snipers running around with sniper rifles?

Some weapons are meant to be outclassed by other weapons. It wouldn't be fun if all guns did the same amount of damage and didn't outclass any other guns.

I just have an issue with guns like the Eagle which is supposed to be a rare weapon being worse than a Predator. Or stupid stuff like the Wraith vs the Eviscerator, with the latter being better despite the description stating Wraith is a better but heavier Eviscerator and with the Wraith being an ultra rare.

I don't think you really understand how game balance is supposed to work.  Different but equal is the ideal.  Weapons all being relatively balanced does not in any way lead to things being boring, because relative equality is not the same as being identical.

Kinda wish they had left ballistic blades. The old version wasn't overpowed. Just funny.


Buffing the shockwave biotic combo's is nice, but doesn't fix the real problems.  A nice fix for shockwave would be to swap the top evolutions for levels 5 and 6.

I'm actually curious why they buffed the Centurion.  Are they gonna be an event target.

It's ok for weapons to outclass those of a lower rarity.  There are only so many ways you can make guns different but equal, and this game has ALOT of guns

There are far more ways to make guns different but equal than there are guns in this game.  Far, far more.

What are you smoking?; there is no buff for the Drell. Hell the Asari Justicar Adept has more shields then the drell adept and vanguard with only 3 points in fitness!

No, it's worthless now. I understand that the 360 degree (which it wasn't, actually. It was more around 270 degrees) glitch was simply that: a glitch, but 110 degrees is pathetic. You can have two enemies in front of you on both sides of the screen, and the "area" version of Ballistic Blades will now either hit just one of them, or, in some cases, hit NEITHER.

It should be 190 or 200 degrees to make it worth it.

And sadly the damage increase isn't really worth much either, so ballistic blades has now joined the Sentinel's net as being a terribly slow charging power that's not really very useful anymore. OR, in other words, stop playing Batarians everyone, as they've become basically pointless.

Played with my Batarian soldier for a few matches, and... sigh. Human soldier, Krogan soldier and Turian soldier are far, far more effective. So why take the Batarian anymore? A better fix would have been to keep the blades firing at its glitched arc, and remove the DoT. That way the stagger and explosion would still be there, making it a viable power, though no longer as crazy overpowered as it was (which I will readily admit. It was a "hit all enemies" power that did damage on contact, staggered, damage over time AND explosion damage. It was kinda crazy.)

but nerfing it so it becomes a one character power again... So now it's a slower firing Carnage variety that can't detonate anything. Yay :wizard:

Ah well. He was fun while he lasted. Go quietly into the dark, cold night, Batarians. Thanks for the memories!

So we can expect fixes now in a balance changelog? That's cool, so what about the dozens of other problems that need to be fixed? Even if it's just power-related issues, how about fixing the damn Justicar rank 5 evolution?

LOL, you are so full of it.  It's still a very good power, even if the arc of fire could use a little love.

The DoT is the most insignificant part of the skill, and it doesn't do "extra" damage, it's just dealt separately from the instant damage. BB does 80% damage instantly, then the remaining 20% over the duration. This made it something like 22 DPS on Cone+Range+Explosive (on a single enemy), 23.2 DPS on Damage+*+Damage/Duration - that's less than Pull's r5 25 damage per second to lifted enemies.

Staggers are horribly underestimated/underappreciated/underutilized, and they are what make BB so effective. Good damage was just icing on the cake. The DoT is negligible, which you do seem to acknowledge/realize, and all it's good for is preventing health/shield regen and if you manage to stack 4 of them on a single enemy (and keep them stacked every 3 seconds) using the pure damage/bleed variant it's something like an extra 92.8 damage every 3 seconds.

Note: All numbers pulled from memory of calculations around the release of Resurgence, so they may be slightly off, and don't take Cone's x2/x3 damage multiplication from hitting 2-3 enemies into account.

Even so, there've been arguments about Cone vs. Damage, Damage/Duration vs. Explosive since Resurgence came out, so while not quite as ridiculously good in every way (only balancing weakness being inability to fire over half-cover), it's still highly effective even after being fixed.

All the guns will never be as good as each other, because how good guns are is at least partially subjective (hell there are people who will argue that the Eagle is okay ffs).  What's boring is when there is a select number of guns that are clearly better than everything else.

ME3's (multiplayer included) weapons and balance system just seems to be a direct combination of ME1's and ME2's weapon/balance systems, probably to try to appease everyone.

ME1 - linear progression for both weapons and armors, mildly different weapons due to ROF, damage, accuracy. Some were undeniably better than others in the same class, and a weapon's X variant was always better than that weapon's VII variant.
ME2 - every weapon is viable and even roughly as good, it all came down to the player choosing what they wanted to suit their playstyle (not counting the Mattock ;P)

ME3, X is better than VII, but they seem to be trying to achieve ME2 style balance somewhat, so if you want to use a Phalanx instead of a Carnifex you can do so effectively, or a Graal instead of a Claymore, Falcon instead of Striker, etc. But they're still a long ways from reaching ME2's level of balance/usefulness, so it's basically just random weapons being "overpowered" or "underpowered" regardless of rarity. ME2's system worked just fine (until Mattock/GPS came out at least :P), but a lot of players didn't like how it didn't have the traditional RPG style weapon progression.

It's true that weapon quality is partically subjective.  However, people who argue that the Eagle is okay are objectively wrong.  It's a weapon with no redeeming qualities, which is outperformed in every possible way by other weapons.
