just throwing it out there what if the victory pack gives you early access or a pre-unlock for the one of the vorcha classes ( as they were mentioned in the post )

Hmm, I assumed that they just tossed the Vorcha comment into the event announcement as a teaser. I dont think they would do that though, since theyd be cutting into their own micro-transaction sales by giving everyone a free Vorcha.

ment more like a single vorch soldier 1 card ( will still need to wait for the DLC to use it ) and there are still four more appearance options needed for him and 5 other classes to unlock yet ... not to mention the geth pistol (just assuming there is one coming) and what ever other weapons they are tossing out there

I know what you meant. My point still stands though. People are paying real life money for packs to have chances to get the new characters and weapons, and its not likely that Bioware would cut into those sales by giving away the very thing people are paying to have a chance to get.

who said this DLC is going to be free ? and idk about you if it is going to work just like the last one  idk if i want to buy it ... i just  finaly got my GE 2 days ago.... might be a tad more motivated if i had atleast one shiny new class sitting there with the message  to buy said dlc to use

EDIT -- sorry done thread jacking

Thats a good point. If we're making a direct comparison, Victory packs probably have less than half of the contents of a Jumbo equipment pack. A jumbo equipment pack costs 33k credits, which is about as much as you get from completing a silver match. A silver match takes about 20 minutes. If you do the math, that means a Victory pack gives you less than 10 minutes' effort worth of items.

Sad.

If you understand how profiting from micro-transactions works, its safe to assume that it will be free.

If you understand how profiting from DLCs works in EAs eyes, you will understand this either the last free DLC we see or the first we need to pay for.

ok seriously done thread jacking after this ( also @ hellishfiend if this comment comes off af offensive it is not directed at you )
Oh I understand how it works.
And i understand BW/EA are doing it wrong.
what with the repeat character cards I am not going to spend anything other then credits.
Like with the aformentioned GE .. I know for a fact I have gotten atleast 30 Krogan sentinel cards ( since i decided to start counting them after my 5th PSP with a KS in it and two of those had the nerve to give me 2 KS cards in the same pack. and I don't even have everything unlocked to max appearance and weapon lvl X yet too

The microtransaction method is genius, actually. I doubt they'll change their approach.

By giving the actual DLC for free, they give everyone incentive to spend money, but offer a choice that empowers the customer-- either he can earn it in-game, or pay money to get it faster. The ones willing to pay will very likely pay MORE than the actual DLC would have been priced. And on top of all this, the "free" part removes the bad publicity and the problems with matchmaking that would arise. This way, EA makes its money, people don't get split up when trying to find a match, and not everybody has to pay to play-- though very many do. A lot.

Charging for this DLC simplay for the sake of earning more at the cost of losing potential microtransaction customers and hurting matchmaking wouldn't make that much sense at this point.

And you just proved that you dont understand. Please dont try and argue this with me as I am not going to take up the task of trying to educate you on it. The information is out there if youre interested in learning about the micro-transaction system theyre using to generate sales.

Are you seriously implying that because YOU are not in their target market for purchasing micro transactions that they are doing it wrong? That is some unmitigated arrogance there, buddy.

Then they better announce the change before Friday. I already have plans to play one of the other and better games I have than this boring beta multiplayer game, since I don’t see me dragging a group down to carry me in a Gold match to get that Commendation Pack.

Give yourself some credit. If you're capable of understanding where youre at skill/gear-wise, youre already a step above many players who think theyre God's gift to their team because they've played Halo.

well I am assuming their target market is people still playing who enjoy the game. and yes I bought several packs when i was still unlocking things and almost every pack gave me an upgrade or something new but as of late what is the motivation to spend actual money to get nothing.

How much money have you spent since you got everything maxed out except the N7s?

also did you miss the part where I said I was specifically not directing my frustration at you?

I do apologize for sounding rude, but you are misinformed on the topics you are trying to discuss and I am trying to help you correct that.

And to answer your question, I have never spent any money at all on packs. I just play and spend the credits I earn from matches.

I really dont want to go deeply into this since like I said earlier - the information is out there on the internet that explains why the microtransaction model works - but essentially the target market is people who would rather "spend" money than "spend" time (gameplay) in order to acquire a commodity that can be "purchased" in either fashion. In this case the commodity is the reinforcement packs.

The micro transactions will dry up faster than profiting from the DLC's Simply because people will realize at one point that the packs simply have a ****tier chance of unlocking anything new the more you have stuff unlocked. For example, i bought 21 premium packs last week, none of them gave me anything new. Not a single one. and i have bought now 6 more since they came back, nothing new either from those. catch my drift? no one is gonna want to use real money on those packs the moment they realize the odds keep getting worse.

Now lets look at the prewious games EA has had their fingers at for the DLC's. Batlefield series and ME2. They litelarry were rolling in dough just from the DLC sales. hell with BF franchise they make more money with DLC's than with the actual game, If they were giving random chances for random unlocks for people there people would not buy them, because they would realize, what only a handfull of people realize by now. spending real money to BW/EA micro transactions is gonna be useless. I remember how some actually wasted 200 bucks of hes own and he made a thread about here in the forums. He got nothing. NOTHING! past lv5 from weapons, averaging lv3 per weapon. and barely half of the rare characters appearances maxed. rest were around the pattern unlock. Think about it. 200 bucks. right when you begin... and it gets you only that far.

I dont know about you, but i sure as hell remind people about that scam whenever i can. Id rather pay for DLC's where i know what i get, than keep the rigged shop as it is. hell even a slight change in the shop mechanics might get me to drop a buck or few every week for the shop. but as it is... no thanx.

well if you looked at my manifest you can see i did not have access to reinforcement packs and had to get all my stuff from S&PS Packs

anyways I still do not see how a single "early access" character card would mess up the micro-transaction plan ...

and as i was saying earlier we have sidetracked this thread long enough ... Good Day and Good Luck Sir { or Ma'am N' if that's the case I blame your avatar }

Maybe so. I do get a kick out of seeing people constantly trying to melee a banshee all the time. Usually a Krogan. Lol.

Although I do prefer the Halo Reach multiplayer game to this stale attempt at anything. No random cards to unlock, all the maps are not small, no real bugs/glitches, no server disconnects, better variety of missions (game types) to do, no…. well you get the point.

Reinforcement packs is just the general term for all the packs in the store.

Oh dont get me wrong, I have nothing against Halo, I just used that because it's a very different game compared to ME3 multiplayer, and some people seem to think their prowess in another game should translate well to this one.

By your logic a restaurant has failed in their business model for charging you for food because you eventually get full. Does that really make sense to you?

I stand by my original statement that you are wrong.

No problem. I may just be a bit more defensive on it since it seems that mentioning Halo, Bethesda or a few other “touchy” topics turns people into pyro Geths around here. But true, they are different games requiring different playstyles. Usually these gung ho soloist types are the ones that get killed on the other side of the map from everyone else.

I have a feeling the next time I play Halo Reach, I’ll get killed in a second because I hit a biotic/tech attack instead of just shooting. “what happened to my turret…” Lol.

I've said it before, but... 3 million banshees is not worth it if the VP is the same as it has been before. The CP is the real reward - thus, if the VP isn't much-improved compared to previous it's not worth the trouble. Of course, since they don't announce VP pack contests, the only way to find out if it's improved is to get it in the first place.

I'm not home until late Sunday, so I only have time for the gold extraction anyways, not really any for banshee killing.

Oh what am I saying…. If I try Gold this weekend I’ll be doing the Firebase White/Geth Gold thing.

3 million banshees? You call that a challenge? Psh.

No but seriously good luck to us. Hopefully there will be fewer banshees the week after?
