i thought id pop in and give a quick shout out lol and bring up an interesting thought i had in relation to something you said a while ago about your Shepard feeling somewhat indifferent or not reacting strongly to certain situations early in the story as opposed to now. which i thought was an interesting if unintended parallel to ME1 Shepard compared to ME2 and ME3. Shepard in the game starts off essentially like a blank slate that you build a personality through conversation and actions and/or through projecting your own personality. by ME3 Shepard has a definitive personality in the way they react to things without a specific paragon or renegade interaction from the player. and with these newer chapters you can see the same kind of progression with your Shepard from comparing his reaction to being captured and locked by Cerberus in the beginning to going ape **** on Kai-Leng during the Cerberus assault. from modestly accepting a batarian smg from a grateful merchant to a talking chop with a batarian merchant to haggle a price of a sniper rifle. i think its a good evolution of the story progress and the writing. so kudos

@DarkPrinceRevan: Thanks! I'm glad that my characters are evolving believeably. Shepard is always a challenge to keep neutral enough to fit anyone's idea of MaleShep while being strong enough to be a character in his own right. So knowing that I'm doing a passable job is a real boost!

I've got a request for anyone who happens to read my fics- I'm looking to create a collection of additional content to complement my main fic, Into The Unknown. I'd really like to gather some fanart of scenes or characters unique to this fic.

I'm also looking for voice-based stuff. I'd like to make a few recordings of different things, including a sort of 'trailer monologue' for my OCs, much like the monologues given to Miranda, Thane, Grunt and jack with the FFTL trailers. Is there anyone out there skilled at voice altering who'd like to take a crack at this? I'd need a good male Krogan voice, a male Quarian voice, and a female Turian voice. Any advice or offers to help would be appreciated.

idk about voice work but ive been taking pictures of cutscenes and the like from both the ME2 and ME3 campaigns. since Falere is already in 3 i could scavenge around for some shots of krogans, batarians, male quarians, and collectors from the games that would fit the look of your characters if that helps any

I could always try putting a bunch of still images together in a video with the audio recordings to create visual trailers for the characters. I'm kind of feeling my way, as its frankly amazing I know how to do anything but turn the computer on, but I am always willing to take on new challenges. I'm just looking for different ways to enhance the ITU experience, and this felt like an interesting and new direction to go in.

I've actually just received something pretty awesome in this vein, so I may be able to put a link to it up here, if the creator of it doesn't mind.

Any suggestions or submissions to help put ITU on the map would be really appreciated, even motivationals or other images that the story inspires. Maybe like recreating a scene with images captured from the games or something. If any of you have an idea, I'd love to hear it.

hmm with enough creativity multiplayer characters could be used, they just introduced a male quarian to go along with the all the other hosts of characters.

In that case the only oneleft would be a Female Turian for Delexia. Mind you, the modding community seems to have quite a skillset. Perhaps some of them could be convinced to create some scenes for me....
Hmm... possibilities.

Cool work, DarkPrinceRevan! Its awesome to think that these guys are out there in the field now, kicking Reaper ass! As I said earlier, we just need a female Turian now to be able to complete the set! Oh, and a Collector.

i dont have enough stuff unlocked to do Jano yet and Bioware should do a female Turian in a multiplayer pack as a surprise because we have no precedent in game yet. heck while were on the subject that might as well do female versions of the salarians, krogans and drells to round it out. and a funny thought came to me a about the biotic airdrop, Jack basically leveled that hangar roof with a super nova from space lol

Basically, yeah. With some added inertia from the Normandy. I try to put in little things like that to be reminiscent of gameplay, but not confined by it. For example, with that scene I tried to create something any squaddie could conceiveably do with a small alteration to the details, e.g. a combat character would use their weaponry while a tech character would use their equipment. But then I decided that this really should be considered Jack's version of a loyalty mission in the fic, so I wrote it as though only Jack could do it and made it a little more fantastical.

yea it kinda reminded me of a scene from Dead Space 2 where Issac uses a rocket chair to hurl himself from orbit back to the station boosted by his rocket boots and he crashes through the roof.

hmm now that makes me remember Master Chief's little freefall from orbit at the beginning of Halo 3, maybe Shepard should get himself Mjolnir armor lol

but other Jack i think the only other person who could effectively pull that air drop stunt off is Legion and he could probably do scaled up version of the multiplayer Geths heavy melee to overload everything insight.

I reckon Grunt could have done something similar. He is basically an organic tank.

Also I have begun to call this fic's continuity the ITU-niverse. I'm treating this as canon and anything I create will be a part of this continuity.

Grunt probably couldve shot straight thru the station and hit a reaper, but hes riding in the backseat listening to Miranda critique the missions results to Garrus while wishing FTL was just a little bit faster lol.

but yea got to have continuity cause at the moment the last half of ME3 doesnt count for more than a few of us. heh guess thats why headcanon goes along way

Ha! You're probably right.

Now I've got to resist the temptation to have them branch off in a side-story where they never ctach up to the Normandy, like the lost cars in Cars.

As for the ITU-niverse, I'm actually going to consider opening it up for others to add to by fics and images, expand it a little bit. Once I finish the main plot, of course. Don't want anyone doing something that derails a character i had plans to use.

yea hes gonna be pisssed when he finds out while he was killing some two bit mercs Shepard and Jack wiped out a military space station bigger than omega. hmm i think all of them except Falere are gonna be bummed this missed the carnage or maybe Garrus will be jealous Shepard got himself a new sniper rifle and didnt get him anything lol

I'm actually tempted to change the Side quests to be between missions rather than along side them from now on because of that. Not only do some characters miss out on the action, but what if my readers choose for a squaddie to lead a mission, and then I decide I need him for the main mission with Shepard? I feel it may help make the chapters flow better.

as for Garrus' SR envy, I never thought of that! May be worth writing a scene about...

yea that could work, the side missions are always been apart of ME which is funny cause i liked the ones back in the first game more cause whats funnier then driving the Mako horrible over a mountain and run into a random mercenary camp lol.

Shepard and Garrus seemed like theyd just have some banter of a guns especially sniper rifles. and since Shepard is one of the few people besides a Krogan or Geth that can handle a Widow i thought it just seemed natural for Garrus to be a little green around the flanges. heh in multiplayer ive actually got that fabled three kills with one bullet Garrus and Liara were talking about, THRICE and once was a triple headshot all with the Widow and one bullet...

and thats ones thing i like that Bioware did with DA2 and brought to ME3, party banter among themselves. it helps the characters develop without needing it to all come from the main characters interaction.

So, I'm toying with a few more ideas while I wrestle with this newest chapter (slow going, but i'm getting there). One thing I've mentioned is that i want to create a few trailers. To do so, I'll need to craft a Male Quarian, a Female Turian, a Male Batarian and a Collector's voice. Does anyone have any advice on how to do that?

ive watched on youtube some interesting ways people have used the audio to make some hilarious videos, you could asking somebody whose ripped the audio from all three games for some help or a copy of the raw dialogue

I’ve used AV Voice Changer for a few purposes…it has the ability to take a voice sample (there are a couple versions of the SW so check the feature list), and if you say the same thing using a similar intonation, it can calculate the delta between your voice and the desired result; and thus the delta can be used to change your voice to (roughly) the same as the original speaker’s.

If a more ‘close enough’ approach works, you could try the free MorphVOX and play with the tone a bit.

I'll try these out! i've been using Audacity, playing around with it, but I'm no techie, so it's kind of fumbling around in the dark, really.

I have also been considering posting a small writing challenge to encourage other writers to participate in this continuity. Maybe an open invitation to have a go at writing some supplemental scenes for squaddies not in the main team with Shepard during the Battle of the Draktarra Plains on Tuchanka or something. Would anyone be interested in that?

P.S. I may have another chunk to publish later, if I keep writing like this!
