I'm really looking forward to this game. And that's something, considering I don't do MMO's.

But as I'm a rabid fan of TLJ, this has my heart throbbing at the moment. :)

(but I am a bit sceptical, of course, as Conan was the usual boring MMO, and I sure as hell won't play the beta if it's as buggy as it sounds - no point then)

I got a key from Gamespot earlier this week, but decided not to bother downloading the beta after a friend explained it in detail. Gameplay and customization sounds horribly mediocre; which is a shame. I wouldn't be surprised if Funcom was planning to expand the latter with microtransactions. They did announce those would be in late last year. The setting premise piqued my interest enough that I considered buying it; and I don't do subscription based MMOs as a rule. Goes to show how desperate I am for a good urban fantasy game.

If you're doing a game set on earth, it really throws it off if everyone looks roughly the same age, body weight, height and attractiveness level. I knew characters wouldn't look as good as they do in the TSW cgi movies, but I was expecting far more options in the creator.

This.

And the opening animation for Templar does not justice to the game either.  In fact the whole opening took too long to be as boring as it was. I almost quit but decided to plug through it and give it a chance. Glad I did.   The quest lines are actually decent with a fairly robust back story.   The environments are pretty damn nice too.  I love the houses in New England and they didn't skimp on decorating the area also, as though real people lived there (well, used to :P

I am *hoping* this is bare bones and that the character aspect of it is intended to be expanded at a later date after the bones of it is done.   Because there is almost more variety in enemy than in personalization straight from the character creator.  Sure, I am an alt-addict, but even I realize that this is pretty bare compared to other games out there.  And yep, the EVE character creator is supreme. Loved that one.  Now, that said:  BETA.   I withhold final judgement until then but it is a thought at this stage.  :)

This most surely applies to me and many others.

Did anyone else try the crafting system?

I don't have experience playing a lot of MMOs, but I've never seen anything like this. It's very well designed IMO. You can disassemble or craft nearly every single item in your inventory (although lower level "blue" items cannot be disassembled.)

You could have offered the key to someone who wanted it. :)

I didn't know anyone else who was interested except the one friend, and she already had one.

I know of a couple of people who just signed up via gamestop a few hours before the end of the beta.

At any rate, I imagine they will have a few more of these "beta weekends" before launch.

Well game is coming out 19th June, son IMHO they need a beta weekend every weekend from now on.
We have only seen a little part of the game and even that part needs some polishing.
And anybody found Social pane for friends, guilds and ignores? Am i just blind or the very basic of MMORPGs were excluded for this beta?

I played the beta last weekend. This will be interesting, because in the clunky state that combat is atm I see loads of difficulties with the pvp.

But I pre-ordered the game for the story and from what I've seen it's solid, voice actors are great and the setting is refreshing.

I'm in and still have a spare key, actually.

Normally I'm not into this crap, but because it's Ragnar Tornquist's baby I'm interested.

So conclusion after 2 beta weekend.

PVP is kind of meh. 3 maps. Stonehedge is a 3 faction death match arena. At Eldorado you have to get all 4 magic devices. The open world pvp isn't on a pve map it's a battleground. In all of them you wear your faction gear and get about 2k hps more than usual.

I finished almost all of Kingsmouth and half of the quest on the Savage Coast. Haven't touched Inferno yet but Polaris/Dead in the Water is a hell of a ride. And spoiler the boss from Polaris is 'Cthulhu'. Well he isn't named so but looks exactly like the one from south park or any other internet picture you'll get.

A shame that the investigation missions are locked this weekend. The ones who didn't get in the last times will miss some of the best stuff of the game. But most of all missions/quest are way better than 'Kill 10 boars and deliver their snouts'.

Cannot wait till early access. I guess I will be occupied the next weeks.

Early access has begun one hour ago. Anyone interested into a TSW bsn group or even a cabal?

I didn't particularly enjoy the beta, so I'm skipping this game. A MMO rarely sucks me in anyway.

Eh, I'll try it out. Looks interesting, and it's rare that you see an MMO take place in an area other than a fantasy setting.

EDIT: Oh. Nevermind. Past trial date.

Got a change to give Secret World a brief spin. 1st impression left me very impressed.

Some of the quests made this feel like most innovative MMO since 2005. Came across two utterly awesome mysteries. Solving them gave such rewarding juicy tickling feeling. "Ha! I solved  it!!!" is sensation you literally never get to feel in an RPG anymore. It's borderline supernatural and depressing it had to be an MMORPG that gave me this!:P

Anyone know how many "mystery" quests the game has, total? The two I found were enough to Immediately put pretty much all problem solving in more or less any modern post 90's RPG, single player or otherwise, to shame. Having said that. majority of the questing in Secret World seems to be same old tired BS TOR offered so I'm not as optimistic I'd like to be. Assuming these mysteries remain a significant game element  past the  start,  it's pretty safe to say this game is awesome.  Hell, I wish they had removed the dumb"  kill 10 zombies" quests all together and focused on mysteries.  Even the " Go gather 12 bear/droid arses, go!"  quests don't feel as tired as they well should since the game is set in [supernatural version of]  our world, our time.

The questing with mysteries behind them and puzzles was really innovative in this game. I see it being as niche though and not being very popular. It's cool how you can open google up in the game. The entire setting is unique too just being modern. That being said, I thought the beta was pretty bad. I've always heard how crappy Funcom's CS and quality control is and that beta turned me off. Don't think I've ever seen that many bugs in a beta a month from launch...

So yea, going to avoid the Funcom games like I've heard.

Pretty unfortunate too because the beta had some unique qualities. The atmosphere was also great..

Just curious, what was it in Beta you disliked?
