If you are on xbox just start a party and you won't have to listen to them, insta-mute on everyone.

You can easily mute individual players as well. Only had to do it once due to some guy with some weird audio issues (crackling and so on)

This is why I mute mics on my games. Sure, I may miss out on people saying constructive stuff, but it's a worthy sacrifice in order to never hear what other idiots say.

the misuse of homophobia in this thread sickens me. Homophobia means the fear of homosexuals. If someone is mocking one, or dislikes them does not equal homophobia. It means they are prejudice against homosexuals. >.< Sorry. I just needed to say that.

It's interesting because ME3 MP is the only multiplayer game I've ever played without experiencing any sort of offensive behaviour.

I have found this to be true for myself as well. I guess some people have bad luck.

I have a headset, I don't throw out racism.
And I am not sexist, I would actually prefer female gamers as I can listen to their seductive girly voice.
I don't call people rude words, usually

From wiki:

Homophobia[/b] is a range of negative attitudes and feelings towards homosexuality or people who are identified as or perceived as beingLGBT. Definitions refer variably to antipathycontemptprejudice, aversion, and irrational fear.[1][2][3] In a 1998 address, author, activist, and civil rights leader Coretta Scott King stated that "Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood."

Yeah, there is no need for comments like that ever.

No, it doesn't.

In fact, it never meant that. It originally meant a fear that other people might think you're gay.

I haven't really come across any rude people or any form of racism on ME3 MP. I haven't even heard any arguments or insults between European players and American players. I guess we have to be thankful that they are staying put in the COD universe. Maybe we have to be thankful that the store is not good and is keeping people away from the game.

Are people serious that they've never encountered this?  I encountered all of the above mentioned behaviors my first day playing MP.

But as far as I know, PS3 has no mute :(

I was in a match this past week with some knucklehead kids ( guessing they were teens ) making racist and otherwise inappropriate comments - one kid was from england other from USA.   Sad really, they probably thought nothing wrong about it.

@ryoldschool - I'm sorry you had to suffer through that. It's always a shame when people feel the need to be disrespectful to each other, especially over a microphone, in a game no less. I'm glad that I have not encountered any of that. I hope my luck continues.

@Maria Caliban That's what I did in the end. But I'm actually thinking of just starting up my own little blacklist if people are interested.

As an aside, this guy wasn't absolutely dreadful, especially not by the standards I've heard from other players, he was just rude. Screaming at people to rez you when you've died from incompetence isn't going to make me keen to run to your aid, especially when you use offensive terms to do it.

I never talk but I can if I need to.  If someone is screaming to be rezzed...I very calmly say "No".  9 times out of 10 it will be a Human Vanguard who was being stupid and ends up ragequitting - but who wants to play with someone like that anyway?

You've only real option and that is to leave the game/match at an appropriate time. And only inform people you trust and know of that person. You can not spread your opinion of that person to strangers, cause its an issue of his word against yours.

Eventually that person will find it very difficult to group with anyone but his friends if they have any. In real life society you don't get very far being inappriorately rude. The internet reprecussions do happen but it is significantly slower than in real life because its harder to identify the offending person. People who think the internet is a safe place to vent their frustrations or be rude will find very quickly it's not the case. Next time they go to a job interview and wonder why the heck they can't get the job even though they are the most qualified person applying, may find that company has done a background check on what you do on the internet. facebook being th emost obvious example.

EDIT: typo

I never use voice chat on PC. Mostly because you don't need it on silver, and most players are idiots with nothing constructive to say. You can mute other people by sending the recieved voice to something other than speakers or headset (I use the SPDIF port on my soundcard)

Actually the fair few people who talk in game I've encountered have generally been polite, informative or watching your back. Rude players have generally been in the minority I tend to encounter them on bronze matches beating their chest because there is a low N7 ranked person who doesn't understand certain objectives on some wave.

So what, you've met some idiots and now you feel offended?

The comedian in that video raises an interesting point; but to what degree do we follow this logic? To the point where anyone can do and say anything and we just 'have to get over it?'.

There needs to be at least the option to mute them or some kind of ignore function.

Is there some form of complaint one can put in? At the moment if I encounter idiocy (and by idiocy I mean racism/sexism/homophobia or downright rudeness) I'm just blacklisting the name and kicking the player whenever I see them (luckily I haven't had to do that since I never seem to see the same player twice) but I wondered if there was a system for reporting user names???

There should be.

Only been playing about a month, but I've found the headset chatter to be very cordial (though sparse). I've only heard one guy whining to his teammates during a match, and it was more entertaining than annoying.

probably one of the reasons why they didn't implement a chat system in the lobby,

oh think of the horror!
