I'm not sure I understand well the first evolution of Warp.
At rank 4, you have the choice between "Damage" (increase damage by 35 %) and "Detonate" (increase force, damage, and impact radius of combo detonations by 50%).

While the "Damage" evolution seems pretty clear to me, I'm wondering if Detonate means if Warp is set as the source (the first power used to make a biotic explosion) or the detonator (the second power). Or both (making "Damage" useless, unless you're the only biotic in the squad).

Well, it should be obvious "Detonate" means Warp as a detonator, but I'm still wondering if it works for both.

Thanks for the clarification :)

As I understand it, improved combo evolutions work both ways..

Evolved Throw + Evolved Warp = really big boom

It applies to both sourcing and detonating, yes.

So, yes, the damage evolution isn't too awesome.

I think it would be the 2nd effect only with warp being the detonator, not sourcing. That's not what the talent is about.
So warp+throw, or just warp on it's own the straight up damage will be better.
singularity/pull + warp, detonate is better, also take into account that even if you didn't have "detonate" and direct damage instead, your warp will do more damage than without it, with the direct damage increase and that damage still gets benefit from a detonate damage multiplier.

So if you warp + throw (or something else) a lot then direct damage is probably better, if you use singularity/pull + warp a lot and want extra radius on detonations, get the detonate one. ie your warp will hit for less unless you detonate something with it.

I got detonate as I use using/pull+warp/throw most of the time on adept, I only use warp+throw etc on armor (when the straight up damage would be better but throw still does very good detonate).

From the sticky:

The power upgrades for increasing combo damage (ex: Warp rank 4 bottom choice) applies to both setting up and detonating the power, but only some powers can set up combos. So for Warp, that upgrade will increase the damage when setting up and when detonating. Throw doesn't set up combos so its combo upgrade only applies to detonating. These upgrades do stack, so if you have both the Warp and Throw upgrades, setting up with Warp and detonating with Throw will apply both bonuses.

Okay well it might apply to an overall detonation, but not to the initial warp damage itself. The default multiplier will still apply to a heavier warp, it won't be as bigger multiplier though. So it has some use I guess. I don't know what the default multiplier is for combos.

I think its any combination. i.e.,

Evolved Warp + Throw = KABOOM

Singularity + Evolved Warp= KABOOM

In the official guide (I know there is some mistakes in it, but...), Warp rank 4 evo "Detonate" :
"This benefit is gained only when using Warp as a source power and another power is used to detonate it."

It's misleading to call an evolution "Detonate" if it doesn't concern the "detonator" but the "source".
