During my renegade playthrough of ME3 I noticed a pattern during the dream seqences. In the first dream it's just shepard having a nightmare about the kid that he saw. But, as the game progressed and shepard had more dreams, the dreams got darker with more shadows littering the ground. Also, later in the game you could hear whispers in the dreams. Just a thought.

Lotta people died over the course of the game. They add up. Just sayin. Also listen to the whispers with cc on. You will hear dead people.

The reapers are using shepards guilt for the fallen to slowly influence him subtly.
