I hope EA doesn't consider buying Projekt CD. That would be the last straw of straws. There would be no more straws to grasp after that.

CD Prokekt Red is a Polish company owned by CD Projekt Sp. z o.o..

I think it would be quite difficult for EA to buy them.

If I am not mistaken it's the other way around. CDPR is the parent company of both GOG and CD Projekt.

But this aside.

a) Love the Witcher franchise (books & games)
B) combat in W1 was... different
c) the game was buggy in the beginning
d) bought W2 on the premiere day
e) it was still quite buggy
f) it still looked marvelous on my mediocre PC
g) I enjoyed the game deeply
h) the ending was like a slap in the face. Surprising, but not dumbed down *cough* Casey *cough*
i) yep, they used Bioware's Aurora engine for W1
j) for W2 they used their own Red engine which IMHO has potential

to sum up: I agree that their games needed extended editions to become complete. I agree that they made mistakes along the way. Not one or two, but a bit more.
The only and yet the most important difference is: they acknowledged the fans.
I felt like I meant something when I posted on their forums. They responded to many angry allegations. Kept us updated with the patches and did a helluva work for making W2 a beautiful experience.
Not to mention my favourite: Well we see that DRM f*cks up the original boxed edition. So with the next patch we're taking it off.
BW would at that moment say: No, na-ah. Financial integrity.

I am a fan of CDPR. Because they're the indie kind od dev: small enough to stay independent, big enough to make games like the Witcher. And they give tons of stuff for free for all those who invested their money previously into their games.
Now that's what I call respect for your fans.

You are mistaken. CD Projekt RED was founded in 2002 as a development studio of CD Projekt Sp. z o.o..

In February 2008, CD Projekt RED's parent company CD Projekt Sp. z o.o. acquired Metropolis Software development studio, which was subsequently merged with CD Projekt RED.

But then on the other wiki, it has CDP Sp. z o.o. as a subsidiary, and then another CDP Red? As...a subsidiary?

CDP RED S. A. is a parent of CDP Sp. z o.o..

And CDP RED Sp. z o.o. is a subsidiary, which is the direct developer of Witcher. Or is it?

I have no bloody idea, there are like 20 companies listed on these sites and like 5 different CD Projekts.

It's Poland. You don't get to understand that. You just do the guy from Ancient Aliens.

But to clarify things up.
CD Projekt Red SA merged with CD Projekt Red Sp. z o.o. and CD Projekt Sp. z o.o. is a part of the CDPR SA Capital Group.
So in short: CDPR SA is the parent company for all other CD Projekts... :wizard:

Quite a novelty isn't it?  For a company to put out a game that gives fans of RPG's something to crow about and if that wasn't enough, they deliver a true enhanced version.  I too have this strange urge to give them my business.  Hmmm it's funny how that works.... :)

Yep. As it turns out all you need is some respect from a company. Then it is not them who want to take your money, but you who wants to give it to them. To feel good.
Strange indeed.:)

I hate "kids" from the "new generation" of gaming talking about Witcher or Witcher 2 like it's the best game ever made. They use it as a standard for every single game and it makes me sick.

I haven't played it and I doubt I ever will. Not because I don't want to, but because I don't have a 360 or a high-end PC and unless they release both games for the PS3, I'm not touching that franchise.

The game may be awesome(seen vids and reviews), but the hype that it's been given by their infant-like fanbase makes me embarrassed to be a gamer.

Replace Witcher (2) with Mass Effect 2 and you can pretty much make the same argument.

What people are talking about is how CDP and Bioware/EA treat and cater to their fans.

It's not a comparison about quality and number of games from both developers, it's their practices.

I believe that was already established.

And that they did a better job at fixing it.

Indeed,  they fixed the weak parts of the game dispite only really minor negative feedback, free of charge and added a load of extra content, and did so without being snide or condescending about it.  The impression i've got is that they love their game and want their players to love it as well, whereas with BW, i think they probably love ME (i really hope so anyway) but don't really care if their players love it just so long as they buy it.

W1 had some laggy mechanics, but the main drive was the story and characters. The world is even more adult than ME.
I ran W2 on Athlon II 245, 4GB, HD4850 and it looked veeery good. So no high-end PC there.

Their games are more vulgar, yet adult in many places. It's a good place for ME fan, because it focuses on your decisions, characters and the whole world changing.

Witcher is not for the infant-likes. It's based on adult books and an adult world. This is the place all RPG games from BW should visit somewhere in the future.

PC + xbox 360 masterrace here, sounds to me you are just being a fanboy.

They lack the funding to make a ps3 port, do you know how hard it is to do the transition? And not to mention the licencing cost for all the software...

Can be said about every hyped game.

Well just like fox news some posters here are ignoring the actual game in favor of blindly pointing to playboy and sexuality.
Raise the alarms they let a nipple show, right?

The excellent game is complemented by adult themes. But you guys can't get beyond...the nipple.

The irony of mass effect fans pulling a fox news.

So basically because I play console over pc I'm screwed out of ever experiencing a different stpry or having an impact on the plot?

Some things never change, but at least with mass effect 2 I had that stupid comic to still give my options in the game.

[sigh] Is there a save editor I could use for my xbox game of witcher 2?

Not sure what you are talking 'bout. The Witcher 2 on Xbox has the same branching storyline. Also there are a lot more choices that factor in to how acts 2 and 3 play out, it is not purely a binary choice, although the major choice is binary.

Witcher 2 has apparently an import feature which can alter the game in ways that people playing witcher 2 alone cannot experience, and witcher 1 is not for the xbox.

That is what is apparently going on with the game if the comments here are to be believed.

But it doesn't matter because many decisions you make in TW1 don't come back in TW2 or are retconned. If you choose shiani over triss, you still end up with triss in TW2. If you support the order of the flaming rose in their fight against the scoia'tael in TW1, you can still just as easily side with Iorverth in TW2. Those kinds of things. The import function really doesn't add much.

Hmmm, I never noticed. It also could just have been shadow aswell, but really when it comes to issues between violence and nudity, nudity is going to be higher on the scale of being an issue over violence. Has in the past and will always be.  As for violence in movies and video games. I spent 7 months in Iraq back in 2005 and anyone who was in hot combat zones will agree. That violence in movies and games is nothing like real violence. You can't recreate it, it's just not possible without blowing people up for real lol.

But yeah I get what you mean, sorry got off on another tangent there lol.

I wasn't being a fanboy. I just found out that you can import your game from Witcher1 to Witcher 2 and I don't want the same feeling of missed experience I got from playing ME2 and 3 without playing Mass Effect. Does that make any sense?. I wasn't very much aware of the costs of porting a game. I'M ZOWEE, EH?.

However... this is all I'm gonna say about the hype that this game has been given by their fan base.

I saw a comment on a "Let's Play.." video of KOTOR and some stupid idiot said " STILL NOT BETTER THAN WITCHER2". Can you believe the audacity?.

WItcher 2 does not integrate Witcher 1 in any way close to the way the mass effect series handle it.

Just buy witcher 2 stand alone.Go back to 1 if you want, but that was cd projects first major title and it does not compare to the greatness of 2.

I think the best way to put it is that witcher 1 is an above average rpg. Play it so you can get to know the characters, but don't expect it to be amazing...save that for when you get to witcher 2.

Ok I can get that......those are words that cause massive wars and above all they are blasphemy. No game is better that KotOR....that's a fact.

But I will say this, Witcher 2 is a great game so if the rumors of a PS3 port turn out true and you do get it later on I highly recommend you buy a copy and play it.
