So are we forgetting that CD-Projekt completely ballsed up their ending as well?

Nope.
But they handled the situation better.

No they didn't. They just happened to be making a port and let those who have the game get the enhancments. Do you think the changes would have happened if they weren't selling it on XBox?

Witcher 1 never came to consoles. Still got EE.

Artistic Integrity prevails and the CEO of Witcher Red Projekt can go stuff himself because as unfortunate as it is it does not change EAWare's opinion and that the CEO's opinion only highlights the Mass Flaw of ME3 that EAWare fail to acknowledge because they are too busy blowing hot wind into the faces of the community and forcing us to sniff it like Peter Griffin did with Meg in their car in the name of protecting themselves and failing to realise how terrible Mass Effect 3 really is hurrrrrrrrrrrhurrrrrrrrrrrhurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

LOLBYE.

That was the longest sentence, ever.

And here I was thinking after so many people falling on their faces after BioWare kick them on the quad that the mistake of idolize game developers was not going to happen again.

I am sorry, I love the witcher series and they are to be commended especially for that gutsy move with chapter 2 but the comment about the 16 different endings is a bit shady. It's true that in TW2 the situation in the edn will be different but as for the actual ending, there is not much more variety then in the 16 different endings of ME3. Maybe I missed the sarcasm here but if not, it's a weird comment. I was still disappointed by the "difference" in the endings TW2. Maybe they'll make it worthwhile in the third one but untilthen, I have yet to see any game that actually changes the ending according to the plot development throughout the game rather than because of a final choice. And if I say difference I mean more than deciding which character is walking out the door with you/

Like other people have said, come to me when CD Projekt has made a best selling trilogy, a popular franchise, and the best martial arts rpg of all time all of which are original IPs, and then we can talk.

I get your point, a little unfair though. They are a young company with less resources but have done well so far. They are where Bioware were 10 years ago.

When people are treating CD Projekt like the golden child for fixing a ballsed up ending from someone else's universe (the author could probably have cut them off from the rights if they ballsed up the story too much), I may be a little unfair but we have to keep in mind even Bioware games set in established universes have their original stories (except Sonic)

Are you talking about TW2? Seriously what was ballsed up about the ending? I thought it was great. My big problem with their games is they aren't polished. The balancing is pretty bad and just small things like how ity takes 10 seconds to walk through a door are where the game still has work to do.

ME3 on the other hand was extremely good for 99% of the game. The problems were on a much smaller scale than TW2. Then we get to the ending and it is much worse (assuming IT is incorrect) than just having one ending. It was just emotionally flat and nonsensical. I still can't believe that is what they came up with.

The ending had no closure and there were choices that didn't matter, no answers. A lot of people found it to be disappointing.

Similar to Mass Effect 3.

But, they took care of it.

Enhanced Edition was free for owners of Witcher 1.

SPOILERS

You rescued Triss (directly or indirectly), killed (or released) the Kingslayer, had the option to save the kings bastard children, stopped the circle of enchantresses seizing political control of the region, had the option of freeing Saskia or killing her. And that is just off the top of my head from a game I haven't played in a year. You haven't found Yennifer or got to the bottom of the hunt but I am assuming that ongoing theme will be in the next version.

There were plenty of answers and more than enough closure for me. Some endings were better than others. ME3 was the end of a trilogy and the end of Shepard's story. It is not the end of Geralt's story. That makes a huge difference in how things should conclude.

Much as I love CD Projekt and the Witcher games.

Pot.

Kettle.

Black.

It's not like the Witcher 1 and 2 didn't both need an extended edition to truly fulfill their potential. Bioware is doing that, so everyone should go their merry way, right?

The Witcher 2 Enhanced edition adds about 4 hours of gameplay and cinematics, I doubt ME3 Extended cut will add more than 5 minutes of explaining space magic and shoveling in some dirt into those massive plot holes.

TW2 EE polishes an already great game with more goodness while ME3 EC tries to explain an ending noone understands.
It's kinda like CDPR polishing their gold brick while BW is poishing the turd that is the ending...

There's a big difference between adding stuff to make the game fulfill its full potential, and having to explain what the heck just happened.

Anyways, I'm hoping the extended cut will make the ending bareable, because I really want to go back to loving ME again.

Nice of you to be so optimistic. So you think they need 3-4 months just to make 5 minutes of content?

On the other hand, it's true that whatever content they make for the EC will be heavily diluted by the player's choices: If they make 4 hours of total content, we may only experience 1 hour of that or less in a single playthrough.

So? For you. For you doesn't make it wrong for the people who thought diffirently.

Tons of people were disappointed with the ending and the dragon sucked.

CDPR listened to fan feedback and revised the ending.

"Witcher 2 ending disappointing" is a suggestion when you type in "witcher 2 ending".

As much as I can't get myself to like The Witcher series, I have the utmost respect for CD Projekt, they treat their loyal fans like BioWare used to.

The problem is so many people are starting at witcher 1 thinking the games are like mass effect.

Witcher 1 is not nearly as good as witcher 2. Its a good game for its time, but it never compared to the great rpgs out there.

I encourage newbies to just start with witcher 2. The story has no connection that they dont explain away in the first 5 minutes.

Witcher 2 is what elevated the franchise to the top tier.

The Witcher 2 EE on Xbox 360 is a great looking game with beautiful music, decent voice acting, and has an interesting world,  but try as I might I can't get into it. I think the story is very hard for me to get into, and I generally don't find Geralt all that interesting of a character. He's the standard amnesiac warrior whose past is tied into the current events.  I find the combat very annoying, and story hard to follow at times.

Difference with a typical "amnesiac warrior" is that they dont know who they are and most of the time others dont know who that warrior is.

But Geralt does have a past and most important people in the game know him, I think it is done for the players who didnt read the books, we are finding out who is Geralt. The Witcher 1 introduced me to Dandelion and Zoltan. At first I didnt like Dandelion but it became clear how much he cared for Geralt.

Sorry, but I don't find Geralt interesting. He fails to make me give a damn about him at the beginning, I find the NPCs more interesting but I don't feel anything for Geralt and it's hard for me to play and enjoy an action RPG video game where I don't feel connected to the character that I'm playing.

I found the Witcher 2 absolutely amazing....very few games over the years had me so interested....not even BioWare's DAO.....the whole plot with the wild hunt and some of the things we discover about Geralt in relation to it had me digging for the smallest clues. The only bad thing is that now I have to wait for Witcher 3 to learn more....damn it. At leas I found out where Yennefer is so I'll be looking forward to that bit.

Hard to say about PC controls because I don't know but on the 360 I really enjoyed the combat too.....even Dark Difficulty where I'd occasionally have my ass handed to me on a silver platter was enjoyable.

In the mean time you could read the books. I actually didn't like Geralt when I played the first game, then I read the books and now I really enjoy his character.

What are the names of the books? I have to wait a bit before I get them as I'm in the process of moving back to the US so address change and all that so I'll try to find them in bookstores there and if not I'll order online.

Witcher series is good for what it is, Mass Effect is however on a different level. If the shoe was on the other foot Ray Muzyka can tear apart CD Projekt for all kinds of stuff too.

The only thing I don't like about CD Projeckt RED is the fact that they keep bringing up WItcher series in every, single, interview they do. I know it's a great game (I've played it several times) but seriously. We know your stuff is good, quit comparing everything from Skyrim to Mass Effect to it.

Why not? Witcher is hands down better than Skyrim and depending on the EC it could potentially turn out to be a trillion times better than Mass Effect....it certainly is now.

Only The Last Wish and Blood of Elves by Andrezej Sapkowski are translated into English right now. I think more of the series will be translated soon.

The video game series is based off of the book series in case you didn't know.

That's a switch I didn't expect....game related books are usually written to fit the game. I heard of movies based on books but never of a game based on a book before this. Still it ought to be interesting with miltiple choices and player driven story.

Didn't like how Letho made Yennifer(spelling?) sound like nothing special after the lore established her as a major figure in Geralt's past.

Clearly not because only one of the two was lying......hint, it wasn't CD Projekt Red's CEO....

This thread is the reason why EA plunders our wallets with day one DLC. People who don't even know or care about game design difference all herding into one thread to shout their distaste for the masses.

Really comparing TW2 to Skyrim or ME and saying it's better is beyond the height of stupidity.

I've never played the Witcher games, partially because the whole focus on porn turns me off and partially because I already have lots and lots of playing to do simply with the games I have before considering new stuff, so I don't really have an opinion on them.

It does annoy me, though, that a lot of the Witcher fans here tend to make comments like "ME sucks horse dong, TW is the savior of humanity."

Hyperbole, but they tend to bash BW pretty indiscriminately, which is unnecessary.

I can clearly understand the differences but those are beyond the point....the point is that as a customer I will always buy the games from a company I can trust and that will provide me the most enjoyment. CD Projekt red has been incredibly generous and reasonable....hell I can get the PC version FREE just because I bought the 360 version....without DRM!!! And their game is one of the very best I played in nearly a decade. EA can try to keep going for cheap attempts to plunder our pockets as you put it but plain and simply I'll be done with them. BioWare is in a very precarious position because they lied and plundered us for money and then they completely failed to deliver. Companies like CD Projekt red clearly prove that we the players DO have options and Bethesda while never as generous as CD Projekt Red has always delivered both quality and quantity for what the gamers paid.....so from this point of view it is far more than reasonable to compare these three games.

I can compare a racing game to Mass Effect if I want and call it better....why? because as a gamer that is MY prerogative NOT yours nor EA's nor BioWare's....what I am comparing is the enjoyment provided and whether it was worth my time and money.

But ultimately the comparrison really isn't that wild....all three games fall within the same genre....western RPGs. What I ultimately choose is which of these games is most worth my next 100 hours og gameplay and $100. I may not have the time for all three or one may not feel like it's worth my time...I also know people that don't have the money for all three....almost every fan has friends and tells his/her friends how good/bad a certain game may be....this ultimately makes a huge difference and generates or costs them a lot of sales. EA and BioWare can keed doing what they've been doing but it will be their downfall.
