Another poll taken. I really hope that Bioware is paying attention to these.
Yep, good news on that front, got a tweet back from Jessica Meriza: she read it!
I'd still like to get some more votes in, especially from Xbox users (currently underrepresented).
By the way this poll is meant for Retakers and Pro-enders alike, it's useful to get both perspectives.

I mean seriously, BW, why create the survey? Was it to gauge the "how to avoid pissing off the masses next time" likelihood? Something else? Clearly it wasn't to read real frustration and anger and therefore correct the weak, errrr I mean "unique" endings you created.
Bioware didn't create any survey. This one and all other surveys out there are fan creations.
So far the most talkative people in the ME team would be Chris Priestly and Jess Merizan, whom I've both found attentive and easy to talk to. Mike Gamble has also been active on twitter and on the holdtheline.com forum, but his posts tend to be a bit cryptic.
Jessica has made it clear that they aren't allowed to discuss the ending directly until an undisclosed date: possibly to avoid a repeat of the "killed by twitter" incident.

EDIT: I see we have to take it again. That makes it a lot harder to shore up a significant sample size...
Honestly, I'm surprised. EVERYONE would be happy with a text-based blurb deciding the distant future of their romance and friendships? Not just reuniting with Shepard (if that even happens), but the whole shebang? To me that sounds terrible.
Thanks for taking the time once more. To be honest the revised survey doesn't seem to trend very differently from the old one so filtering out the old results wasn't really necessary. The votes for "Must" options have stayed pretty much the same, it's mostly some of the "Indifferent" votes that have switched to "I like".
Actually I'm seeing the "blurb" option as something kind of like DA:O. I think that's what most people have in mind. I think it would be very weird if the EC gave us a look into the far future of the ME universe. Should be a few days/weeks at the most. Some things like curing the genophage won't play out for several decades yet, maybe centuries. It would feel weird to give all the answers to that in the EC. But apparently I'm in the minority to think that.
Thanks Ardensia for your work on the stats, I saw that this evening as I came back from a weekend out. I'd been meaning to try separating votes by favourite ending.
- People who chose "destroy" hate the ending the most: 1.90/5. People who chose "Control" hate it the least: 2.44/5 (but sample size is still small)
- People who favour "Synthesis" have the best overall opinion of the game 3.71 vs 3.30 average.

killed by twitter?
That's when someone from Bioware (I think that was Merizan) apparently confirmed on Twitter that all or most of the people who were on the Citadel are probably dead (That was actually her personal interpretation but people took it to be the official line). Priestly and Gamble later posted different opinions.
Now they're being more careful about posting that kind of thing.

Well... Bye bye Aria T'loak. Thanks for the small army.
Actually I'm fairly sure they are going to address that point in the EC. I don't care so much about Aria but I did like Bailey. It's unlikely that he gets a happy ending, that's just not his style, but just knowing what happened to him would be nice.

Yeah, no problem. I'll see if I can't pull some other stuff, too, but I'm kind of in the middle of having a busy weekend right now, so it will have to wait a bit.

Mac Walters himself implied that most of the residents died. He said that a few were able to make it off before the arms closed, but for most it was "bad times". And if Mac's word isn't official, I don't know what is. :-)
At PAX, Patrick essentially retconned this by stating that you should assume most everyone lived (if people died, they wouldn't be "plot" characters, just random nobodies). Both when the Citadel was taken and then when the arms broke off after the final explosion.
Jessica probably speculated eariler that not everybody died, but as you note, her Twitter is entirely fan-fiction.

I prefer it (and you're almost back to the old total no. responses anyway).Zolt51 wrote...

I know I voted twice on the last one (both to see if it was blocked and because you kept changing things, making my earlier response incomplete).
If the old results were kept, that would have been three separate responses from a single user. (And there's no way to tell how many other repeat takers there were or currently are.) That just isn't a worthwhile situation, for anybody.
Now I have only one response that counts, as it should be.

If the vote numbers keep going up, a few double responses shouldn't be a problem. I'm going through the results a lot and it's actually hard to find any instances of people voting exactly the same, or even 90% the same. A LOT of people write comments too, so I'm quite confident they're taking the survey in good faith.
Unlike other surveys, it's not like this one was a pissing contest between retakers and pro-enders, so no one really has any interest in falsifying the results.

*edit* may continue bumping this thread not just for great justice, but for solid feedback for Bioware and statistics for naysayers and supporters alike.

Yep, thanks for bumping. We're getting at least 30 new votes every time this thread goes back on the front page.
I've also seen an influx of people from other sites answering (now around 20% of answers), I'd be interested in knowing which sites these are just so I can pop in and say thanks.
By the way about the "artistic vision" thing in your sig, I've always taken it to be a PC euphemism for "That's the way we like it and we don't wanna change!". I think North American English uses a lot of these, it can be a bit hard for Old Continent types like me to translate.

Ah well, it's all good. The point in my sig is that although video games may fall under the many definitions of "art" excluding fans out of the proverbial "conversation" in pre-development and post-release phases can only lead to disaster for the video game developer, in sales, PR, reputation and raw feedback.

Fighting Reapers conventionally - we've had the normandy for what? 3-4 years now? Why has'nt the alliance made another "Normandy" class frigate? MAKE MORE NORMANDY class FRIGATES!!!!! (f*cking noob alliance leadership)
IIRC, the Normandy is many things, but cost effective it isn't. It's a good ship for a Spectre: fast, stealthy, agile, and able to deliver a heavy punch when we really need it, but it's not the best ship for battle. It basically costs as much as a Dreadnought class ships, which in turns packs a lot more firepower.
However it's true that dreadnought class rely on being able to take a beating while still firing back. This simply doesn't work with the Reapers as they can 1-hit anything. So it would indeed be better to make many smaller ships. Fighters and the like however, lack the firepower to damage the Reapers, so a class of cheap frigates that are entirely dedicated to taking down capital ships would be cool. Sadly, the Alliance's political leadership hasn't been willing to change its doctrine until it was too late.
The Turians in comparison are doing a bit better, probably because of their belief in Really Big Guns above everything else.
