The problem is there is no investigate.
Well, dialogue with Catalist's Avatar is actually Investigate. But this "Investigate" is far too short and blurry right now...
Why did I find this post again? It sticks like a tick. Anyways, the only investigative dialogue with Starbrat is all auto. That is the problem. The player doesn't get a wheel to choose the questions to be asked. Instead, Shep spouts them on her own. This really bugged me in the last scene since I felt my Shepard had suddenly broken my puppet strings and conformed to Bioware's one image of her. She was no longer mine or the character I had created. The story emersion broke for me here.

Not only for you... And I'm sure BioWare managed to understand that.

To me that is the point when the DM(Bioware) shifts the DMing to you, in a way it is a bit meta, but sloppy. As the PC you investigated everything and you charaters knows all it could. As the DM you know nothing and you need to finish the story the scraps you know from some notes.
Agreed, BioWare shifted DMing to us with current ME3 endings. Hopefully, Extended Cut will fix that.
If I'm supposed to be DMing, then I need the control and tools of a DM. If they'd given us a dialogue wheel for the Star Kid, maybe.

Good Job BioWare! *sarcasm*
I think this is what they meant by "they wanted to make the ending symbolic"

However, sometimes the 'bad' thing to do is also the right thing to do. I can play full paragon all the way through and still shoot the dog at the end.

Bit late coming into it but my thoughts on control being paragon: it is. Destroy is renegade.

Yes, ME Trilogy has many examples where Renagade choices lead to Paragon consequences. It's ok...
...But I think Control is not just Paragon option, but also the option that leads to the Perfect ending. It's not surprising actually. Because most Paragon choices in ME Trilogy are the best choices.

That is the thing though, all they did was just say here your DM now, and give you no real tools on how you would shape it. They made you the god-like being without being god-like.
