I know the Turian Sentinel is among the most customizable to one's own playstyle, but I'm having a little trouble choosing a weapon. Ideally I'd like to try them all but unfortunately I don't even have them unlocked at this point. Also, I want to be competent in Gold. As it stands with my weapons, I generally come in just shy of second, getting more assists than anything and under 75 kills per game. More of an assist class than killer, and I can draw fire off the group and take a few hits coming to the rescue when needed.

My dilema is choosing between an Avenger, Phaeston, Mattock, and Geth Pulse Rifle.

Avenger is light but a little weak. It does have amazing stability due to the Turian racial.

Tried the Revenant VI, hated it.

Don't even have the Phaeston to compare.

I haven't tried the Mattock I on my Sentinel but it's too low level to really judge it accurately. I'm gonna try a match with it for sure but am leaning more towards a bullet-spraying beast than the feel of this rifle. Who knows though, it may just be the one for me.

Geth Pulse Rifle...Every thread I've read doesn't even seem to list this one as a decent choice. I'm confused as to why that is. The mag size is nice and damage doesn't seem too low. Maybe I'm missing something obvious here.

Would like to try the Saber but you know how that goes. All my time playing and I only have 1 Ultra Rare, and it's a Shotgun...too CQC for my liking. I tend to stay further back in firefights(I naturally play a sniper in everything but really want to branch out).

And while I'e got you here, can I get your opinions on weapon mods? Is the Stability Damper necessary with the Turian racial ability? Is the Piercing Mod more useful than the Extended Barrel?

Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate opportunities to learn and become a bigger asset in the multiplayer community!

personally i would use the Mattock in with what you got. Stability wont be an issue and 2 options.
Piercing mod+ Extended barrel
or
Scope mod + Piercing mod

Turian Sent is the jack of all trades

I Use Carnifex X but thats just me.

I know you gave us your choices, but my Turian Sentinel is ten beasts and a half with a Hornet. Can't really recommend much else.

For the weapons on your list, I like the Mattock the best. It's fairly light, it can score headshots at a good range, and it's got nice damage per bullet. If you have it, I also find the Hornet to be really good as well, though it can have considerable recoil if you aren't in cover.

For mods, on the Mattock Piercing vs Extended Barrel is close. The damage at which Extended Barrel becomes better against even armour is 130 damage per bullet. The Mattock does 117.8 at X rank(94.2 for your rank I). At the lower ranks I would probably run Piercing + Scope, but as you get it levelled up a bit you could consider switching to the Extended Barrel as it gives a damage boost for everything and not just armour, unless you really love the cover piercing of the AP mod.

The Sabre is also half Assault Rifle half Sniper Rifle. It's not CQC at all.

I meant my 1 Ultra Rare is a shotgun, not the Saber. Thanks so far for the info, and I didn't mean to limit my choices to just that list. Those were the ones I see most talked about. I think I have the Hornet, and might try that one out too!

Depend on how you play your Sentinel.

Caster or Shooter/Tank with occasional debuff?

If you play Caster - from your list just use Mattock if you want to kill on target at a time, it's light/good damage/low recoil.

Phaeston offer less damage but on Silver it's OK - you will need Incen/Cryo/Disruptor since the faster ROF will allow you to apply the effect to multiple enemies

Hornet is crippled against armored enemies since SMGs have no AP mod. With AP ammo this thing stings like Ali's fists.

Revenant....you need this giant at high lv with AP mod with COVER burst fire to do damage. If you like a a laser gun - slap a stability mod on it. I, personally, still can't find a a use for this tonnage class AR.

I pretty much take down all shields and barriers, focusing on the more difficult enemies first. While I usually don't get the kill shot, I do prime everything for death by sniper. To simplify, I shoot the big bad guys and use Overload(spec'd for pure damage, no cc) whenever it's off CD.

I gave the Mattock and Hornet a try, and don't care for them on my Sentinel. I did try out my Locust, and love the accuracy and lack of kick.

The Avenger is the most verstatile, low-weight weapon in the entire game BUT the Phaeston is a Avenger in every aspect but better. The Phaeston has a great rate-of-fire, is reasonably accurate and if you slap a magazine mod, it fires for DAYS.

I love my Tempest X with damage mod and extended clip. It's got a little kick but once you get used to it, it is great for crowd control. Especially if you have disruptor ammo, you can lay into an enemy and then use overload and set off a tech burst.

Of the ones you've listed: Mattock.

If firing at 450RPM is hard or just plain uncomfortable, try Vindicator or Hornet.

I use my Turian Sentinel as a support class for crowd control. I use a Falcon to get reliable staggers, and with the weight reduction on assault rifles, Chain Overload is still spammable. This gives me two methods of crowd control. Basically just staggering all the small enemies and painting bigger enemies with warp for the debuff.

I rock the Saber on my TS, or a Carnifex and Avenger

If you play based on Overload/Warp spam to keep enemies in CC take a light weapon. Currently one of the best weapons for this is the Hurricane, very high damage, good capacity with both clip mods and light weight. Max up stability, add some AP ammo to deal with armored foes on the blink of an eye, or Disruptor Ammo for endless Tech Bursts triggered by your Overloads. I played a lot in the last days with this setup and it worked very well. In fact, worked so well that things got to easy for my Turian Sent and I left him for a more challenging class Posted Image

I roll with the Falcon with spare ammo and barrel extension when I'm on host and the Mattock with ArPen and spare ammo/Revenant with ArPen and stability when I'm not, depending on whether or not I feel like dislocating my index finger.

The Falcon synergizes perfectly with chain overload, the Mattock is pretty flexible range-wise, and I recently discovered that all of my issues with the Revenant cleared up when I started playing with it more aggressively instead of hanging back.

The Phaestron does wonders as a Turian, its almost as if it can compete with the heavy hitters! It is an ideal choice for someone who wants to use an automatic weapon as a Turian, Well, That or the tempest (The stability bonus makes it rather viable.)

Having played Turian Sentinel with a "Max all but warp" spec, i find myself very weapon dependant. I've used pretty much every weapon in the game on mine - from the Avenger to Black Widow, as it was him that i initially leveled my gear with, and i found that the Mattock suited the class extremely well. After i got the Sabre though, i never really looked back, although the Mattock X still gives my Sabre III a run for its money.

List of weapons that i used; favourites are at the top:

M99 Sabre
N7 Valiant
Black Widow
M96 Mattock
M97 Viper
M98 Widow
M13 Raptor
Phaeston
M8 Avenger
... and a variety of shotguns.

Remember - its personal preference. Dont let this derail into a "Hurr Durr Widow make moar dmg then Mattck" or something similar...

And here I thought using an SMG was a kickable offense.

Mattock, hands down. I like having an AR on a Turian Sentinel because they get that tasty weight reduction, but most of the ARs in multiplayer are garbage. They either do ****-all for damage (Avenger? lol) or are way too heavy. Turian Sentinels are still a caster class, you shouldn't be killing your cooldown times just so you can lug a heavy weapon around like all the other baddies. I've got a Mattock V, and I think I'm at ~175% cooldown reduction with it as the only weapon equipped. I love the Mattock cause it's got excellent damage and is great at long range even without a scope. It's annoying having to click the mouse so much, but...you can't have it all :)

Stability mod isn't really necessary if you're using Turian. Piercing mod is great for armor and Guardians. I use that and the barrel mod. I still only have Mattock I too...

OP, with your current arsenal, the Hornet is your best weapon for TS.

I use the Phaeston with AP and Barrel. It works great as an ammo power spreader (Tech Bursts ftw) and as a full auto, it saves my trigger finger. The Mattock is more effective but honestly I just get tired of pulling the trigger as fast as possible just to achieve max performance.

The recoil is VERY manageable on the Turian without the stability mod or the scope. I can hit all head-shots no problem with it from medium range. If you fire from cover, its a beam of bullets. Its also got a lot of back up ammo and a very deep clip.

Not to mention, its the perfect thematic weapon for a Turian.

I'm loving the Indra on my Turians. If I didn't have it, I'd use Saber on the Soldier and Hornet on the Sentinel. My Sentinel is specced out of tech armor, he's a caster. I also find that the key to getting the most out of the Indra is ammo - disruptor or incendiary.
