My first playthrough was a vanguard but on normal difficulty. Now I've played all classes on insanity except  vanguard I want to go back and complete it. I'll have to admit I like charge+nova play plus equiping Particle Rifle+incendiary ammo/cryo Ammo on the rifle able teammates.

Any tips on a good bonus power and weapon?

Oh and it's not a NG+ so don't have access to all the weapons but I do have all bonus powers unlocked.

Dark Channel is a fun power for Charge/Nova vanguards: infinite biotic explosions. Graal X for the personal weapon.

I'll only be able to get up to Graal V but, yeah that sounds interesting. Recommendation on ammo power?

Also what would be the best way to handle Banshees/Brutes/Atlases? Tha average mooks won't be a problem but I'm not sure how to handle the big guys.

Slam or Reave are pretty nice.

Do you have the Raider shotgun? It's somewhat heavy, but otherwise a nice weapon.

edit:  For the big enemies you could setup a biotic or tech combo then charge, roll back, and use Nova if you wanted.  Basically with time dilation from Charge you can charge Banshees with impunity, as long as you dodge away from them afterwards.  I never got grabbed that way in SP (mp is a little different with no time dilation and latency).

Yeah, you are almost invincible if your cooldowns are low enough and you can get the hang of rolling backwards after you charge.

As for bonus power, I don't think it's all that important unless you are going for a build that's aiming for something really exotic or specific. Reave is good since it gives you a bit of damage resistance and sets up a biotic combo when you charge. Really though, if you don't find the charge+nova spam play style to be monotonous, that's all you really need in your toolbox in order to do well. You don't even need to stress about weapons if you don't want to, since charge and nova do so much damage on their own.

I haven't tried it personally, but this build seems like a great alternative to the nova vanguard, and it's probably what I'll respec to when I NG+ my one existing vanguard:

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm gonna roll with reave and see how that works out. Charge+nova might get a bit boring but I love the "grraaaaagh!" sound Shephard makes (shallow as that sounds).
