Bioware, A New Ultra-Rare Idea

Alright, let's face it--the chances of getting the Ultra-Rares are uncomfortably small, but the chances of getting the ones you WANT are even worse.  Everyone who really wants a Black Widow seems unable to get it, and I know I"m getting tired of getting Javelins when all I really want is a Scorpion upgrade.  Getting an Ultra-Rare is already so unlikely that when it comes and it's not something you'd like, it's just so much more disappointing.

So here's an idea--an Ultra-Rare Character Card.  Basically, this card, which you could get 2 or 3 times per class maximum, would allow you to actually pick BOTH branches of one level of a character's skills.  For example, I could get an Ultra-Rare Soldier Card, and choose to use it on my Batarian Soldier's Ballistic Blades, Level 5, so that I get both the increased distance AND the decreased recharge time.  I daresay this is something that pretty much any player would really be able to make good use of, so it increases the chance that we won't be left quite so annoyed at our Ultra-Rares as we often are, and while it does increase characters' ability significantly, I don't feel like it's any more game-breaking than a Level 10 Black Widow in most players' hands would be.  Obviously the details would need to be worked out on the whole thing (whether it resets when a class is promoted or just disappears, whether there are some powers that just can't work with both trees selected, etc), but I figure it's a fairly good idea, and might add some incentive to keep playing this game as players start to lose interest in completing weapons' rosters and weekend operations.

Thoughts?

Oh yes, because adding more Ultra rare cards is going to net me those ones I do want.... /Sarcasm

I didn't even think of that rofl, his own idea contributes to the issue his idea is trying to resolve.

Just another N7 card you'll potentially get instead of that black widow.

Similar ideas have popped up here before. I have a lot of fun experimenting with different builds, and having to limit myself, having to choose, is a big part of that fun. The fact that players can build characters in different ways brings variety to the game, and fosters nerdy discussions, which I love. I wouldn't want to be able to select both branches of a power evolution on any of my characters, so for me, no, I don't want this.

Plus, a lot of whining would arise from some getting several of these cards while others none, and it would make the game easier. Not cool.

Okay, first of all, the dissatisfaction with getting Ultra Rares that were not wanted is not something I experience alone, if the forums are anything to go by, and likewise according to the forums, I'm certainly not anywhere near the level of whiny rage that most who are dissatisfied are. I'm not trying to be greedy, I'm trying to propose a possibility where there are at least more positive outcomes to getting an Ultra-Rare.

Also, I'm not trying to "resolve" the issue of not getting the Black Widow or whatever someone is hoping for. I'm trying to make it less likely to be a consistent irritation by making a scenario where there are more outcomes that the player can appreciate. Yes, the odds of getting the coveted Black Widow or whatever go down, but the odds of getting something you'll at least not hate increase.

More hostility from you guys than I really think is warranted here, even if you don't think it's a good idea.
