I was really kind of bothered by EDI as a squadmate. Having her with me on missions felt wrong (to me) and along with how the body looked felt like something out of a FanFiction and not something that should actually be in the game.
Are There People Who Actually Liked Edi as a Squadmate?

Yep I liked her as a squad mate. She has some interesting things to say when you take her more often.

Like when you're charging at the Thresher Maw in the Tuchunka level, even SHE thinks that's insane.

Oh, some more AWESOME EDI chatter with Tali.

My first reaction when she got herself a body:
"OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE, IT'S A GODDAMN SHIP AI!!!"
followed by:
"What's with the boobs? Does she even have machine guns in them or are they just for show?!"
After the first shock I spent time to get to know the new EDI, and eventually she was with me in every mission. And I grew to like her. She had skills that compensated mine, so there it was.
And if someone is going to mention something about her cameltoe, I just gotta admit I haven't been able to move my eyes there yet. There are boobies on the way.
I read this through many times and I'm not sure if there's spoilers. If there is, I am truly sorry.

I don’t mind Edi, as such.
It’s a neat enough plot-line. Her new body is ridiculous, but I honestly couldn’t care less. It’s just that when I take a squad mate for a mission, I’ll bring the ones that my Shep is used to running with and the ones she likes the most.
I’m afraid my interactions with Edi were mostly limited to the ship but I genuinely enjoyed our conversations then.
All of this said – would I have preferred any of the neglected squad mates or romantic interests over her?
Yes. Yes, I would have.

Edi is a fun character. I like the debates that pop up about what is life.
As for the C-toe stuff....My toaster has a seem on the side of it. Its made of metal and plastic. Should I be getting excited now?
Loved Jacks line to Edi about not looking like a sex toy vs a sex object.... Didn't see that line coming LOL
A hint of that female anatomy (based on a camel) of someone like my fem-Shep or Tali would be a bit more understandable, because we'd be talking about flesh and blood female being represented. Edi's body though is like Fornza lust. Love the detail they put into it though... metal, see through plastic parts, etc.

EDI brought a great new perspective of synthetics to the story and I really enjoyed having her. The thing about the C-toe, I never even noticed it and think that some of the forumers have way too much free time on their hands (or hand, wink-wink).

EDI's dialogue on Earth is also pretty good.

I tend to agree with you. Some people have WAAAY too much time on their hands.

I'm more an offensive type of player. I always used overload and incinerate. Never used decoy.

Seriously... Liara, Ash, Miranda all these characters in ME3 have been hyper sexualised, it's nothing new... And not a reason to dislike her character... Would have been nice if they gave us the option to play her with skin though.....
But in all honesty I loved her as a squad mate... And was thrilled they gave her a body...
I genuinely don't understand the hate ....

Pre ME3, I thought well there's a squaddie spot that shouldn't have gone to an ME2 character (preferably of MY choice).
During ME3, I thought she doesn't have a great use as a squadmate, but she totally won me over as character. Her struggle to transform from a being that exists and a person who is alive was very well done.
Post ME3, I wish she had been given the robot body and used as a passive squadmate at Kronos station, but her squadmate slot should have been given to an ME2 squaddie.

She's definitely interesting.
And a warped sense of humor, with her Air filtration comment (That was a joke)...

I think one of the main reasons EDI got upgraded to a squaddie was so the squad could have an unkillable Engineer. Her character was fun, but I did not like how blatant her sexuality was emphasized. I too only brought her along for the mandatory mission.
I think a better idea for an unkillable Engineer would have been Legion. Hear me out. If he died in ME2 or was sold to Cerberus, he could have had a backup in a completely different platform, without the memories of ME2, similar to Legion VI in ME3. However, this new platform would have to be visually distinct, not just a stupid reskin of Legion. It could also have different powers, to encourage multiple playthroughs.
The idea that Shepard and Legion "saved the galaxy together" and he doesn't know it would create a whole new dynamic, with both Shepard and the crew.

I thought she was fine. Her role was "somewhat" cliche, but I thought she was an interesting character. Liked her character design as well (except for the cameltoe, that is...)

I adored EDI as a squad mate, I didn't expect to, but I totally did.
She is honestly hilarious/adorable at some points.
Same here. Even though my Shep was an engineer and didn't really need her skill set, I still used her quite a bit because I liked her personality and comments on missions.
I can't lie. Sometimes, I've got a big urge to hug her.

I want to like her, trying to be less bothered by the sexbot appearance.
Maybe after a few more FemShep's I'll get used to it. I cringe a little every time I see her, which is sad. Wish I could as her to go back to the orb when on ship, would pay for that dlc. I like EDI, I really don't like what they did to her.

It was a smart decision. There was data that could be potentially discovered in Eva's storage devices and her design and construction could point clues as to her human creator. I would have done the same.xbeton0L wrote...
I still don't see why Shepard brought the thing on board.

Good as a squad mate, until her damn decoy appears right on top of the object you're taking cover behind and her holographic shiny metal ass is right in your line of fire.

EDI was ok, never really took her out, preferred to just hang out with Liara, Javik and Garrus most of the time. One thing that got on my ****** though was the constant back and forth about organic and artificial intelligence, ugh she gave my Shep a headache with all the questions, wish she had an off switch at times. Although the whole bit with Joker was hilarious so I can tolerate her.

I liked her and used her on missions sometimes, particularly the dreadnought and Rannoch missions.

I loved EDI as a character. The joke she made about recycling the oxygen and the look on Shepards face afterwards was PRICELESS but as a Squadmate...that could of been freed up for someone else. Let her keep the body but keep her with Joker dammit!
