Disagree, it was a very creative idea.....but ultimately she was pretty uninteresting as a squad mate, i got tired of her would have prefered in Her place: MIRANDA, JACOB, GRUNT, JACK, KASUMI, MORDIN or SAMARA in general i would have liked the great/superior characters of me2 to be serviced better.....and what the deal with al the tali, garrus lovers???? theyre all right but man neither even in my top 10

This isn't inappropriate at all. I have no idea what you're all talking about.

EDIT: As a squad mate, I thought she was completely unnecessary. She and James were very bland characters which, despite trying to like, I can't bring myself to use. EDI has a great tech skill set but I can't justify using her over other characters.

I loved having EDI as a squadmate. She was one of my favorite characters in ME2. Then again, I do have a soft spot for my robot buddies, so I'm biased. I probably took her with me the most after Garrus.

I LOVED having EDI as a squadmate. She was one of my favorite characters in ME2. I was happy she was made a "real girl".

Though, that ****** was just a little too real for me. Any time I used EDI, I just had her go naked since she was less ****ty that way. :|

I think it fits with the theme of Mass Effect. If you're supposed to be genetically perfect, that'll put a mass effect on your vaj.

The general consensus I am getting from the BSN, is that EDI, as a squadmate, was a horrible idea. From my point of view I actually loved EDI as a squadmate. She was my second to Garrus and was on my squad for the last mission. EDI, as a squadmate gave me a more womanly and emotional side to synthetic schema, rather than Legion in ME2. Edi and the Geth are what made me stray away from the forced death of them in the destroy ending, and made me pick crappy ol' synthesis =/. If Shepard lived through the synthesis ending, and Edi was technically now half organic then I would definatelly romance her over Miranda or Jack =P.

So, for those of you who actually liked EDI as an addition to the team... Why?

EDI Is my favorite Squad mate.
Javik is my second.

I liked EDI as a squadmate.  Here's why:

- I started taking her on missions because EDI gives tactial advice all the time, so might as well bring her body

- I was using her to bring some extra Overload alongside Garrus, then found her more survivable, surprisingly

- I almost always buy the Spectre office's Paladin Pistol ASAP and EDI could make use of it

EDI's lines were funny, interesting, and very well-delivered, but I never saw her as anything more than a construct.  The reason is a little meta-theatrical.  I don't mean she's a construct just because she's the robot in the story.  She's a construct because, with the celebrity voice and voluptuous chassis (edit - and cameltoe, seriously what's up with that), she was made as fan service.

However, for EDI, that bias works!  It's like her/Eva's body was designed to be an infiltrator, to deceptively appeal to people.  My out-of-game perception just reinforces that notion, making her seem more effective inside the game.  It's a bit of a twist I found surprising and fascinating.

So, what I would normally see as a pandering/marketing tactic, actually brought an twist that works for this character, thus EDI is very memorable to me.

She was great. Honestly, I got used to any/all of the squadmates after a while - they each have their strengths and weaknesses. It basically becomes a personal preference.

I liked her, on one playthrough I took her and James almost exclusively on missions. It would have been great if Legion was available as a squadmate too, then I could have taken them both and got a differing viewpoint on synthetic life. Would have been fun to see EDI and Legion arguing about whether to listen to Shepard, for instance.

I basically take EDI along in every mission involving Cerberus, just because it seems fitting---and you get a stray bit of extra tactical dialogue here and there. Her tech abilities prove useful, especially a maxed-out Overload against turrets, and she holds her own in a firefight. Not a part of my optimal/canon crew, but I enjoy her when she's around.

EDI was my favorite squad mate along with James. On a combat side, she could tank so well and decoy is inanely useful in boss fight on Insanity. My adept would rock barrier, her defense matrix and James Fortification, and army of destruction wielding tanks. On a personal side, I adored her story. It was clever, witty and at some point even incredibly intelligent, EDI conversation with Shepard about the human prisoners in the reaper camps is masterfully written. Plus Tricia is an amazing voice actress, so that made it even better.

I... honestly didn't like it at all. EDI never needed a body to humanize her, which is one thing I absolutely loved ME2 for. It was great because you came to believe EDI was sentient and a character in her own right because of her intellgence and personality, not because of some superficial body you're comfortable with.
And the concept of her being the Normandy was just lessened with the robot body, because now most people only see her AS the robot body. I also think it would have been more original and interesting if EDI was the one who fell for Joker without the silly body. It would have really brought a new dimension to the idea that being 'human' is so much more than and not defined by an arbitrary shape/body.
Finally, I felt she was useless as a squadmate. Nearly everything she did could have been done without the body (like hacking into Cronos). And I'll never forgive the fact that when it came time to overthrow Cerberus, I was forced to do so with EDI by my side rather than Miranda or Jack.

EDI as a character is great, her discovering "humanity" through her body is great.

Her body having huge ******, cameltoe and "synthetic skin" so that she won't look "unattractive" is f***ing horrible.

And she's useless as a Squadmate. Overload? Garrus. Incinerate? Liara with Warp. Decoy? Vega's fat arse with Fortification. And all of those are better fighters than EDI.

I'd really have preferred if her body was less hypersexualized and you didn't get saddled with her as a squadmate. I'd have rather had another Infiltrator-type with Tech Powers and guns. Batarian Infiltrator/Engineer with Shotguns, anyone?

I actually really liked all the scenes where you could talk to EDI though I missed how much more dialogue she had in ME2. She had something to say everywhere you went, advice several times in every mission. Even though you are right there I miss you EDI!

I'd rather look at EDI's ****** and huge knockers than a Batarian's fat ugly face.

I agree. Great character to talk to, but useless in combat. I would rather have Legion back in my squad, he at least stayed alive for more than 10 seconds.  :pinched:
