I loved getting EDI a body and having her as a squadmate. I remember in the second game wishing that she would chime in on the radio more often during missions to make jokes / random observations / converse with Shepard and/or her squad rather than be limited to instructions/directions or exposition dialogue.

Now, not only does she get to do that, she can actually join me in combat with a body all her own. Also her romance with Joker was incredibly sweet, it was something I was really hoping would happen after seeing the way they bonded towards the end of Mass Effect 2.

I did, at the very least I thought she was more useful in combat than Javik and I ended up using EDI more than I did Ashley and Tali. I also enjoyed her story arch in ME3 ( minus the bit where she begins to date Joker, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that ) and I enjoyed interacting with her more than I did with most of ME3's squad. Having said that I still don't see what the point was of making her a squadmate in ME3. I would have gotten just as much mileage out of EDI if she never, ever left the Normandy in ME3 and I can't help but be angry and disappointed that she took a valuable slot that could have gone to one of ME2's squadmates.

I liked her, as I like Vega too.

Only thing I dislike about her was the cameltoe. That was unnecessary.

But hey, it's art.

I didn't really care when I saw it. EDI always had charm, however I see her "body" as nothing more than a plot device for Joker+EDI enthusiasts. Yeah the body had data needed for Shepard & crew, which could've easily been discarded or researched (interest) when finished, but EDI activating it on her own solidified her new "body" into the plot for whatever reasons to follow.

Yes, I immediately thought of fanfiction-brought-to-life when she walked through that steam for the first time. And a part of me was amazed, impressed even that BW listened to its fanbase. However once I noticed the real purpose of the sexbot, i just wanted to see it burned again. Regardless how cute the couple seemed, it made no sense to me. Would rather see synthetics "creating love" on their own - not borrowing it from humans.

She has a ******. Enough to reward it the status of squad-mate. Improves squad morale seeing those beef curtains during combat scenarios.

Meh. I didn't care one way or another. Most of the teammates I used were Garrus, Liara and Tali.

I liked EDI...as the ship's computer. Nothing more, nothing less.

NOT AS A SQUADMATE. I never took her out on missions, ever.

Never used her (it) except when I was forced to on the Cerberus base.

Always pick a combo of either Javik/Liara + Ash/James.

I kind of liked her. I didn't really use her all that much as a squadmate throughout my playthroughs. I always tend to go with squadmates that fit the story better (Like Liara, Garrus, Kaidan and Tali).

Nevertheless, it's fun having her around on the ship/citadel and helping her with understanding organics and learn about moral and ethical choices and behavioiur.
I think it was a good idea to give her a physical form to talk and interact with and the relationship she builds up with Joker adds another layer to the story with an interspecies relationship we haven't yet seen in the Mass Effect universe (between an organic and a synthetic).

The general consensus I am getting from the BSN, is that EDI, as a squadmate, was a horrible idea.

It was, i agree.

From my point of view I actually loved EDI as a squadmate. She was my second to Garrus and was on my squad for the last mission. EDI, as a squadmate gave me a more womanly and emotional side to synthetic schema, rather than Legion in ME2. Edi and the Geth are what made me stray away from the forced death of them in the destroy ending, and made me pick crappy ol' synthesis =/.

Me too. I had Edi with me like 1/3 of the time, as she seemed to compliment my Infiltrator with her abilities. I liked her as Squadmate but that didn't make her a good idea.

As for her ******. While i had her with me in the reknown outfit, i needed a BSN thread to actually make me aware of it. I didn't notice it, and honestly, i am not sure what exactly made people notice, appart from "uuuuuhhhh Pixle ass!", but i don't really care either way. I didn't care about Miranda or her body nor do i care about Edi in that way.

I think Edi as Squadmate was unnecessary. I liked Edi in ME2, still did in ME3, but giving her an actual body was not needed and i rather would have had Jack with me. I actually think it would have been much cooler to have Legion in my team from the start until i reach rannoch, at which point i have Tali and Legion for some time, and then in the end, it makes me chose between the one or the other. Either i keep Tali or Legion (completely unrelated to the peace between Geth and Quarians). I mean i could imagine it playing out just like it did, but in the end you can either have Tali sacrifce herself for the Geth, being an example of a Creator saving the created. Or you have Legion giving himself to free his people.

I could have imagined A similar choice to be made between Jack and Miranda. First you rescue Jack and her team, later you have to go with said Team onto Hope.. at which point you have to decide between the two of them. You basically recreate the "loyality" situations where you once again have to make a call.

I rather had them invest time and money on these scenes than on making Edi a Squadmate. Yes, i liked having her around. She was with me on about every mission on which we could encounter AIs. I liked getting that other "point of view" but for that she didn't need to be a Squadmate. Joker isn't a Squadmate too and i still care about him and his problems. Making Edi a squadmate was unnecessary to convey the story and there are enough other characters that could have filled that spot.

However unlike Vega and Allers, i don't consider her completely pointless. Heck i even needed to BSN to finally get to remember Vegas name. That buffon was so boring and uninteresting, i couldn't be bothered with his name. Allers i had to look up. Who she was, what she did.. and hearing the rest about them even killing people over twitter just to include her into the game? That was much worse.

So yeah, the new additions to the cast were pointless. Edi didnt need to be a squatmate. We had enough of those already to go around. And while i at least cared for Edi, unlike Vega, instead of making her a Squadmate those ressources could have been better spent.

EDI was fine as a squadmate. She brought technical abilities and seemed reasonably survivable with the decoy. I thought the romance/emotions angle was a tired storyline. I know there's nothing new under the sun, but I would have preferred a less obvious storyline as the focus for her development.

I didn't notice any cameltoe until someone posted a screenshot with it highlighted. I guess I don't spend my time looking for that sort of thing. I wouldn't have minded if she has a less sexbot body. Or if they'd replaced the synthskin Eva Core originally had.

I did wonder what kind of security they had a Mars that a robot girl could just walk in and kill everyone. Good thing we had the shadowbroker there to keep everyone up to date...

EDI was fine as a squadmate. Useful skills, good survivability. Didn't notice the wardrobe gaff until people pointed it out - and people need less free time.

I hate her role in ME3. I think they pulled it off well, but I can't stand it and would rather have her back on the ship like in ME2. I just don't care for it and also don't care for everyone drooling over her... Kind of annoying.

I liked having her as a squaddie. I don't really know why, I just did.
