I didn't mind having her as a squadmate. I never used her other than for the mandatory mission, but it was nice to have the option to do so.

Yeah, I liked EDI as a squadmate. It's interesting, and I enjoy her sense of humor. She's not one of my favorites, but I brought her around on quite a few missions. And even though this doesn't matter to me as much as personality, her powers are good for my playstyle too (Decoy for distractions, Overload for tech combos, Incinerate because... I just really like that one).

Yes, once upon a time when I actually played ME3 (ONCE and ONLY ONCE) I liked having her there...her decoy defense was handy at times.

I didn't care for her as a squadmate much, but didn't dislike her much either. It's mostly that the 'becoming human' story has been done before and done better. Spock? Data? Her looks were also a bit over the top for me. As a squadmate, I mostly looked at what weapons she could carry. One pistol? Yeah, thanks but no thanks. If she had been able to move like a Phantom, maybe I'd have been interested. Also, I usually stick with Liara and Garrus or Tali anyway. Instead of her, I'd like to have another one of the ME2 teammates back. All in all, it wasn't that badly done, sure, but it was just not needed. So I only took her on the mission to the IM's secret lair. But I'm not so sure that mission truly illustrates her abilities as I'm sure it's tailored to suit her at least somewhat. She's a sympathetic character, but I cared about as much for her as the AI that ran the ship as when she was able to walk around.

Least favourite squadmate of the whole trilogy. Like other squadmates from the previous games (Liara, Jacob, Samara etc) she might have gotten a second chance on subsequent playthroughs, but I didn't start the game again after finishing it back in March, so...

Well the way  E.D.I. acquires her body... is kind of odd and poorly explained I'd say. But other then that I was alright with the premise of it. As a Soldier I found her powers pretty helpful since she's good at breaking down both Shields and Armor. As a character she was pretty good actually. Probably a step above what she was in ME2 kind of being the all-knowing computer that reveals important things.

She was more interesting than basically most of the human squadmates you ever recruited.

I would have rather had one of the ME2 squad mates like Thane or Mordin. She wasn't terrible, just wasn't very interesting or effective.

EDI was a wonderful idea. Her design seemed like a throwback to Metropolis, her voice acting was perfect, the humor was great, and so was the chemistry between her and Joker. Perhaps my favorite aspect of ME3.

my only real problem about EDI having a tangible body on the Normandy is that i felt, in Mass Effect 2, that she was the Normandy, as opposed to being crew or just a weapons defense system. This is why i thought joker (secretly) liked her so much, is because of how much he loves the Normandy.

However in ME3, she seems just as much a part of the Normandy as one of its technical crew members, such as Traynor, or Adams, or Dr. Chakwas.

I generally bounce around between squad setups, not really going with a "canon" set, or "optimal" set, but I've found on my Infiltrator that I generally use EDI on more missions than I don't use her on.

My soldier was all about Javik/Liara/Tali, my Adept was Liara/James/Ashley and my Infiltrator seems to be EDI/Garrus/Javik.

EDI's personality portrayal in ME3 was oddly done. I was under the impression she had emotions, just utterly clueless when discerning them. She felt like a human trying to act like a robot instead of vice versa. The game emphasize she doesn't really have emotions or not in the same means of a human. Bewildering. As for company usage, I tend not to include her in my party.

I liked her. And I appreciate how BW 'tried' to make her as personable as possible through your choices. But something seemed 'off' about her. She became almost to human....Her jokes were fun, and she was entertaining, but when you could truly hear 'emotion' in her debate with Javok in the AI core...it really made her more of a 'real' person, instead of that lovable AI.....and after all....THAT VOICE! :)

I liked her character in ME2. I think the idea of putting her in a robot body was OK, but the oversexed design was a bit too silly for me. Still, I appreciated the character development in ME3 and I took her on all missions in my second playthrough. Joker says somewhat different things after missions because EDI went on them and presumably he talks to her incessantly. That alone was novel enough (to me) to make it worth taking her on missions. Overload and Incinerate give you decent options to combat shields or armor. I only play on normal difficulty though, so optimal squad balance is not really required.

I liked her writing, character development and voice acting. I loved the plot line where Shepard could lead EDI to discover her 'humanity,' for lack of a better word.

I wasn't crazy about the sexbot character design however. They could have toned that down a bit.

I honestly liked her, but I know it is polarizing subject. She was also extremely helpful on insanity due to having both Overload and Incinerate.

I tend to agree. I liked her as a character and as a squadie. I'm just shocked that some people took the time to look at her robo bits long enough to notice she had them. Heh, I didn't even notice until people pointed it out. Honestly, I don't care about that. I'm not pervy enough to notice robo bits. :P

NOTE: Shocked that this thread hasn't been locked or moved. It seems like something that would be better suited for the character discussion forum.
