Squadmate or not, I think the issue lies with whether or not EDI should've gotten a body IFP.

The issue being, her peripheral body being both an extension of her sexuality (inherently female) and simply a different kind of sex appeal.

But sex appeal nonetheless.

I liked her as a character. She needed a real body for the character development she (and Joker) went through. So on board of the Normandy she was awesome.

However I never used her as a squadmate (atleast not by choice).

I liked her evolution as a character, but disapproved of her integration into a humanoid body. Or any body for that matter.

I don't use her very much (usualy on minor N7 missions) but I don't have anything against her and overall I like her character and I do enjoy the dialog and banter with her and joker.

She's not too bad as a squadmate, actually got slightly better after I found out that Squadmate armors had effects on the squadmate..

As a Character, she's rather good.  Not the best, but good.

I liked EDI. It was familiar territory as far as narrative is concerned, but if your Shepard isn't Tech-savvy, she's quite useful. I liked bringing her along on missions for NPC reaction (though there wasn't as much as I'd hoped).

I was not too fond of another squadmate in high heels, let alone someone who, yet again, is "top heavy." What a wonderful moment in ME3, when Legion initially pointed this out - my stomach muscles ached, I was laughing so hard! :-))))

Seriously, she's ok as a squadmate in combat - her decoy power took a bit of getting used to, though! I took her along sometimes just to see how she would react to things, what she would say. And her discovering humanity was entertaining in places - but could have been executed better. I don't know why, it just seemed lacking for some reason.

This said, I would have preferred EDI as she once was - the blue orb. And if it were possible, I would have chosen Wrex as her replacement.

EDI was a breath of fresh air. Unlike people, she was more willing to change for what were the real reasons to change...but you had to play the paragon side,  you wouldn't see that in the quick battle. Hmm...that could be said about real people too, we seldom go through enough hell with someone to know who they really are. In a way, I wish Bioware's story people were in charge of their relations regarding bugs, and chose the paragon side...so little real news, more guts to talk about bugs would be a good thing. More right mouse button, fewer business silence buttons. I vote EDI for CEO of Bioware!

I like EDI as a squadmate. She's a caster tank, which is an unusual combo, but she works really well for any tech-focused Shepards IMO. I actually find she also has some of the funniest banter of all the squaddies in ME3.

I would've liked it more if they gave her some clothes when she's off-duty, but in combat she's been really good to me.

Pretty much this. I team her up with my sentinel Shep and Liara and there is nothing I can't handle! Posted Image

Yeah, I liked EDI, took her on about 70% of my missions. In terms of Techs and Abilities: I'd say that EDI & Ashley were the most useful.
EDI's armor buffs made her pretty effective as a "Tank", and her Decoys provided a decent detraction when you're being swarmed by hordes of enemies & could inflict damage/shock enemies when destroyed.
And it didn't hurt that her new body was nice to look at too!;)

Never used her apart from the mission in which you had no choice (Cerberus Base) i would of prefered to see one of the ME2 guys added instead of EDI. Don't get me wrong though i did like EDI but not as a squad mate.

Maybe a future spin-off is planed with Vega as the main characters perhaps.

I like Vega as a squadmate. In fact I think he's the most interesting out of the non-DLC human characters on the squad. As a character I'd rate him above either Virmire Survivor or Jacob.

But I don't think he'd make a good player character. He is too much of a dope to be anything besides the player character's henchman, IMO.

Frankly, if I could, I would take every single squadmate I have on every mission. Hell, I would even take Joker if that meant someone would have to push him around in a wheelchair the whole time. That's when EDI would come in handy. But, no, it has to always be just 1-2 squadmates. Oh well...

I like EDI as a character, but not as an actual squadmate - I'd have vastly preferred to have an ME2 character be something other than a cameo instead.
I pretty much facepalmed when I saw they'd given her a sexy robot body, and I cringed when the EDI/Joker romance popped up.
I'm also pretty sure they only did the 'android becoming human' thing and did their best to make her immensely likeable so that the destroy ending would be a harder choice for players, people just don't identify/sympathise as much with the geth, particularly since they've been antagonists for part of the last two games.

I like her powers and her combat prowess.

I loathe their actually making her a squadmate. The only reason it happened was so to have a tech-oriented unkillable, since Vega and Liara take up the Soldier and Adept mantle, respectively.

The general consensus I am getting from the BSN, is that EDI, as a squadmate, was a horrible idea. From my point of view I actually loved EDI as a squadmate. She was my second to Garrus and was on my squad for the last mission. EDI, as a squadmate gave me a more womanly and emotional side to synthetic schema, rather than Legion in ME2. Edi and the Geth are what made me stray away from the forced death of them in the destroy ending, and made me pick crappy ol' synthesis =/. If Shepard lived through the synthesis ending, and Edi was technically now half organic then I would definatelly romance her over Miranda or Jack =P.

So, for those of you who actually liked EDI as an addition to the team... Why?

From what I've read, EDI's a very good squadmate, and possibly the best tank/bullet sink in the game.

As far as story relevance goes, she's fairly pointless. They could have just handwaved her having remote access to Cronos Station during the penultimate mission, for all the importance she had in it (Shepard telling her she does a good job, and...that's it). The relationship with Joker was pretty good, but it was barely there.

I figure Tricia Helfer just asked for more lines/screentime, and they obliged by hypersexualizing the character and making her a physical presence instead of a talking globe.

I thought she was extremely useful in spite of the fact that I didn't like the way she become a squadmate so suddenly.

Me, I never really used her except for about twice.
IMO I think she was just a "Filler" so there wouldn't seem to be so little squadmates in the game.
I also liked her better when she was only on the ship...idk why

I did like her dialogue every now and then, other than that =/
