Her looking "way too human" was something I was hoping wouldn't happen but happened anyway and in a very disappointing manner. Taking a stock photo and giving it a quick touch-up in Photoshop. Boom, Tali. No.

Image IPB

Haters gonna hate, but this is how I view Tali and the quarians in headcanon. Hoping for a mod that will replace the in-game photo with this image. Kudos to the person that created it.

I would have like something like this:

Or

http://www.gameranx....ali-concept.jpg

And still, i think there shall be far more different that human(the faces) but still enough human to be attractive, since i truly think we have enough with the Asari, having one species so similar like the Asari i have no problem, two i think is too much.

I'd put my vote on http://www.gameranx....ali-concept.jpg

I have linked to that picture before in other Tali face discussions.

It looks humanoid, but still not too human. And yet not appaling or anything.
Well, in my opinion at least.
They could maybe tone down the gloss and the shiny veins a bit. But other then that it's a beautiful face for Tali.

And yes, I know Javik said that even in his cycle Quarians were considered attractive.
But take a look at Javik and then think about what his species might consider appealing/attractive Image IPB
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I guess I'm "ok" with the face BioWare choose for her. But it can't shake the feeling that it just looks too human compared to the rest of her body.

She eats different food, she lives in a bubble suit. She should look more alien like. She should probably look closer to turian since they share digestive systems and have three digits.

She looks human because she is. ;)
Her 'picture' you get after the Rannoch mission is a simply paint-edited face of a stock image on google.

Quarians are generally shorter and of slighter build than humans.
Quarians have an endoskeleton, lips, teeth, and two eyes with eyelids
and tear ducts; they also have three thick fingers on both hands which
include a thumb, an index finger, and a long finger, similar to the
middle fingers for humans, as well as three toes on each foot. Quarian
facial structure and hair actually makes them the most similar to humans
in physical appearance.
Their lower legs are bowed backwards
significantly, compared to asari
or humans. Aside from hands and legs, their general body shape and
sexual dimorphism is similar to humans. Their ears or ear analogues
differ in a noticeable fashion from those of humans, with references
made to "what [passes] for the quarian version of an ear".

Not all aliens need to look like monstrous freaks.

It's unrealistic, cheap, generic, stereotypical and racist.

The photoshop was still cheap and generic too, but the idea that all alien life can't look similar to humans is silly and based on stupid stereotypes from crappy sci-fi movies.

I think the keyword here is "similar to humans", not exactly alike apart from some strange makeup on the forhead Image IPB

I agree. They remind us of the humans, but you can see they are different thanks to their body and some features in their face. I think it's good not all the species looks like salarians, krogans or turians.

The photoshop picture doesn't bother me at all, but I would rather have seen her face in a cinematic scene at the end of the Rannoch mission. Maybe like this: Tali stands on the cliff looking out over Rannoch, she removes her mask for a short time. We will see her face, but thanks to the sun we won't see 100% of it, like in the photo.

Tali looks just fine (it was evident that the quarians would be more human like than some of the other races), but she should get a rendered face instead of the photoshopped picture, and it would be nice if they showed her face in a more tastefull manner: taking her mask off in the game and not giving you a pic of herself.

You guys do realize that asari are essentially blue human women with tentacles hats, right? Quarians are less human that asari. Yeah, if you're only seeing her face she looks human but if you looked at her standing up you'd see three fingered hands, an impossibly thin waist and huge hips, and raptor legs with two toes. Also a thinner neck if quarian art notes are to be believed.

You are right except Quarians have 3 toes, 2 in middle and small little toe

Tali's little toe

More Alien? Humans look alien to other aliens. Quarians look enough alien to me. Not everyone need to look like blue gob with 20 eyes.

As for hair? Well im pretty sure there would be possible to have hair for more species than just humans in WHOLE GALAXY

I think the natural face markings are nice touch - you can play with those to have different ones varried on region ancestory and the such.

Also. It's a bit amusing that people have to exaggerate all the time. As soon as someone says "I just wanted her to look a little less human" someone always have to counter with "omg why does everyone want her to look like a green blob with tentacles and 32 eyes!" Image IPB

There some big questions people are overlooking:
When was the picture taken? She has lived her entire life in that suit, and only been to Rannoch once. Who took the pic?
Why does her skin have pigment? Being in the suit all this time, unless the blue light on the visor is actually UV, should leave her skin being very pale. Actually, it's probable that the blue light is UV, now that I bring it up.
Why is her hair clean and so pretty?

Technically it's racist to assume that no matter where in the universe you are, the human form is the pinnacle of evolution, regardless of your environment, habitat and so forth. It's also unrealistic to assume that it'd be the popular form, considering that even the species we evolved from are for the most part more agile and stronger than we are. Our sole benefit over other creatures (beyond our capacity to learn and reason) is our hands.
Our feet are, quite frankly, a mess. The only creature on planet earth (other than the thylacine) that walks on its heels. Every other living and extinct creature walks and runs on its toes (unless not applicable as in the case of primates, who have palms which have their own benefits). Note also that when we are most agile, we have to keep our heels off the ground.

What you seem to be most hung up on is aesthetics. We should only be attracted to our own species (as in, human). It's daft to want every alien race to be sexy and alluring. I get that it's an extension of liking 'exotic' beauty, and I too find blue aliens that look quite like us rather attractive, but the reality is likely going to be much less appealing if there are other sentient beings out there.

1. Her drone does have more functions than just zap people, you know...
2. She isn't human, so why should her skin not have pigment despite living in a suit 24/7? Alien biology and all, ye know?
3. Quarian suits are highly advanced, clean hear isn't really that unlikely.

Why would she even have hair on her head? The quarians have been in suits from birth to grave for three hundred years. Hair would require haircuts or else you would eventually have hair so long that it interfered with whatever bathroom functions the suit had

That's not how biology works...The quarians lived outside of suits for millenia before they were forced into wearing them. 300 years is not a long enough time for stuff like that to change.

As tali stands now maleshep doesnt get a for real alien LI. Fshep gets garrus the bird dinosaur so mshep should at least get something equally awesome looking if you ask me.

In other words, tali's an alien so make her look like one
