Her looking "way too human" was something I was hoping wouldn't happen but happened anyway and in a very disappointing manner. Taking a stock photo and giving it a quick touch-up in Photoshop. Boom, Tali. No.

Haters gonna hate, but this is how I view Tali and the quarians in headcanon. Hoping for a mod that will replace the in-game photo with this image. Kudos to the person that created it.

the problem with this is that it is ugly.

To you maybe, but you are not a quarian she isn't supposed to look good to you.

Javik would find this ugly and he said even in his cycle Quarians were considered beautiful people.

I think Javik also said that they were once quite attractive, but he did not find femShep attractive at all. An arguement could be made to make her more insect like.

Now that you mention it, it does sort of look like her in the face. Still kinda makes my stomach turn though. Maybe it's the Ross Perot ears....

So ontop of Garrus, I have to borrow Tali's shotgun to have a word with Javik now? Oh boy.

No offense but how the hell would you know what Javik would view as beautiful, for crying out loud you only have two eyes.

There is no reason for an alien species to fit inside of Earth taxonomy (even if you do suscribe to the "evolved from space bacteria" theory). Even if their home planets had identical environments (which itself is a stretch), there is still scope for more then one optimal ecosystem to have emerged.

Asari look alien with human features. Nobody complained. Besides, when you get a close look at Tali's visor, you can barely see her nose through the glass. Explain to me how Tali shouldn't look human with a nose that looks very similar to ours and the asari.

Because having a similar-looking nose means they should look like humans? There are a very many features on a face besides a nose.

I can't believe they look so human in the face when their bodies are very not human. Seems like a bit of a dichotomy to me.

This. If we're trying to be rational that is. However this is fiction so they get a pass.

Yeah...but Turians are birds and Quarians are mammals. Wouldn't that be a little weird if they looked really similar?

Although I agree, she should've looked a little more alien. Not because of their digestive systems, however.

NO! Turians are Turians. They are mammals. Educate yourself before you spew out garbage. Their features are based upon avian ones. They are not birds. it's not that hard to look up each race on the wiki. Do you not understand the concept of Alien?

masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Turian

The most distinguishing feature of turians is their metallic carapace,
which is a result of their evolution. Turian features are avian, making them resemble humanoid birds or raptors, however unlike most Earth avian creatures, turians are viviparous and give birth to live young.

Well, I for one expected her to be very human. It is mentioned in the lore that Quarians are near evolutionary parallels to humans, afterall.

But more importantly, I want to see Garrus's sister. And invite her to the Captain's Quarters... only to tease Garrus about her flexability and my reach. At Twister, of course >:P.

Lol why are people like personally offended by starfish tali. Like its an insult or something: screw you buddy. Oh yeah? *posts picture* YOU SUNUVA

Because it looks like her face can be easily pulled off.

My gosh, and you just berated me for being narrow-minded about pointing out the similarities of Canon-Tali to humans (granted, I was talking about her face, not her entire body). You don't like Starfish-Tali's face because it looks like it can be ripped off?

Many creatures in nature have appendages that can be easily pulled off.

And, for the record, Starfish-Tali has hair, too.

Besides, what does it matter? This discussion is incredibly moot. This all just boils down to an (unnecessary) conflict of opinion. I like Starfish-Tali and you don't. Can we just agree to disagree?

By "can be easily pulled off", I mean it looks like her face does not match the rest of her head. Like it could just crawl away if it had a mind to.

Also, you can go ahead and think facehugger Tali is the canon look, I don't care, but I do care when you say "Quarians look too human" when there's literally another alien species that looks like your average cosplayer covered in body paint with a rubber piece over their hair.

"starfish" tali came from this (well this is an edited picture but the center one is the same).

It's a 2D drawing and as far as I can tell it doesn't look like you can pull her face off. I think this is perfect. At least much better than the crap we got.

What? The only difference is skin pigment? What are you smoking?

Asari are the EXACT SAME as humans except for blue skin and tentacle heads, and as far as I know, Asari aren't mammalian, i.e. no hair.

Quarians, on the other hand, have glowy eyes, ear slits, paler skin, dark body markings, 3 fingers to a hand, 2 toes to a foot, AND raptor legs. That sounds pretty damn different to humans.

People, STOP focusing so much on the fact that they have hair as an argument that they look too human. They're MAMMALIAN, always have been. Remember how Tali says that Rannoc has no insect life, so the quarians became the carriers of the native plants seeds? How do you think they did that? Answer: The pollen/seeds clung to their hair and traveled with them, like how some real life seeds need to cling to animal fur to disperse.

Also, DNA is DNA. Structure affects inner bodily processes, not outward appearance. Saying "Quarians have a different type of DNA so they should look different" makes about as much sense as saying "Humans and sponges have the same type of DNA, so why don't sponges look like humans?" It's basic biology, people.

Point of order:

The fact asari have boobs makes them mammalian. Also, if they birth live young, as I believe they do (never heard of asari eggs before, not that it's actually ever been established), they are most definitely mammals by biological definition and classification.

It doesn't work like that. Taxonomy is incredibly strict, it needs to be to properly classify species. The REQUIRED features for being a mammal are warm blood, live birth, lactation, and hair. Asari don't have hair, so BAM, right off the bat, they are not mammalian. Simple as that.

^ Whatever, dude. This is obviously important to you, so I'm gonna leave you to it.

Edit: One more point: The platypus. It lays eggs, yet it's classified as a mammal. It doesn't give live birth, yet Biologists mutually agreed to classify it as a mammal. There can be exceptions in Taxonomy. The same can be applied to an Asari.

I should go.
