-He's part of some of the most ham-fisted/poorly executed cutscenenes in the game, reason enough.
His death scene alone is so rage inducingly retarded it could cause a stroke (let's not check his body and look away as he stumbles up, grunting)

The only novel that Kai Leng was in, He was quite cool. A True Racist unlike Ashley.

Cerberus In Mass Effect 3 is just about bad writing. Then again Mass Effect 3 has a lot of bad writing.

I don't hate Kai Leng, he's simply a mildly irritating pest. Like a tick.

What I do hate is how every one of the seasoned reaper-killing soldiers on my team seems to go into a coma when he shows up. That includes Shepard. "Hmmm, bullets don't seem to be working on this guy. I know! More bullets!"

Funny how even when Saren shoots himself in the brain, Shepard still tells his/her team to check and make sure he's dead, but Mr. Immune to Bullets goes down with no discernible death blow and Shepard not only turns his/her back but gets nice and comfy in TIM's chair.

Yeah that must be the reason why nearly everyone dislikes a space-ninja sword wielder that is ridiculous in every scene he is in., and completely out of place in the ME Universe. Because it's cool.

Indeed, Kai Leng's visual style seems more in line with StarCraft or Deus Ex than it does with Mass Effect.

He's a douchbag wannabe-ninja. He's the type of trope that tries to act cool and instead it comes off as forced, like he was the geeky kid at the back of the class who greased back his hair, wore a leather jacket and gave girls the "collar-flick-finger-guns" just to seem more impressive. When we all know he's had more swirlies than haircuts to actually take him seriously.

He's story is static. You can't affect it like you can with other characters. He'll just do his cut scenes despite whatever choices you have made. You don't even get different dialogue options like you do with the Illusive Man.

I've said it before and I'll say it every time this thread pops up, Kai Leng is like the Team Rocket of Mass Effect.

I hate him, I hate his silly cut-scene powers, and I truly wish they had done something, anything better than his presence in the game. Disregarding Deception I get the impression he was an actual competent threat in the books (I've not read them yet), yet he is nothing of the sort in the game. He is poorly written and poorly implemented in gameplay.

If they truly wanted us to be defeated by him on Thessia or anywhere, why not just go for a full cut-scene and not let us fight him in-game? We can crush him in the fight and then lose in the cut-scene because the plot dictates. Why couldn't they come up with a way of him beating Shepard and company in a competent fashion? We've destroyed gunships before in-game (three of them IIRC) so they should have done something unexpected that we couldn't stop.

Well, he is more of a menace. His voice, his tone, his presence... even the councilors, powerful people that they are, are scared of Leng. I hate him for being the spineless, slippery bastard who killed Thane and stole Vendetta from Thessia. I don't hate him for any other reason.

1. Bioware tried too hard to make him look badass.

2. His utterly ridiculous plot armor. Whenever he's in a cutscene, everyone around him suddenly loses about 100 IQ points.

3. His characterization overall is very shallow. We barely know anything about him except HE'S A NINJA!!!!!

His gunship buddy on Thessia is a bigger threat than horribly space ninja. That sucker can't be killed at all, has an uber powered chain gun and spot light, and does all the hard work. Leng just took my Black Widow shots like a boss and didn't get close at all.

And you should be able to shoot that gunship out of the sky, spotlight or no spotlight especially if you have a Widow or Black-Widow Sniper rifle.  Read the codex on those bad boys.  Those ARE heavy weapons.
