I have this same issue. My Firewall (Semantec/Norton) was blocking IPv6 and IPv6 over IPv4. I changed my firewall rules to allow daorigins.exe all access but I still get this error. It's caused my game to hang while loading too. Didn't happen until the v1.04 patch!

I am also getting this issue, I have no idea how to fix it. My characters do get uploaded, my DLC is working. I just keep getting this error popping up, very annoying, very distracting and when it comes up after a cut scene I get stuck in black loading screen of doom.

I got this issue last night but I seen it happen with 1.02a as well. The worst was it gave me that message as I tried to recruit Zevran into my party after his ambush. Needless to say I had to reset my computer. The game totally froze. A guy at EA Support helped quite a bit when he also made sure the game was registered with EA and not just Bioware's website. Now at least it accepts my password/ email address combination. However the problem does still occur just not as often. This needs fixing. I tried updating firmware of my router but that did not help.

I don't know. It should be looked at but like a few things unfortunately it seems it won't. I love Bioware games but some issues in this game are a bit annoying. As for connection error I have not had it for a month now. No idea why it works now. I am confused.

I have been having this problem since I moved apartments, reinstalled the game, updated to 1.04, and then tried to play. I didn't have this problem the last time I was playing, some months ago. Win7 x64, D-Link DIR 615. I successfully have access to and have downloaded DLC, and a long time ago I told my account to not bother with uploading anything.
I also encounter the issue where it tries to connect to servers at certain loading events, resulting in consistent game freezes that have to be force-quit. I was able to load an autosave to get past this, such as at the end of an origin story / beginning of Ostagar.

I have to wonder if it's something on port 80. I didn't have this problem before I switched internet service from Time-Warner to Clear, whose modems have a hard-coded block against opening up port 80 for inbound traffic.

Bioware, how about a response to acknowledge the issue?

So, it would be nice if there were a fix for this wouldn't it?
What I do is I just manual login (turn auto-login off) and then load my save. It'll disconnect after a while, but I don't lose any of my junk when it does so. But that's hardly a solution to such a glaring bug.
Eh Bioware? What of it?

same problem. Using no firewal / AV, and I configured the router to portforward the TCP/UDP ports. In my case I guess this could be somehow related to the "unauthorised DLC" problem which I am having for a long time now.

I've got this problem too, and I'm so sick of it, that after putting my own Zoom 5715 DSL modem and Linksys router in place, that if the trouble don't quit, I'm going back to Windows Vista. I never had this trouble as long as I had my own modem/router combination and was on Windows Vista.
The modem the phone company stuck me with is a piece of junk ClearAccess SR300N. I've never seen such a piece of junk in all my life. Why the phone company where I live don't use and support ZOOM which is a better DSL modem from what I've found out on the net is beyond me.
This mess is not Bioware working on the servers.

Lol, that maintenance is for TWO HOURS, and all these people have been having trouble for months. BIOWARE PLEASE FIX!
Also, when this box pops up, it frequently causes the game to freeze on loading or on the party selection screen.

Have any of you people ever looked at the header data in here? Ignore the misleading NAME, look at the rest. Bioware isn't here. It's a place for game players to talk about Tech. You are wasting space in this thread when you should be looking to EA on the official support pages.pw1972 wrote...

Greetings,
I don't know if this will help any of you. It did not help me. My post is "Can't log in with Dragon Age. Will not play.", but here is what I found at EA:
I found a support notice at EA, so I changed my password to something simple:
"QUESTION
Why do I get a System Error when I try to log in to my EA Account through Dragon Age: Origins?
ANSWER
There is a system error that appears when users try to log in with their EA Accounts through Dragon Age: Origins. The error message is:
'System Error, please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact EA Customer Support.'
The password authentication system in Dragon Age: Origins will trigger this error message if your password contains special characters.
You can solve this issue by updating your password through the EA website. To update your password, follow the steps below:
Go to: https://profile.ea.com/myinfo.do
Log in with the e-mail address linked to your EA Account, and your current password.
Click on the Change password button.
Enter your old password, then enter your desired new password.
Make sure your new password does not contain any special characters, such as asterisks, dashes, etc.
6 character minimum, letters and numbers only.
Click on the Change password button again.
Your password will be automatically updated. The changes should be instant. You can try to log in to your EA Account through Dragon Age: Origins once again."
Hope this might help someone.
