Dark Souls will be coming to pc soon, and while it may not have the high end graphical resolution you might hope for, it wasn't going to even come to pc until a petition (actually) made it happen :). PC support for this terrific game is important for future titles. I believe pc player input can make future titles much, much better. So support and enjoy a good, long, extremely challenging, well balanced and rich in atmosphere rpg and help give input to make this a series to stay and be improved upon.

To get an idea of the atmosphere you'll be playing in, watch the opening cinematic (unless you're avoiding spoilers).

I would love to support From Software, but at the same time I don't want to support Namco-Bandai's decision to use Games for Windows Live. I have had so many problems with that frustrating piece of bloatware.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of this post. If someone is interested in the game, they'll buy it. If they're not interested, they won't. I guess if there are some fence sitters, you're appealing to them? But if you're saying buy the game just to support the franchise, even if you're not that interested in it, that's (IMO) just a waste of money.

I'm hoping interested players will play this awesome game and give input on how to make the next even better. Also to overlook some some annoyances and give input to Namco Bandai on how to improve upon this awesome formula

Dark Souls #1. Buy on release, unless Diablo 3 turns out to be even better than I expect. Then it will be Buy after Diablo beaten on Inferno :)

I'm getting it on day one.
However GFWL is a bad piece of software that shouldn't be used and I'm disapointed at their decision.

I will not buy Dark Souls on launch if it has Games for Windows Live. If it turns out Dark Souls will have it then I guess I'll buy it when it's $5.

I won't pay full price for a GFWL game. Poor move on Namco's part.

GFWL, limited keyboard and mouse, crap textures, and probably zero change of mods or support? Nope.

Wait what do you mean by limited keyboard and mouse?

Why is this game so popular? It is just abnormally difficult, how does that appeal to gamers? Are you all masochists?

The creators said that minimal effort would be put into implementing the k+m, and that they recommend using a gamepad.

Great enemy design, great level design, great dialogue, creepy atmosphere, great lore/storyline if you're interested, great gameplay.

Honestly, it's nowhere near as difficult as its reputation makes out. Yeah, you're going to die, perhaps more than other games, but it's still not on the level of Ninja Gaiden, for example.

The bad thing is that the headlines will read "PC gamers do not support good games" instead of "PC gamers do not support bad ports."

GFWL? Check.
Straight port by people who don't care about PC gamers? Check.

Avoid at all costs.

No offense to the OP. I'm sure it's great on console, but that's doesn't make up for this.

It is a real challenge, and the difficulty can be overcome by skill - with enough experience, even the most difficult opponents are a f*cking cakewalk, whereas in games such as ME3 on insanity some opponents just take years to finish, even if you are great.

That, and also that Dark Souls is by far the most immersive game the world has ever seen.

But then, playing a bad port is better than either not playing the greatest game ever at all, or buying a console just for one single game.
