I used to find this fight hard but it's a lot easier now. In the first room... drop the first couple of dudes from inside the entrance tunnel, then work your way up the slope on the right. Works a treat.

In the second room, I find things are a lot easier if you can set up ASAP just outside the door on the RHS, drop the first couple of engies before they get a turret down (sniper helps). If you;re not game to try charging the last guy left on the far RHS, you can actually finish the level mostly from in the doorway where you can restock ammo as needed.

Bloody pain with a vanguard though really. If you have access to sabotage by golly this area is so much easier.

Run up the stairs to the right and take cover. Shoot the shield generators and shield pythons first. Next take out the combat engineers so that they don't keep on mounting turrets. Then, centurions, so they stop throwing grenades at you. All else is just a matter of patience.

Yeah I agree, I had mad problems with that part as well :) I played on the hardest difficulty as a Vanguard. Tricky dicky to say the least, I did eventually make it after about 15 minutes. Just try to be methodical and have patience, don't rush it. Try to take out the barrier engines and all that and focus on everything after that.

The engineers were the biggest pain in the arse for me here. I tried staying back (so difficult to resist using charge) and I tried running to the upper level right away. But in the end I found it was best to charge the engineer by the atlas before he could set his turret and take out those shield generator things. Getting Liara to set up biotic explosions for Shep to detonate with charge was useful. Charging in this part can lead to death but not charging at all will lead to boring.

I don't know if you're still stuck, but the way I got past it (Infiltrator) was to actually stand in the doorway as it opens and snipe as many people as I possibly could until my ammo ran out, forcing/commanding my squad to take cover behind the doorway, and even when the ammo ran out, I used powers (with theirs) to do it. Patience, patience, patience for the insanity run.

Some may call it cheating. I'd suggest that, just for this one, you play it like a soldier (or infil) and snipe it out from a distance; bring along Liara for the stasis if you must. You COULD go in guns-blazing, take cover, move from cover to cover, etc., and that may work, but the way I give you is the sure-fire way for desperate times lol. Liara could stasis people and/or singularity them to temporarily stop them shooting at you, and EDI (I think) could sabotage the turrets. I'm not too sure about the latter because my infiltrator had the sabotage ability so I just did it myself. Sabotaging turrets and atlases helped out a lot.
