Questions:
This is the real kick in the pants to me. The silence that has been shown since the announcment of the EC on April 5th has been nothing but disconcerting. An incredibly vague PR statement was created and then a great majority of the fanbase was left in the dark with nothing to grab hold of. I've come to the conslusion that the reason silence is reigning over us is because any real talk over the endings would be an admission of guilt. Alas the same is true with the silence that we have now. I can certainly understand not talking while you are in the pre-production stages but once a project begins to take shape certain things need to trickle down. Then we have things like this that trickle down and it only serves to make things worse.
I didn't ask what you want. I asked what you expect. There is a difference.
This type of questioning boggles my mind but I have already created a thread discussing this. My real mindscrew also comes from Mr. Priestly and was posted today.
I respond poorly to demands.
There seems to be an assumption that people are demanding a great deal from the staff on Twitter and yet responses are still being generated. Why are you still responding? Why are you still talking to the people you don't want to change the game for? Wouldn't it be more prudent to simply NOT respond to said people? All it does is invoke rage and animosity towards you.
I get the feeling that a great deal of us simply want answers and as such Bioware has indeed screwed the perpetual pooch here. As an artist you are obligated to take questions. You do not have to give direct answers but you MUST accept criticism. If you cannot do that you have no right to claim artistry. The Cannes Film Festival does this explicitly because they KNOW that people will want to ask questions.
You have every right to ask why things are the way they are ladies and gentlemen.
The problem is, is that we have only received a sort of muddled response from everyone. This communication breakdown reveals a rather bizarre trend in how information is handeled to me. I ask one employee on thing and get a completely seperate response from another. Is information not being shared? Do you not expect people to notice that the stories do not add up? It's almost as if Bioware is scrambling to find answers themselves. I truly cannot fathom what is going on anymore because it makes no sense.
I know for a fact that movie producers will change endings based upon ONE bad screening and said theatre can contain only one hundred people. Those films cost, far, far more to make than games and are almost always hinged upon whether or not a test audience likes them. Sixty thousand people is more than enough for a sample size. I know Harvey Weinstein does what he does because I've seen him do it. Mr. Weinstein has changed films on far, far less terms.
You need to start asking more questions ladies and gentlemen. Silence, like a cancer, grows and should we not be ready for whatever happens a great number of us are going to be stuck in a rut again. Ask questions now and ask them without hesitation.
Why are the endings the way they are?
Why do you feel it has to be this way?
Did you expect us to enjoy whatever came out?
Did you expect we wouldn't want closure?
Who wrote "X" section(s)?
It's a bit like the Tantalus myth. Whenever the fanbase seeks to grab some nourishment, the water and food pull away from them. Bioware is more than capable of providing answers but have elected not to do so. What are you playing at?
Don't be so forlorn though, it's just the payoff
The rain before the storm.
