Bioware created something that part of the hardcore fanbase did not want.

And have suffered for it.

The root of the problem is right there.

Yup, and Hardcore entitlement has shown exactly why the game industry will always focus on the broader more casual players.

Sad but true. Im pretty sure that ME3 was the last true Mass Effect game we'll ever see. And it's even more sad that it had to end this way.
The next Mass Effect game we see will just have the label "Mass Effect" but it will probably be some RTS or MMO rubbish. Either that or a pure FPS shooter with much pew-pew and big explosions!

Who cares?  It's obvious the will and talent to make another ME1 or ME2 does not exist anymore.

That talent left with Drew K.

Then speak in generalities. Everything can be reduced to a nonspecific concept.

Stop trying to make an argument. "I'm afraid that it's possible they could be trying to" do what?

You don't have to say why you think that or where you've seen it done before or in what context.

It isn't what they are trying.

It's what has already transpired.

It has nothing to do with the extended cut.

I'm quite literally biting my fingernail (skin) in suspense. Edgar Allen Poe reincarnate perhaps? And no that is not meant to be sarcastic.

My fear is what happened in the development cycle itself, not what is happening now in this new one.

I've been hinting at it for a while but I didn't want to believe that. I don't know what to believe anymore.

As far as I'm concerned it can't get any worse. If the EC fails the franchise is dead and buried for me anyway.
So please, go ahead and enlighten us =)

Let me gather my notes and I'll do something on Monday.

It's just a possibility, remember that. I won't make any claims to ever know what happened.

Yes, it truly is.... I had hopes for ME3, even when D.K. announced he was leaving the series to focus more on writing books, but didn't expect Walters to screw things up this bad. He had a damn good teacher.

Then it's even less relevant to argue the case, and certainly nothing you really have to try to back up with your own personal experience.

"I think this may have happened" is still compelling, even if you don't later go on to argue "because I saw it happen the same way here".

Also, it has to have some effect for what the extended cut may or may not be, since you originally claimed to want to withhold the information until the extended cut is released.

I want information to trickle down and not be released in a large state, something to the effect of a set photo being sent out on Twitter.

It's a possibility, not an argument.

I don't understand your intractability. You've been baiting this issue for hours now. So put it out there, and if necessary, you can expand on it at a later date.

It makes no sense to continue to percolate but then not actually produce anything.

"I'm afraid that what happened could have been" what?

You can't rush a great suspense and or thriller, can you imagine if people had rushed Poe on his writing of the Raven?

Of course. But not to wrestle creative control.

There is a difference.

However, changing it from what they presented to something different is, in fact, forcing them to alter their creative vision, and the act of BioWare doing so is relinquishing their creative control over the story.

Force implies violence.  This is persuasion - on a massive scale.  This is non-violent protest.  It is good and right that we should do this in defense of art.

Also - art gets critiqued.  All of it does.  Artist critiques can be the most painful experience an artist ever goes through.  For them to come off arrogant in the face of it is a poor evolutionary strategy.

I'm not trying bait anyone and I apologize for such a thing.

I simply want to be absolutely sure about what I'm going to say before I say it.

No, it probably won't change the world but the possibility of the so called "shroud of nonsense" that could have surround the top level Bioware staff could be exactely what we're looking at.

I can't create a summation of my fears without preparing first, please, understand that.

The buttons have already been pushed. Nothing I can say or do will change that.

I can offer a worst case scenario though. One that you need to be aware of.

This is the other side of the development process.

If you think they're going to abandon the Mass Effect IP, you should know this.  Given the vector Bioware has been on since DA2, I hope they do.

No. It's not that it was malicious on their part, I do not believe that.

What I do believe is a severe disconnect from the market, artistry and peer review.

Something completely out of their element.

If you have nothing to say, then don't respond.

The same could be said of you.

Not in this instance it can't. I had something to say and don't appreciate non responses that do nothing to advance the discussion.

Now you know how a lot of us feel with Bioware's non-responses when we had something to say.

You, sir (or madam) have been played like a violin by Taboo-XX.

If they plan on abandoning the IP they need to sell it to someone that can give it the CPR that it desperately needs. And whoever they sell it to, needs to hire Drew K. and stay the **** out of his way.

I don't understand it. If the point-by-point is necessary, it can be expounded upon later, after you prepare.

You shouldn't need any preparation for a feeling. Clearly you've seen something in the past, and due to similarities, you have a feeling that it may be happening here.

So what is it? Has BioWare management been replaced by aliens? Did Casey and Mac steamroll the current ending into place (this is basically what we all already believe)? Did they want to destroy the franchise rather than let it be bastardized? Did a single person manage to dupe everyone into believing his own vision?

You have the information you need because you post about it every time a new quote from BioWare comes around. And now the time has come to just say it. I promise it can be done, and you can build on it at a later time if you feel like it.
