Uwe Boll is terrible. Please do not bring Uwe Boll up.

I need a director whose films are recognizable to everyone but aren't in the vein of someone like Spielberg, simply because is FAR to simple for what I'm looking for.

Sam Raimi?

Whedon? His stuff is almost universally recognizable in tone and "feel".

While he is terrible, he is consistently terrible... what about Paul Anderson, or maybe the Wacowski bro/sister combo.

Better one - Tarantino. Love him or hate him (me, I'm casually indifferent, m'self...), you've got to admit, the guy has a distinctive style...

Ah yes. Mr Tarantino. I'll put him on the list as a possibility. Give me some more names. BRAINSTORM.

He really likes women's feet.

That's how I think. IRONICALLY.

Although it isn't in the same capacity (Nowhere near) I have a tendency to act like Cumberbatch does in Sherlock.

I told a woman tonight at dinner that she wore the same dress tonight one year ago at the same event.

Intriguing.

I don't feel so bad now. I posted the same thing literally five minutes ago.

How about del Toro?

I'm no film expert, so I couldn't break it down technically, but it always struck me that Mann has a distinctive way of shooting night time scenes in particular. For movies about incredibly disparate subjects, The Insider and Collateral seem to look quite similar.

If it's not a constraint that the example be of a great director, you might go with Paul Greengrass. By now, everyone's pretty familiar with the quick-cutting and shaky cam techniques that take up so much of the Bourne movies. Even if they haven't seen specifically his films, they've probably seen imitators. Of course, everyone's probably seen Peckinpah imitators as well, so maybe that's still a better example. I'm just throwing out some random thoughts.

There's a good one! Way to think outside of the box! He goes on the list as a possible candidate!

I love del Toro's work.

Michel Gondry. You can't not recognize his style.

I've never seen one of Gondry's film but I'm well aware of his style. Even that permeates my mind when it's brought up.

Ah, Ridley. A style so easily recognizable, you can almost just have lots of floating particles in the shot and know it's him.

John Hughes is too sentimental even for me.

Not that I don't like his movies.

del Toro would work best with what I would be trying to convey.

If you haven't seen Mimic go and do so.

That's it. Right there.

Excelsior.

Ah, yes Burton. I like him. He's fun.

He could however be overtaken by del Toro. Both employ a Gothic sense of horror and wonder in their films.

I do love that Sweeney Todd though......

I LOVE David Cronenberg.

Kind man. He doesn't care about money and I've heard him say that. He gave up his salary to film Spider.

They call him..........the king of venereal horror.

Just in case you want another: Pedro Almodóvar. Dunno if that'll be of any use, but...
