Strange noises inside Normandy

And if we tie the Reaper tech and the strange noises in the Normandy, it seems that the ship's crew is falling in some kind of indoctrination.

I thought it was kind of interesting you can almost hear Vigil (ME1 menu song) inside the war room, the slighted filtered and slowed version they use often in ME3. I might be imagining it but I swear you can hear the first motif of that song inside that room.
I actually noticed that immediatley when I got the demo back in February, you can hear it on the Main Menu too.
And here I thought I was imagining things when I first started up the main menu. Vigil is my favourite song from ME, so I just asumed I heard it 'cause I wanted to hear it.

I've just remembered something. In ME2, you need the Reaper's IFF to travel through the Omega 4 relay. So, after that, the IFF is still installed on the Normandy right? So the Normandy contains actually Reaper tech.
And if we tie the Reaper tech and the strange noises in the Normandy, it seems that the ship's crew is falling in some kind of indoctrination.
You are right! I totally forgot about that.
Would actually makes sense. That and vega's hum.

Where's the Reaper IFF installed? On the Normandy's core? The Docking Bay is near the core, so maybe that's why Vega listen/feels that hum.

Yeah, I think it was installed on the core, or at least I seem to recall that. Not sure though.
However, Shepard knowing the danger of the Reaper technology with all his experiences, like the dead reaper, wouldn't he have thought to get rid of it once back from the Collector's base?

Didn't they use IFF for scanning star systems?
Also scanning attracts Reapers on ME 3 and testing IFF provided Collectors an opportunity to capture Normandy.

Maybe some, he did it one by one because his crew became indoctrinated one by one.

So after seeing this thread, I decided to try this myself, to see what all this were about.
After having searched all the ship, for ghosts, my faithful headphones on the head, with the sound to high volume, I actually have to admit that, sometimes, some "out of context" noises can be heard.
For example, when I stood in front of the memorial, I distinctly heard women screams and sobbing for something less than 2 seconds, no more, then it totally stopped.
After that, I tried the observation deck, nothing here, then the Main Battery. Heard some insect-like noise, and some weird whistling too, when you go right to the end of the Battery.
I remember that some indoctrinated soldiers told us about that in the collector ship in me2, a really disturbing and unsettling noise, and it actually seemed like it, even disturbing for me personally.
After, since I was in the battery, it can be some ambiant noises to definy the atmosphere so, no real clues.
Engineering deck, I heard a woman screaming in front of the Javik door, while I didn't recruit him yet.
And finally, on the armory/Vega floor, that was the most distinct.
With the constant hum, come sometimes some weird noises, that can recall the reaper horn we heard throughout the game.
Of course, all this is pure facts from my experience, and it could anyway be misinterpreted ambiant noises.
Still, interesting experience, I shall try to hear more of the ambiance of the Normandy in my next games.
O_______O
Reading this, I can't help but shiver. My nips reacted as soon as I read the part about the woman screaming, and the hum that James mentioned; that is all WAY too creepy, haha.
And now that some of you mention it, the Normandy DID seem to be sort of... darker than before.
I'm kind of scared to replay ME3 now, in case I hear a woman screaming while I'm exploring the lower decks (which have always kinda creeped me out).
I wonder if any of this might be related to the old Normandy crew that was abducted by the Reapers? Did you guys import a save from ME2 where half, or all of the Normandy crew were killed by the Collectors? Perhaps the insect wings are related to the collectors; they had insect-like wings. And the woman screaming may be one of the crew that was abducted? A wild, WILD guess, but wouldn't that be creepy? The Normandy has seen a lot of dark ****, maybe it IS haunted, hah.
Hehe, thought the same about that, however, I imported my principal save where my Shepard paragon did everything to save all his crew, no one being left behind.
Still, since the very beginning of the game, I thought that there were something wrong with this Normandy, and I never ever had this sensation in ME1 and ME2. Really don't know where this feeling comes from. After all, it's just a game.
But there is something... there. o_o
When I started playing (It was very late at night) I was creeped out and thought I heard noises, I told myself I was paranoid but I kept hearing them after a few weeks of playing, guess I'm not crazy after all!

I guess I can remember that too, it's still hardly understandable to think they left a reaper device on the normandy, knowing the dangers of it.

Same here, felt unconfortable for the first time inside the normandy since the beginning of the saga

Risk versus reward. They used IFF to get through Omega 4 relay as well.

Yes, but they could have dropped it just after that, they already had some kind of "scan system" anyway.
But the new scan system could have been a way to keep it on board, furthermore supporting the IT.

Haha yeah, seriously, sometimes I was thinking I would just have some creepy and disgusting hallucinations on the normandy, showing my crew slaughtered or whatever.
Didn't happen fortunately.

-"Rana Thanoptis, an asari neuroscientist on Virmire, goes into more detail. She describes indoctrination as a subtle whisper you can't ignore, that compels you to do things without knowing why."
This explains the actual whispers inside the Normandy.
-"Over days, perhaps a week of exposure to Sovereign's signal, the subject stops thinking for themselves and just obeys, eventually becoming a mindless servant."
-"Only people with immense mental strength are able to resist indoctrination, and even then, only for a short time."
Shepard, and other squadmates like Garrus are known by their mental strength, making them more resistant to indoctrination than other people. Then, after Shepard gets shot by Harby's Lazor , he is phisycal and mentally weak, and you can appreciate at TIM's final conversation how is Shepard having headaches and things like that.
Then, with the Catalyst, Shepard just obeys, like a mindless servant.

I agree about all that, but despite his strength, Shepard isn't immune to indoctrination, and he is one of the humans who have been the most exposed to it since the beginning, him and his crew.
We can say that all the effort to indoctrinates him weakened him, slowly but effectively.
And that's where the end comes.
This documentary pretty much sums it up, nothing about the noises on the normandy tho.
Ah and we also have the unsettling noises reports on the dead reaper in ME2. In some parts of the normandy (end of the main battery) you can hear really unsettling and disturbing whistling.
