I actually just recently watched the IT documentary and posted a question asking how Shepard could be slowly indoctrinated when he/she spends large chunks of time away from reapers and their tech. I wondered if it was possible for a reaper to be following Shep around and broadcasting a signal, hence the nightmares aboard the Normandy. This theory of the IFF makes so much sense if IT is true and I have to admit, something about the Normandy in ME3 always made me bristle.

Edit: I don't remember trees being in the last room with Starbrat. Crud, I don't want to play that scene again but now I'm curious.

I still can't shake the feeling that the hum in the shuttle bay is a tribute to Airplane! because it still sounds like riding in a prop-plane to me.

Heard about it, but it seems it was actually technical mishaps, since the trees are the same we get once the dad speak with his child about "the Shepard".

No, theyre not, they change depending on what choices you have available. If it was asset reuse and laziness there would only be one cubemap, not 3 different ones that trigger depending on your EMS.

Are these legitimately the cube maps? The last one seems super low-res.

They're legit, I don't remember why the last one was low res though... something about how those ones were smaller when he pulled them frm the files or something.

This is like my favorite BSN thread ever. So creepy and informative at the same time.

I am doing the same, and it's a fact, the ambiant sounds and musics of this ME3 takes a big place into its globally unsettling ambiance, at least for me.

And yep, really interesting thread indeed.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the sounds to come up or is it random?

Totally random, you can just pass by and hear it, or wait for minutes and not hear any.
Some are nearly constants tho, for hums and whistlings.

The screams, sobbings and laughings however are randoms, but tends to happen near the memorial, or in Shepard's cabin, even got one when facing javik door.

I think it's random. I was touring the Normandy and when I got to my quarters I heard a child running and laughing.

Also, there was just something about the whole last mission that was off and extremely creepy. Between the room full of bodies with the mindless keeper I tried and failed to shoot and the second room with the shifting chambers I had a distinctly wrong feeling about the whole thing. I would say it's like the entire place was trying to portray itself as alive but in a twisted, very wrong way.

If your are now searching for creepy sounds, go to Garrus' place (the battery) and move to the end of one of the both corridors. If you wait there a few seconds, you can clearly hear the kid's laugh. I'm doing this now, and I've heard it 3 times.

I'm triying to record it and upload it to youtube.

Oh, didn't got that, I should try it later. Garrus wasn't in the battery so maybe it's because of that.
All i got in this place was an awful whistling, hard to bear at high volumes. Maybe I didn't wait enough. Looking forward your video. =]

The trees are the same tree's that we see when we first see the kid at the beginning of the game.

I tried this, didn't hear anything but I DID hear someone laughing in the mess hall after I got out of Garrus' room.

If you have the PC version and want to check out the game's files for yourself, I put some tools on sendspace:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/rkpyyc

Also, if you've completed the game, please message me on here if you could and send me your LegendSave file from the game folder, since this has a currently unknown purpose and I want to analyse them with a hex editor to see what info may be being passed over to the DLC...

Oh great, thanks for creeping me out, I wasn't planning on sleeping anyway.

Also, by now EVERYTHING in ME3 has gotten creepy. I'll never be able to play it again.

Bioware is in collabaration with Visceral to merge the Dead Space and Mass Effect universes,in ME4, Shepard and Isaac are going to team up to save the galaxy from the Necromorphs, wich have been hiding in the Normandy vents since ME2

I have just recorded the kid laugh at Garrus room, but with FRAPS and 30 seconds it weights like 300 mb. You know of a better recording tool for pc?

This game is full of some of the freakiest sh#t I have ever heard in a video game, check out the sounds in the dream sequence

Every where feels creepy in this game, especially the normandy. I feel like I am constantly being watched.

I see your reaper noises and give you every background from the dream sequences, including the lines you hear from dead squadmates without any of the reverb :D

Also note that there is a substantial hum in shepard's cabin at ~40Hz, right on the bottom end of what most consumer speakers/headphones will produce properly, which may be worth noting.
There's nothing sounding like people in the main normandy sounds folder, but they can call from other sounds, so it's possible they're calling from something in the dream sequences (have a look at the video I linked above)

38.89 Hz = E flat
41.20 Hz = E

Reaper growl: E (from playing "Leaving Earth" on my guitar)

Coincidence? Might be, since a lot of music cues in ME are in E or E minor, like Leaving Earth but so is the Dream tune. :alien:

so.. basically the sounds from your dream? The ones that haunt you. Interesting... Does anyone know if it happens more often near the end?
