The laughter I heard is not this one. It was a child's laughter...
If I ever hear it again I'll be sure to record it.

Edit: Also I recommend touring the 1st floor where Shep's quarters are, it was there I heard the footsteps and the laughter. (but again the sounds are random and you may not hear it....)

Same here, I will try to make a video about the weird screams I heard before.

I've put a replay button at the description just at the moment of the laugh. It's between seconds 00:01 and 00:02. You have to listen to it with headphones and full volume.

I don't think that was the laugh, or maybe others who said they heard the kid laughing could confirm that that was the same sound. I think that sounds like the "insect" noise people described in the main battery room, but I would even write that off as a noise being part of the electronic ambiance.

I'm really curious to hear the woman screaming that people have been describing. Could anyone capture some video of that? I would try, but I don't have ME3 on PC, unfortunately.

Ok, I heard those, too, along the hallway towards Liara's office. I interpretated it just as women's laughter, but didn't find it similar to the Child's laughter. But maybe it's better to listen to in-game.

There is something there yeah, not a sound I already heard tho. I will check that later, thanks for the video!

I'm sorry for the sound quality, I know it's hard to listen. Also the other times I heard laughs were louder, but that one sounds very low. I'll try to record some noises like that again.

I have just recorded the kid laugh at Garrus room, but with FRAPS and 30 seconds it weights like 300 mb. You know of a better recording tool for pc?

OMG I can't wait for this!!!

You can get Handbrake to condence the file size if that helps.

Thanks!!

Holy **** :o
That's one of the laughter sounds from the dream files - it's calling sound files from the dream folder to use in gameplay...

Now that IS interesting

FFFFUUUU I just heard clearly the kid's laugh and wasn't recording! AAARRGGG!! And like someones said, the laugh of the video is not the same as the kid, it's more like a woman laugh, but I caught it while recording.

If you go to the mess, around the tables, you'll hear that same laugh louder. There's nobody but Garrus (and Tali) in the gun battery, so of course this sound's gonna be fainter over there..

Guys, those of you that are getting these sounds, it'd be really helpful if you could post where you are in the game (in terms of missions).

I just recorded another creepy laugh in front of Javik's door! But it's too late here (2:30 a.m.) and I'll upload it tomorrow, I promise.

I stood in front of the memorial for a good bit with headphones on and never heard anything that struck me as weird. Just some beeping noises, an occasional long ringing, and other computerized sounds mixed with the chick laughing that I always considered being random crew noise.

I thought it was kind of interesting you can almost hear Vigil (ME1 menu song) inside the war room, the slighted filtered and slowed version they use often in ME3. I might be imagining it but I swear you can hear the first motif of that song inside that room.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who heard that, I thought I was losing my mind.

I had to run the vid a few times to try to hear it. Barely audble. I myself don't hear such sounds because the hum of the engines is irritating. It could be my sound system has a stronger bass so the thrum was slightly overwhelming. Hence, I always keep all others but the dialogue volume low.

If this is suppose to be IT; what, the entire crew is getting indoctrinated? Image IPB  That might well explain the "zombie" patrolling around CIC and the crew deck.

Ok, I uploaded it, but going to sleep now. You can hear a laugh between 00:22 and 00:23.

Speculate!

Or if anyone has a way to enhance the sounds to separate them out from the ship hum?

Okay, THAT time I heard it. Definitely a woman laughing. Could that be some ambiance that they added, like it's meant to be someone from the crew laughing? I think if we can record the woman screaming, that would really be something.

Thanks for making these, Dantexr3!

Right before Priority Earth. It's a wonder why people are laughing so hard when the Reapers are winning and it's time to hit Earth, but maybe they're just watching a vid, maybe Home Improvement or something like that.. ^_^

I just tried something interesting, I've got some rackmount gear currently between my PC and some audio gear (I do a bit of music production) so I tried something interesting.
Filtered everything above 25Hz (harshly, 36dB/octave) and sent the resulting infrasonic to a nice sub.

There's loads of it.

An interesting thought given that infrasound is known for causing unusual psychological effects (possibly an evolutionary thing since volcanos, earthquakes and tsunamis all produce it in vast quantities).

That one in the first vid is calling one of the child's files from the dream sequence (interesting in itself...):

article on infrasound experiment in Wiki "The participants were not told which pieces included the low-level 17 Hz near-infrasonic tone. The presence of the tone resulted in a significant number (22%) of respondents reporting anxiety, uneasiness, extreme sorrow, nervous feelings of revulsion or fear, chills down the spine and feelings of pressure on the chest."

Not a great source for anything but I thought what you said was interesting and googled it. Maybe it was done on purpose since ME3 is all about being dark and emanating a feeling of anxiety.

Edit: I found a peer reviewed article claiming the same thing through wind turbine affects but I can't link it because a student ID is required to pull it up.

There was an article on Kotaku about Mass Effect sound and a sound producer was in the comments confirming the vigil theme in the war room

Could be a bit of an easter egg type thing, since infra-sound is part of indoctrination.
