Whenever I read anything they do, I just shake my head.
Isn't free server support for multiplayer inferred in the sales contract? If not, I'd claim there has been a "mistake", nullifying the sales contract.

Given the incredible windfall players have been getting in value re: games this past decade (as cost of production have skyrocketed and prices have stayed stagnant) it's pretty easy to see why companies are trying to find alternative revenue streams.

If anything it just shows that the consumer will pay for anything and EA is merely reacting to this. You can't fault a company since all companies first concern is the bottom line.
Companies are made out of humans, which are moral entities. If you choose to be selfish and greedy, you deserve blame. Doesn't matter what you are running.
