When I enter the castle during the Darkspawn invasion of Redcliffe, I fight two waves of hurlocks. And once I killed them and wait for the next wave, the game stops working. It immediately shuts down and the computer tells me that it stopped working. I replayed the mission a number of times, many times differently. But no matter what I do, the game tells me "screw you, I'm out of here".

Any idea what in the world is going on?

Please check the stickies, especially "READ FIRST" which will tell you how to report a problem better. I suspect a system/performance issue here.

Help others to help you.

What version patch are you using? Which version of Dragon Age are you playing? For example Dragon Age: Ultimate edition with update 1.05.

Personally I found 1.05 is making my game to unstable to play with. I reinstalled and left the Ultimate Edition with 1.04. No performance issues and plays better too.

Sorry to hear that. 1.05 helps more people than it hinders, but that seems to be mainly because of the DLC authentication side of things.

Normally when the game crashes I check the event viewer to gain a better understanding as to what caused the game to crash like BEX error or something but all it said was the exe of the game encountered a problem.

No stackhash error or memory error or anything just dragonage.exe (or whatever the exe is called) has encountered an error. :(

Ok. First off, sorry for not reading the "read first" topic before this. I'll make this clearer now.

Game
Edition: The original Dragon age: Origins PC version.

Game media
format:  Retail disc.

Patch: The
latest one, the 1.05 patch.

 Processor type: Intel® Core™ i3 CPU I
believe

Amount of
system RAM:  4GB

Windows version:
Win 7 Home Premium, 64-bit

What is the nature of the problem you are seeing?

The game shuts down after a specific wave of monsters in the game have been dealt with.

When did the problem start occurring?

As soon as I got to Redcliffe castle during the darkspawn invasion, it started to happen.
I never got beyond that point in any other save, so it was my first time being there in this version.

How frequently does this problem occur?

Every time I enter the area it happens. The same way as well.

Where in the game does your problem occur?

In the beginning of the final quest, when I arrive at Redcliffe when it's under a darkspawn attack. After I dealt with the darkspawn at the village, I head to the castle that is also under attack. When I arrive, I face a squad of them that attacks the soldiers of Redcliffe. Once they are defeated, I quickly enconter another wave of Hurlock grunts. And once they are defeated and the party sheathed their weapons before the next wave comes, the game shuts down and brings me back to the computer desktop.

What are the steps in replicating the problem? As much as possible, try to describe exactly what you were doing when the problem occurred.

Firstly, I replayed that moment and did the same things, only to encounter the problem again. After that, I checked if the disk was damaged and discovered it was fine. When I started from another save file, it happened the same way as it did before. And even with switching party members, it still happens.

Have you modified your game in any way?

I used a number of mods. All of them are from either this site or Dragon Age Nexus. The ones I’ve used are:

The Grey wardens of Ferelden (A.K.A Warden armor)

Sleeping by Eshme

Storage chest

Kirkwall exports

Leliana's Sacred Ashes armor

The Winter Forge

Devout armor

The Phoenix Armory

I hope this helps.
