To mention at the Joining that you (like all Grey Wardens) would one day go mad and charge into the Deep Roads to die.
Know what would have been nice of Duncan?

No, he planned to tell you that once you get married, have kids and settle in.

it'd be nice, but that would mean you DIDN'T become one and there wouldn't be any game. you would have died at Highever, or wherever you're from.

We were meant to be told a lot of things, however a slight case of Dead put a small dent in Duncans' plans to teach us how to be Wardens, and for the most part, its not like most of us have much other choice. If not for Duncan we'd all be dead. If we didn't become Wardens, then most likely the rest of Ferelden would shortly after follow us.
Duncan's doing what must be done, sacrificing the few in order to save the rest of the land. Yeah it kinda sucks, but we get to be heroes and besides glorious ballads are never written about "Tony, the Accountant, who lived a peaceful and boring life until his death, surrounded by his family at the ripe of age of 90"

I think the more important information as a female would be the broodmother situation, but maybe they hadn't had enough female Wardens lately to know about that properly. Wandering that far into the Deep Roads did seem to be new.
The joining, the death, the Archdemon quandary, all of it is nothing compared to that!

Duncan is not *nice*.
His weakness is more or less than he already considers himself so much of a ruthless badass that he doesn't consider the possibility other people might have their own agenda that involves using him.
By which, of course, I mean King Alistair. =P
Yes, he planned it all from the start.
