Well, the GPR is not completely bad either, it depends on the class using it - power-centric classes should do fine with GPR.
If the players are good, they should be able to stream headshots to deal with the small guys fast during cooldowns.

The only thing is, a GPR has a hard time going from being decent, to actually being good. It's main strength lies in being able to pop ammo effects ludicrously fast. If you want a light weight assault rifle that kills fast and is a good all round weapon, the Vindicator is fantastic

It still only does like 5 damage on gold, going drell melee-only is more useful.

Going up against enemies as a Geth with the pulse rifle and a 200% cooldown + Overload will make you more potent than a velociraptor with a gun. It's how you use the gun, not it's base stats that count. As a lmg with Incendiary/Disruptor/Cryo ammo, it's damn good for stopping enemies in their tracks.

High fire rate.
Medium damage.
High accuracy.
Low recoil.
Insane magazine size.

In fact all I see is good stuff about it.

And if you have a problem with the Avenger... then you obviously suck at this game.

Sure if you spec towards power damage you won't kill anything with it... but that is the case with the majority of automatic weapons.

Learn to spec your classes and you will find that it is the best weapon in the game for killing anything that is not armored. It is EXTREMELY versatile compared to lets say the Hurricane which can only be used out to 75m effectively unless using a Turian. Long range? No problem! Close range? No problem! Mid-range? Hell yeah.

It noms on some Cerberus for breakfast and eats Reapers for a snack.

If you have trouble killing armor then take a Carnifex as a secondary. Don't QQ to me about how that increases weight too much, because you are QQing that the best auto assault rifle is a terrible gun.

I am guessing that you only aim for body shots as well... which doesn't usually kill anything very fast.

Basically you are saying that you can't cut down a tree because you are only sawing off the branches.

Seriously now? Geth hunter mode+weapon bonuses with a geth pulse rifle does perfectly fine damage on gold to mooks and with a geth smg sidearm you can headshot massacre bosses surprisingly quickly.. But of course you kick people because they use things differently than you so I don't care anyway. Just get headshots which are easy with both weapons.

Granted, I'm not fond of the GPR, but I haven't maxed it out, either.

Its good on the Geth Engineer. Plus it gives you a decent recharge rate.

The GPR isn't that bad. It's a beast with ammo powers and it does quite a bit of damage with a Geth and an AR rail amp. Plus, it has no recoil so a stream of headshots is really easy to pull off, increasing the damage even more.

You know, I'll ignore the opinion of the guy with the GPR at level IV, who doesn't even have all his mods maxed out.

Agree with everybody here, OP is just wrong.
Tier for tier, weighs about the same as an Avenger but with higher accuracy, less recoil, a bigger magazine, etc.
Casters can usually fire off 2 or 3 powers before needing to reload, and can use their power-spamming to chuck in a reload-cancel. Headshots are easy, and armor can be countered in a number of ways;
I usually load out with AP+EB, and on top of that you've got powers like cryo, warp, and proxy mine to debuff armor, plus rail amp and ammo powers; which, given the now permanent jumbo-equipment pack, should be considered a viable strategy. Not all guns' weaknesses can be supplemented with consumables.

Yeah, sure. Also, if they have the piercing mod, extended barrel mod, and armor piercing ammo equipped, the weapon will get the job done for any class that doesn't depend on heavy weapon fire.

Yes, the mighty geth water cannon is underwhelming as hell overall, but it's ridiculously stupid to kick someone just because they are using it.

It doesn't merely do bad damage against armor. It does bad damage against everything. 361-451 DPS is bad, especially for something that has all the disadvantages of a weapon that requires sustained fire.

   It's better than the Eagle too, but that doesn't mean it's a good weapon.
