When are (some) people gonna learn that adepts, engineers, etc., can be more useful supporting other classes, rather than trying to get a highest score?

A GPR with cyro ammo is great for setting up kills, but won't rack up high scores (d'uh!).  And casting classes usually hold a gun *for show*, since BE is way more important.  It's something called *teamwork*.

Whatever you think that means.

It weighs more than twice as much as a Predator, deals considerably less damage than one, has the same rate of fire as one, and is much less accurate than one.  And that's comparing it to a very weak weapon.

The Locust, also a terrible weapon, does nearly the same DPS as the Avenger, weighs less, and is more accurate.

A Mattock is more accurate and has more than twice the DPS, for example.

Not that heavy either...and insanely accurate.

Allow me to introduce you to the Raptor. Lightweight for a sniper rifle, applies even like lvl 1 cryo ammo on virtually every shot. Also does far more damage than the GPR.

Is it just me or do sniper rifles in general seem to be better at applying ammo effects?  It seems like my Black Widow applies level 1 disruptor ammo on just about every shot.  And my assault rifles don't.

While it's true that some comparably useful actions score disproportionately to each other, some things actually just suck. Also, I rack up plenty of kills with my guns on my casting classes... be it a Paladin, Carnifex, Talon, Scorpion, Raptor, Geth Plasma Shotgun, Graal Spike Thrower, or even the Claymore (with a power efficiency module).

If you believe the Geth Pulse Rifle is a horrible weapon, then I'm sorry to say that you have no idea how to effectively use it. I can easily outscore any other class regularly when using it without equipment, and can take down heavy targets faster than others when I do use equipment. The lack of any real recoil and high accuracy allows you to place nearly every shot into the head hitbox or weak points on heavy targets. This alone can let you take targets down as fast if not faster than an Infiltrator with a Widow X. All of this is on Gold as well.

If you don't believe me, then you're welcome to send me a message with your gamertag if you're on XBL. I'd be more than happy to play a game on Gold and show you just how well it can do in the right hands.

It is safe to say a GPR I and a GPR X make quite a big difference, but anything lower than level VI with whatever mods on it will not help the team much in gold.

I've once made a mistake of allowing a GPR I into a gold game. It did not end well at all.

i play asari justicar with avenger x with piercing mod and barrel mod....i find it extremely good and versatile plus it gives me no weight... more often than not coming in 1st place..if you're into that sorta thing.. so stop badmouthing the avenger!! not every class is buildt for GPS and widows...

What's terrible about it?  High RoF, high accuracy, with a scope it's basically 80 headshots per clip, with piercing mod attached it's great for power characters and those that don't rely on weapons as a primary.

On an AA or AJA, about level IV or V it stops weighing anything, 200% CD at all times.

It does 5 damage on gold.

 

Only against armor. Throw on extended barrel, armor piercing mods, and armor piercing ammo and you can negat that completely.

This.

Add to that a Turian Marksman power, and you will ROCK.  You can take out an Atlas solo (on Gold) if you have Armor Piercing 3 in just over one clip...

150k is what I get on average, regardless of who I play with.  If I have to carry scrubs, I usually hit 170k-200k.

Not to mention the Avenger has the fastest reload for an AR.  Kind of important when you are running low on a clip and that cannibal/trooper/fill in the blank enemy is advancing on you.  On Gold, fast reloads take precedence over rate of fire and almost equal the advantage of higher DPS. 

That is actually the biggest knock on the GPR in my experience - very slow reload for a weapon that light with a low DPS.
