Better would be DA 3 having a self-contained story and gamers accepting that Dragon Age isn't Mass Effect and that each protagonist gets a single game.

I always thought that was the original plan, so I was kinda disappointed to see DA2 bring back characters from DA:O. Far better to deliberatly seperate each game, geographically and in terms of time.

This would require a proper epilogue for each game though, to give closure. DA:O's screens at the end were a great way to do it. Nice and simple and cheap.

My thoughts exactly. THey don't have to give away too much, just SOMETHING.

I really want to know about:

What happens with Merril's mirror
If Fenris remembers
If Aveline stays in Kirkwall
What Sabastian does with his title
What happens to Kirkwall
What happens to Bethany/Carver post-gallows
Does Meradeth's glowy statue thing just stay there...
The Bone Pit
What exactly happens with the Kossith

etc etc

Agreed. I really liked the slides and hope they make a return (as well as seeing in-game consequences), but I think in realtion to DAII there was a problem inluding simply because of choice. There was so little variation, consequences or real choices in DAII that it would have been extremely difficult to make sensical slides that had more than one or two versions.

We know there won't be anything else to complete hawke's stroy, or gameplay at least. So even though most of us fans voted against it: Epologes like in DA:O/DAO:A

Wouldn't it be better then having nothing?
This way we would at least get some closure to Hawke's story, insted of being left with nothing.

Example:

It could be relesed as a free DLC

Give your thoughts below, and what questions would you want addressed in the epiloge?

knowing bioware thye have done or have other plans in mind. I can see dragonage 3 having hawke in there some where. I donjt think bioware said they were for sure on what they were doing just maybes right?

The warden is bound to death because he did the ritual remeber wardens dont live a very long time. I wouldn't be surprised if hawke just said F'this and ends up in some bar getting wasted everyday. He's probably thinking there's no point in showing my face everyones trying to pin something on me no matter how much i did for everyone.

There is an even easier way, just say Hawke had a bad dream and fell of a mountain while sleep walking.

When I saw the title to this thread I got all excited because it seemed that chickens would finally assume their rightful place in Thedas. Alas, all my hopes and dreams were dashed.

So, no.

You could just have Hawke get lost at sea.

Only to be captured by Antivans because someone wants The Blood Of The Hawke.

The merchant princes don't know why they want it, but if the Carta was after it somebody must be buying...

Maybe they'll have someone tell a tale of Hawke or something in DA"3" hopefully. Like if we had a character in our party that was deeply involved with his story *cough* Casandra *cough*

I like epilogue cards. I went into Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 expecting Epilogue cards, but was sadly disappointed when I didn't get any.

For people who say they're cheap - if your options are nothing, or epilogue cards, which would you rather have? Cos all the closure you got at the end of DA:O through epilogue cards? The only other way you'd get anything close to that is if you got a movie at the end, or if they left the game open world and you had to run around and talk to a ton of NPC's - which would be the same as epilogue cards, only listening to it instead of reading it, and having to run around and sit through countless loading screens.

So YES TO EPILOGUE CARDS!

Warden wants a drink coincidentally hawke also wants to grab a drink, someone who thinks that people who frequent taverns are hugely oppressed and is overly broody decides to make a thermomagicular bomb and blows said tavern up. Sorted. Short comic would suffice.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Gaider wrote his next book about Hawke. It wouldn't be hard to leave out any mention of which side he/she took or who was romanced by focusing on wanting to forget the whole incident and move on, or explaining why Hawke is temporarily separated from the DAII companions. And it'd probably make Hawke male, but I'm okay with that, because everyone knows there are alternate universes involved between playthroughs.

yeah, just how "he" dissapeared would work well.

Canon endings are bad for games that are, or are likely to have sequels. Especially if, in the first game of the series, you can have completely different results than somebody else had. This series is especially bad for that, considering it could very easily have been King Warden, instead of King Alistair. If you're looking for a reason I'd say that, just re-read this thread. This is a lesson that should have carried over post Awakening, at any rate.

I totally agree that the epilogues are the best solution, given that they canceled DLC's for DA2 and by that any chance of appropriate closure on Hawke's story. They also worked great for DA:O.

Although I didn't like Hawke as much as the Warden, it kinda grew to my heart during playthroughs (especially FemHawke) and I would be pissed if they do some lame-ass closure in DA3 about him. Also it would really ****** me off if they canonize him as being male. My Hawke is and always will be female.

If they want every DA to be with new protagonist on a new location, dealing with new problems they shouldn't have give us the option of import in the first place, and the stories how "we are shaping the world of Thedas". I don't believe they will scrap import, but I do believe they will screw with either Hawke or the Warden regarding their saga.

Having said all this, I have great expectations and I believe that DA3 will be a great game but not without it's fair share of problems regarding how they take care of imports, story closures, retcons and canons.

I really started to hate those two words, retcons and canons. I hope that DA3 will give a closure to many things that will leave DA4 to start new (but not disconnected) story of Thedas.

I missed having the DAO/DAA epilogue slides in DA2. I would have liked to have seen how my decisions had an effect on the DA world. Varrick's line about the companions "all gone their seperate way" felt really cheap to me.

Maybe something like the death of Poochie in the Simpsons.

No. Meteor Swarm would be much more satisfying.

if bioware did something like this i think many of us would be happy, they could even still call the DLC exhalted march!
