You guys from Bioware are great at reating nice looking characters, like the defaults for Shepard and Hawke. But I hate to not being to customize them. It really annoys me that you create hairstyles and body paint that you cannot use with a face you create yourself. So please, make the default faces customizable, because even though I love them, I like seeing something that I chose in my characters, even if it's just a different hair collor or eye collor.

Just like the character creator not being in the beginning, this should just be common sense.

Also on an unrelated note, give some attribute and ability customization at character creation.

I know that for ME, Shepard had a unique facemorph. You couldn't alter it in the character creator because it wasn't made with the character creator.

If I'm not mistaken, this was only true for male Shepard, but I still wished I could change something of him, like his hairstyle or his eye collor, also it was either him or a fugly Shepard because there weren't any other decent presets in ME for maleshep.
But just like Hawke, femshep had a hairstyle only available to her, and only she had cute freckles. That was ridiculous, if the cool options are restricted to a default look, why give me options at all?

There was a technical reason, yes, but its still extremely annoying, and could've been dealt with if they'd been sufficiently inclined. It doesnt really matter how nice the default face might look to somebody, we all want the option to customize it to our liking. If you don't have that option, that's a huge loss. I know that for myself, I would only use the default female Hawke face after a mod came out and let me change it, not because I didn't like it but just because I like making my own unique, customized faces, I don't want to use any generic faces, however nice they might be. Its just super dumb to create a face in a way that isnt customizable, you can make them plenty good looking and customizable at the same time, even if some folks think they arent quite as pretty. So by all means, DA3 should return full customization for the default player faces.

That may not be possible, though. I think they scan the faces in. I know sheploo is.I would be content if they just import the hair/unique facial features into the cc so we could use them on our own characters.

I think if they could rework their character creation a bit it might work. Not 100% identical but very close. Example:

Warden is better than Hawke, but since you insist ....
I used to be a Champion of Kirkwall like you. Then I took a mage uprising to the knee....

I'd rather have the completelly generic default faces of DAO than a cool but completelly stablished one like DA2.

Bioware stats showed that the majority of players just played with default Sheploo John Shepard.
Even I did. To be honest, I like defining the character, but I'd rather play the better textured, higher detail official Bioware Shepard that appears on the concept art.

It's obvious Sheploo's more played than custom Shepard, all the other presets are fugly!

Not to mention that you have the tutorial with the deafult Hawke face. You play with the deafult hawke face for a while with a bit of combat, then dialogue and cutscenes, and after that it seems just plain weird if your character suddenly have an unexplained makeover, but keeps the same voice after that.

It should however be noted that this is also a problem in any second playthrough where you make a new character with different look when your PC is voiced. Since we are by then used to the voice of our old character, the same voice never really seem to "fit" with the new character. I'm not asking for several voice options, but you might want to consider a slider for changing the pitch or something, if possible (since I assume that a silent PC is still out of the question...?)

And on a side note, yes, the skin textures for most character were horrible, with only a few exceptions like the deafult Hawke, Varric, Fenris and the qunari leader.
