Hooray (Sarcasm) I found another reason that I don't like Liara.

"We Quarians have suffered so much at the synthetic hands of the Geth Shepard...."

Cry me a river. Shut up already, Tali. That was 300 years ago.

I'd agree with you if the effects weren't still being felt in the present day.

The thing is, Tali's incessant whining tends to be undercut by the fact that the Quarians both 1) created the Geth, and 2) were the agressors in the Morning War. The Quarians sort of earned their fate.

I agree. She had nothing to do with what happened though, which is why I can understand her whining.

Eh, personally I was of the opinion that if they think it was right and want to start the War again (as most Quarians objections to the War seemed to be that they didn't think they'd win/too many would die, not that it was unnessecary/wrong) , it's safest and fair to hold them accounatable for the first attempt still.

The appeal to Shepard that the current Quarians shouldn't be held accountable for something that happened 300 years ago rang a bit hollow when it was made during the time where they were trying to do the exact same thing. I just wanted an interrupt of 'No, Raan. I don't think you should be punished for somehing that happened 300 years ago. You should be punished for THIS.'

Realistcly Tali (and the less-Gereel/Xen like Quarians) 'whining' made complete sense for someone who'd been raised in that environment to think those things, but on a meta level it was annoying. I thought Legion was awesome and therefore anyone in the game who disagreed with me was automaticlly on my Suicidal-Role-in-The-SM List. Metagaming to purposely kill charachters just because they annoyed you FTW! (And I'm looking at everyone who sent Jacob through the vents here.)

...Seriously, why did all the female squadmates annoy me?! Jack and EDI are the only ones I can bring myself to take anywhere.

*Ahem* Back to Liara. Yeah, the ship has sailed on the whole 'she can't die' thing.

Damn right. B)

OP, I don't think that a character not dying is a sufficient justification for hating them.

yeah not like I already wrote other threads about this...

Not that I dislike Liara, but Samara's leaps and bounds better in my opinion. So's Kasumi.

And Jack, too... And Tali, of course. Even though I keep Virmiring Ash, she's a favorite. But Liara's there with Miranda and Kelly. And I do like them.

meh Liara is a character I have alot of mixed feelings about.

On some levels she is great - intelligent, loyal, stable, enough personal issues to be interesting, beautiful

On other levels she is annoying - mono-toned voice, massive character swings between games, self-righteous, inconsistent emotional reactions to trauma, terrible at being a shadow broker (traynor seems to find more)

If you like Liara, she is great. If you don't, she is very annoying and forced. Fortunately I am in the former 90% of the time.

For some reason people had to say she was force on you in the game to romance her. In ME1 you have that option to refuse her in the game it was simple as that , you don't need to talk to her, if you do talk to her then you you can acess the option of the conversation reject her advances.People seem to forget that in the game for some reason and whin about that Liara was the only romance option in the game no she wasn't for those who played ME1 knows this.

This is what Liara feels like to me in ME1 and ME3.

Image IPB

This weird, passive aggressive attempts to be Shepard's friend and/or lover.

Even if you completely avoid talking to her or using her in ME1, Liara still seems to fall in love with Shepard and Ashley/Kaidan will ask if you're trying to hook up with her. She'll have Shepards armor and dog tags in ME2 no matter what and if you don't invite her over to the Normandy, she still considers you someone worth her time in ME3. In ME3 she is the only one to come up to Shepard's room so very frequently in what I assume are attempts to talk personally. Miranda didn't do this when she had important information to pass on to Shepard, that's for sure. Can you shoot me an email Liara?

What makes this even more annoying is that she tells you to go talk to Barla Von to get a mission from her. You mean, all those times you keep popping up to Shepards room to talk, you can't tell Shepard right then and there about this mission? Shepard has to go to the Citadel and talk to Barla Von for your mission?

Shepard can not avoid her, Shepard can not tell her to go away, and if Shepard wanted to invite any of the other characters up to his/her room, they have to invite Liara first because the option to invite the others won't show up until she is taken care of.

I know this...I romanced Ash in ME1
We however are Discussing her in ME3...
(No really on the ME3 Forums..just omg..man Just never saw that coming)
She is Forced upon you in ME3 where she invades scenes much better suited for an LI that isn't that Blue Harpy.

Glad I'm not the only one. Bioware makes her seem "stalker-like" in this essence. It's rather annoying, she's like an elementary school girl who fawns over the popular boy in class or something. And what makes it worse is what you point out, you can't tell her to just go away or anything. It's like Bioware WANTS you to have her.

I also don't like how she manages to dump a bucket of tears on Shepard two games in a row. In ME2 DLC when she became the Shadow Broker. And now in ME3, after Thessia. After comforting her in her room for the second time, I was a bit annoyed, I thought, "Man, she did it to me again!".

You can book it, she'll cry on Shepard's shoulder for a third time in future ME content. I'm booking it for an EC reunion scene.

She's the only one aside from Miranda (if you dump her) that cries during the entire span of three games. This further reiterates the elementary school girl comparision.

I felt bad for Liara after Thessia, but I felt even worse after visiting Chakwas... I hadn't talked to her since completing her medical supplies side quest on the Citadel, and post-Thessia, she kicked her feet up and popped open a big bottle of brandy in the med-bay. Oops. I felt low, sitting across the hall from a forlorn Liara, laughing and tipping a couple with the doctor right after the Asari homeworld went down...

I think a few other characters also cry, but the thing that annoys me about Liara's breakdown mode is that the game expects you to sympathize and console her. I mean, it goes out of it's way to make certain you've comforted her. After Thessia, eveyone comments, "Are you gonna go check on Liara?"  It just kinda rubs me the wrong way.

Let's say I'm somewhere between 50 ... 75%.

I'm okay with Liara and don't hate her character. I'm just disappointed there's no third choice in the game how to deal with her. Neither do I want to romance her, nor do I want to be a complete d*ck. My Shepard simply wants a friendship -without- all the romantic context you currently have in ME3. ME1 / ME2 worked better in that case

Liara's so important because ........... Bioware wants her to be the canon romance. Buckle up, cuz it's pretty obvious who Shepard's gonna hook up with in the Mass Effect movie:?

You're assuming that anything that happens in the movie adaption (if there willl even be one) would automatically be considered canon. Movies adapted from video games don't have a good track record of being relevant to anything outside of what happens in the timeline of the movie.

In other words: Movie adaptions of videogames suck.

Before ME3, any romance was considered as "canon" - "headcanon".
Before ME2, Ashley, Kaidan and Liara had equal rights to be the "canon romance".

In short: I want L'Etoile back =)

Liara can die if you have low EMS and bring her to final battle. And she wasn't permanent squad mate in all 3 games like Garrus and Tali so I am fine with that. Only thing that pisses me off is the damn flashback.<_<

I'm not trolling with my comment, but c'mon it's obvious BioWare consider Liara their LI of choice.

@S.A.K: did other LIs get no flashback at the end? Did you also get Liara? That'd be a bummer.

Well I think there are flashbacks for Ashley and Kaidan but I didn't romance them. If you romance anyone else, you get liara flashback.:(
