Liara's first redeeming quality for me was LotSB. After that, I put her at the bottom of my friends list instead of outside in the rain.
Funny. LotSB was great to play, but for me it was a twist in Liara's character. She redeemed herself in ME3 in my eyes.
She follows Garrus, Tali, Samara, Mordin, Legion, Wrex, EDI, Joker, Thane, Jacob, Jack, Grunt, Kasumi, Zaeed, Miranda, and everybody else from ME2 (except Kelly).
Tbh, Tali never redeems herself if you can not make peace between Quarians and Geth. Kasumi and Zaeed had too little screen time to redeem themselves in ME3. Jacob ... well, if you romanced him, you might see it differently. And so on ...
She leaves the company of Ashley and Kaidan. Their unfortunate behavior on Horizon and Mars has not been forgiven.
'though hard to swallow, even for fans of Ash & Kaidan, both redeemed themselves when taking down Udina. I never did it by myself.
Too bad the "special bond" mentioned at the beginning of the game (if you create a new Shepard) never played a role. Actually, I believe (and hoped) the VS had a similar role like Liara: mainstay and emotional support. And the original script gave several hints it was planned first - but got scrapped later. So in second half of the game, the VS has no longer any impact - except you romanced him or her. Then you get a sexy scene at least
