Dragon Age: Origins was pretty much one of my all time favorite games. Sacred Ashes Trailer was also pretty much one of my all time favorite trailers. I was dissapointed that DA2 didn't get as much of a distinctive trailer as the first game did. Do you guys think Bioware should put in the time and resources into something similar for hypethetical DA3? Or would it be just be something else on the side that the team should have skipped, in order to concentrate on other areas?

I think you mean Sacred Ashes. From Ashes is the DLC for ME3.
DA2 had the Destiny trailer, which was nice. Too bad about the actual fight.

Yes, I especially liked the part where you recruited Javik and stopped Cerberus

Yeah I liked the Sacred Ashes trailer a lot more than the destiny trailer, because we got to see some of the companions. Sten looked amazing! Wish he looked like that in-game.
I also liked that the companions spoke to each other and the Warden was given a voice for it (even though I liked that they were silent in the game).

Please don't. CGI trailers are an extremely wasteful use of time and money.

CGI trailers are usually pretty cheesy, especially in an age of video games where graphics are good enough that they "should" advertise themselves. Let's not go back to the 80s and 90s where video game box art was an elaborate lie of what you actually got in the box.
It's funny though, the Sacred Ashes trailer was more geared towards the combat of DA 2 than it was DA:O with all the goofy-fifty-foot-ninja backfliping and button mashing/lack of strategic combat. If DA 3 is anything like DA 2, then the Sacred Ashes trailer cheese would fit perfectly to me.

I don't find CGI trailers cheesy.
Live action trailers make me cringe so much though. Please no live action trailers!

That's the only thing worse than a CGI trailer, a live action one. And I really don't mind most CGI trailers as long as they match what they are supposed to be representing. What I hated about the Sacred Ashes trailer mostly was the fact that none of the NPC party members looked like the game characters. Disregarding personal preferences for the aesthetics of game or trailer characters, it's just really, really bad marketing to make such differences betweeen an advertised product and the actual purchase.
Btw, I prefered then in game character appearances to the trailer ones, but that's irrelevant. They should look the same and hopefully act the same to establish maxium impact to the target audience and give a fair representation of what you are selling.

I do like a good CG trailer. I must've watched the SWTOR trailers more than a dozen times each before it released.

The CGI trailers for Mass Effect 2 where Shep, Jack, Miri, Thane, Grunt and Mordin talked about fighting for the loss were pretty great too, and unlike the Sacred Ashes trailer the characters actually looked like the characters in the game, except for Jack who looked even better.
I really like CGI trailers, we can all be sure that there will be at least one for DA3, I hope it's cool and doesn't false advertise the game.
