OP, I understand your frustration, I do. Getting kicked sucks.
I never kick unless it's REALLY called for as follows:
1) Complete noob in Gold, like N7 1, Human Soldier level 1. And before I kick I explain over mic that they need to set the random match screen to Bronze and give that a few tries first because Gold is very hard.
2) Won't. Freaking. READY. Had to kick someone out of 2 consecutive lobbies last night: first lobby the leader just wouldn't ready for minutes on end. No activity, not changing classes or weapons, just totally AFK. So we kicked them after a long time of this, new lobby, someone new joined as the 4th and WOULD NOT READY. What the heck? How to you join and then do nothing? Again, wasn't changing loadout or anything, just total non-activity for 4, 5 minutes. Kicked.
But back to you, OP - I doubt you're getting kicked for not readying and I doubt you're totally new, so this is some Gold elitism. Sometimes I understand it. It's frustrating to go game after game with poor teammates and some people react by getting elite.
What's your character/loadout? That can often be the main issue.
Also, PC/Xbox/PS3?
I have had this happen on the PS3 where the game seems to hang on the loading screen as it tries to join a lobby. I can hear everyone talking, and I can hear the lock-and-load sounds of myself joining the lobby, but it never leaves the loading screen so I can confirm.
It's pretty rare - So when it happens I usually keep waiting and waiting and waiting hoping it'll finally go ahead and load, but sometimes it just never does.
Maybe that's what happened with those apparent AFKs?

Your attitude already made me wishing to kick you, pal. Fortunately (for you), there is no kick button in here forums!Try to say what i quoted in-game in voice chat, and see for yourself: i bet most people will just push "kick" on ya.
My advice: improve yourself. If/when you are good enough, - know the game, have them weaps, and is not doing any too strange/wrong setups, - nobody would ever kick ya. Especially if you'd use some requipment, you know.
Good luck!
if you read all the posts you will realise i obv mean within limits. what i am refering to is when people generaly consider builds to be wrong but if some1 can work with unconvential builds then yay. dont snipe at my attitude when you are taking one small part of my post out of context. your weapon example is kick worthy, but i would SPEAK to you before kicking. you may not realise you still have your arc pistol on. and a forum is a place for discussion. not places for kick buttons so one opinion can dominate. then you would not have forums to put your silly responses in. good day.

It seems quite fitting that your analogy is based around employment, as that's essentially how you make the game sound. "Wasting" 10 minutes wiping is of no cost to you whatsoever other than a loss of ingame credits.
It's irrelevant whether you know if the lower levelled person is good or not, as simply by kicking them you are showing that you do not want a challenge. If you don't want a challenge and don't want to test yourself then why are you even playing the game? Just to amass credits?
1) How so? I dont like losing. I dont like wiping. I like to win. Maybe I only have 30 minutes a day after work to enjoy myself. Having to carry a scrub and/or wiping is not enjoyable. Maybe YOU find enjoyment in losing, sure. Maybe YOU like to struggle for 50 minutes and still utterly fail. Good for you, others wont, why should you expect the host of the game to like losing?
2) So you acknowledge that you, by being bad, or bringing a 'bad' loadout into a game, makes the game more challenging for everyone. Again, do you think about the other 3 players when you do this? The analogy to this argument is like stating "Barcelona should just run with 8 players instead of 11, because they really should enjoy the challenge of playing handicapped instead of using their cookie cutter setup and winning all the time."
If you have fun creating artificial challenges for yourself, sure, be my guest. Go host a solo game and run with a level 1 vanguard using just a predator. I'd never stop you from doing that even if I could.
1) Losing? Who said anything about losing? I like to win, I like to push myself to win and have faith in my ability to do so. I just quite simply don't feel the need to surround myself with only higher levelled players with all the top equipment in order to be successful. Maybe if you're just not that good then I could understand needing a team full of 'pros' with you in order for you to succeed. If that's the case, then just don't ever state you don't want to carry people. Just be honest that you can't.
2) I'm bad now? Why is that? Because i'm only N7 level 150? I top almost all of the rooms I play, only really play pugs and it's not often that I do not make it to extraction. In the times I don't it's because my team hasn't been very good and I wasn't up to the challenge of carrying them through it.
I acknowledge that bad players make the game harder, but considering it's so easy (and thus not fun) in a room full of "pros" I don't see that as a bad thing.
But if you wan't to go down the thinking about other players road... do you think about other players when you so quickly kick them from your lobbies just because they don't match up to your 'standards'? You say you may only have 30 minutes and don't want to wipe out because it's not fun, but what about the fun for the person repeatedly being kicked from lobbies by snobby people like yourself? What of his/her fun, or is it just you that matters?
Your analogy is flawed by way, Barcelona have a reason to always select their best team (although, strangely enough most football clubs rotate players anyway) because being successful as a football team equals monetary gain in the real world. There is no gain from a video game, it's just about enjoyment. If you only get enjoyment from playing alongside high levels to the extent where it's harder to lose than it is to win then fair enough, I guess.
Awful post.
Your reasoning is self congratulatory and full of flaws.
It might be fun for you to "challenge" yourself to carry people with obviously inefficient layouts for 40 minute Good runs, but there are those of us who enjoy the game a different way. Some of us like to build efficient teams and clear Gold in 20 minutes, something that's likely not to happen with an Adept running with two heavy weapons.
It doesn't make you a better player because you enjoy carrying inefficient loadouts. I'm pretty sure Terra could carry a Gold pub if he wanted to.
We have every right to kick a player, especially if we're hosting. I enjoy playing with others who know how to play. I will run with any class if that class is set up well. Efficient clears with a rhythmical game > carrying someone who doesn't understand how to play.
And sometimes our time is too short to accomodate teaching these people. Sometimes we simply want a quick, enjoyable game and we're forced to pug as our friends aren't available. Nothing wrong with that in the slightest.
Stop suggesting that our way of enjoying the game is somehow less honorable or correct than your own.
If I have a friend online who I know I can duo with, i'll be less inclined to kick. In fact, I mostly allow whatever when I host in this situation.
Ps. If I want a real challenge I'll attempt to solo Gold. I don't need meatshields to do that, nor the frustration of inexperienced players.

Alright, now you are talking abit more sense. But you are assuming that people should treat you altruistically, and bother to talk to you in the offchance that you might respond and change your loadout. The number of people with mics is few are far in between, those that use them in any decent/intelligible way, even rarer. Yes, it would be NICE of me to spend some time talking to said player before putting an X beside the name, but the X communicates what I want to say faster and more efficiently.
I have put X many times and people simply switch classes (because perhaps they didnt realise they were still on that silver-run-do-random-crap class), and i immediately drop the X and ready up. Again, you are expecting players who dont know anything about you to automatically give you the benefit of the doubt and spend time talking/checking to see if you REALLY know what you are doing.
And talk is cheap, I can ask that Lvl 18 Asari vanguard with a BW and they can simply respond "Im good", how will I know if he/she will be a liability for the next 5 minutes? Easy solution = kick and find someone suitable.

I understand the rhytm, but people should be able to adapt - did not hear the explosion? or heard it while not using powers? maybe something is going on.Fins_T wrote...
Take it easy though. Quite often, in the heat of battle, these "brainless" people are simply not sure which target was detonated - and throw is very short cooldown and deals some damage, as well as stagger things (even some big things, like brutes). Other times, there are 3 or 4 biotic users, and "brainless" people just can't be sure if there is a warp on the target already-again, or not - so they throw just in case. And tech bursts you mentioned - could be a reason too. And last but not least, there is a rhytm some good adepts/sentinels developed; like, warp-shoot-shoot-throw-shoot, rinse repeat. They are just much used to it, you know. Can't blame them, the loss in killing speed - if any, - is not big anyways.
I was pointing out that many people dont understand the explosion mechanism and just spam Warp and Throw - and then complain about tech users ruining their explosions.
Maybe "brainlessly" is bit too harsh word in English.

i personally wish bioware would remove the kick option, everyone has paid for this game and is entitled to play as they want to, too many people abuse the kick option, not only that but people make it hard for newbs to play or have any fun just because they dissaprove of their loadout or class, seriously its a game everyone should play how they want, i never kick unless someone is in game and not moving leaving me to believe they are afk, everything else i dont care about, its only a game i like to have fun and work as a team
A level 18 sentinal with avenger I isnt really gonna cut it on gold. So yeah, I would kick him. Not because of his N7 but simply because i dont want/need the revive 75+ gold medal from a player who will be mostly dead and do 10k damage in total.

rant over.
This is stupid. Then you get a lobby of 3 people under N7 50 (and not people who just got a few classes to 20 and stopped) and you can't kick any of them.
If you're getting kicked so much, could it genuinely be a problem with you and not your presumably low N7? Are your weapons garbage, low level, or low level and garbage?
Also, in regards to the highlighted part, it sounds, to me, like you know you're **** and just want to be carried. In which case, get the **** out of the higher difficulties.

If you're kicking someone b/c they play an Asari BW Vanguard you have no clue whatsoever about how this game works. Besides, you never know how good some random dude is without having seen him/her play anyway.
