..does it? Because apparently the position of the meteors (or descending fireballs) are random within the 10m sphere, meaning that its possible for a meteor not to hit an enemy; wouldnt upgrading the radius to 15m reduce the chance for an enemy to get hit?
Firestorm upgrade has a downside to it

Not really. If you are using it against a large group of enemies it means they have a farther way to run before getting out of range, and firestorm can do an absurd amount of damage and kills basic enemies in time. It still hits just as often.

Yea, the danger zone is bigger
But if im using it against stationary enemies then the probability that each meteor will hit is lesser eh.

Just remember Kenny Loggins' advice regarding Firestorm:
Out along the edges
Always where they burn to be
The further on the edge
The hotter the intensity
Highway to the Firestorm
Gonna take the mobs right into the Danger Zone

That's one of my complaints with the upgrade system. Upgrading a spell means that you lose access to the unupgraded version.
A smaller Fireball is a valuable tool when you're worried about friendly fire. Being stuck with a bigger one isn't good.

Friendly fire eh? Well given my abysmal strategic skills i'll probably never play on nightmare so its goodbye to friendly fire
I would have liked an upgrade to increase the rate of bombing that firestorm does though.

I never play on Nightmare, either, but I always enable friendly fire if I can.Alistair doll wrote...

I would hope future games wouldn't limit friendly fire just to nightmare, and even if they do I tend to use mods to fix that.
I played DA2 on both Hard and Normal with friendly fire enabled. Not that that really worked. DA2's asymmetrical combat mechanics break friendly fire quite badly.
