She drove her car into a Reaper.

Ha! No. Really? I wasn't aware of that part.

Yep.

I believe it was heavily damaged, she was injured and bleeding a lot. So, she decided to go out with a bang.

Oh, and if you ask me, it would have been awesome to see that in game.

That's the kind of impact that Mass Effect 3 is missing.

A forum avatar provided to me by Bioware means I'm a Quarian.

And a woman who has many pictures online of herself in no clothing, going to the bathroom, giving lapdances to fellow employees, having her breasts groped, and licking many inanimate objects and looking fairly stoned means nothing at all.

I see.

I don't think google image shows nudity unless you specify it.  I googled Jessica Chobot and I got no nude pics.

Theres 1 pic of her giving a lapdance to 1 employee.

I can't find the breast groping thing.

Licking inanimate object.....Jack Black acted like he was having sex with an xbox and a PS3, BUT HES HILARIOUS!!!

The stoned comment is just ridiculous.

As for the peeing thing......it's gross but i don't find her life or this subject in general a serious enough matter to get bent out of shape about it.

Agreed. That has been the burning question for me. Why take a known character and play the storyline out through social media instead of within the game, and then plonk this unknown reporter on your ship? And hence, the crux of this thread, which is why the hell is Jessica Chobot in ME3? I would have preferred the game to be.. in the game. Especially since I avoid Twitter whenever possible. If they insisted, why not place Chobot in the Twitter thread and Wong in the game?

I was never attached to Wong, but you'd think you would even get an email.

But. But that's.... logical! An in-game email... at least! I had no idea until perusing these forums.

Maybe its just me, but her body is so strange looking. I only picked her up for the war effort and I cringe whenever I see her aboard the ship. Her model is so disgusting.

I agree.  I don't get how they translated her body in real life to the thing they have in game.

I mean, is there a reason they decided to take the time to model her face in the game? Between her crappy voice acting and the fact she works for IGN did they think fans would like her replacing Emily Wong?

I just can't think of any reason why Bioware thought it would be a good idea. They could have used that development time to make a decent ending or model Tali's face in-game instead.

My personal conspiracy theory is that Chobot's character was originally meant to be a sponsored dlc but when IGN saw how bad the dlc was, they canned it.  Bioware then decided to use it as filler in the final game.  At least people would be willing to pay for Javik.

My problem with Chobot isn't that she uses her sexuality to advance her career, the problem is that there isn't really much more to her. She got hired at IGN originally to write a dating/advice column...and then started taking on any "news" that they needed to put a pretty face on.

I have no real issues with Team Unicorn, for example. They've been known to use their sexuality overtly to gain attention, but there's more to them than that.

I suppose it's like you mentioned...Girl gamers as opposed to Gamer Girls.

See, I just don't get how someone can say this.

How do you know theres nothing more to her.  They might have given her more responsibilities/work b/c she can do it.

Unless she is completely ****ing up I don't see how you can say that.

Say again? This universe just keeps getting weirder. IGN has/was going to have a dating/advice column? Oh. That's rich. Not exactly the place I would run to for relationship assistance?

IGN used to run a Babes channel, which was located somewhere between Movies, Tech, and TV in their bar. Chobot ran the advice column that was there.

Dude, I'm not saying that there's necessarily not more to her as a person, but as a public figure, it's all there is. Maybe she's the Andy Kaufman of the IGN offices...a deep, poetic soul who's been tragically typecast into a role that didn't even appeal to her to begin with. I can see it now, she'll run an off-broadway production of Hamlet...only for the crowd to yell at her "Put something skimpy on and act like a buffoon!"

She's there to take an oral exclusive from my Shep.  As well as getting rare 'behind the scenes' action involving tough angles.  After an hour of 'tough, pounding' questions, Shep unloads with a plethora of 'in-her-face' answers that she'd been waiting for.  The situation is a bit sticky, and not at all ideal for her, but hey, she takes it for the team to get that scoop.  Even if it means she had to lay back, and open up herself to some hard-to-swallow but candid details from the galactic jackhammer that is Shep, she eagerly took it in like a champ.

Top-notch reporter, that Diana Allers...top-notch indeed...

I wouldn’t have minded Jesica Chobot as Diana Allers in the game IF Allers actually did anything other than take up space on the Normandy and replace a reporter that we already have had some interaction with in previous games like Emily Wong or better still Khalisah al-Jilani.

Personally I hated the fact that EA/BioWare wasted the time to even go this way with casting a new voice actor for a new character that did ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING in the game. Ok, Chobot as a voice actor, did I just say that? That’s laughable on its own since she isn’t even an actor.

Granted if those responsible for her dialog, story and character gave a flying f*** about her role in the game maybe we wouldn’t have cared who the person was who did the voice.

Story wise she did nothing for at all. Romance wise again nothing worth the time on. She didn’t even move around the ship or at the Citadel to do her job to get a story which kind of defeats the purpose of her being a REPORTER.

Did it help that how she looks and dressed is nothing but a weak attempt at sex appeal to get that almighty teenage to mid twenty something male age group to buy the game since they are the only ones who probably even know who she was.

She’s Snookie in space. I just wish I could send her out of the airlock into space.

Fatal....come on, I don't know you but I'm starting to think you're just jealous.
I find that ignorantly wild accusation to be very offensive.

I don't know how anyone can ever be jealous of someone with so much dignity and self respect.

That's sarcasm at the end, by the way.
So theres some pictures of her in a swimsuit...and one picture doing a booty dance.  I googled her name and 95% of what came up was nothing but your average pictures at events or on the job or something.

You're disecting gamers that are girls.

More than likely she was never a heavy gamer but was in he journalist field.  Lots of guy that work at these sites are the same way.  They liked games....went into journalism but don't have the passion they used to have.

Not everyone stays young at heart or whatever you want to call it.  If it was a dude with a hot body and was really cute or whatever...I'm sure you wouldn't mind too much.
Jessica Chobot was completely unknown until a picture of her licking PSP popped up on the internet.

Sony used it for advertising and later she was hired by IGN, who has a fetish for taking pictures of her in swimsuits, tight clothes, underwear and while going to the bathroom and while giving lap dances to other IGN employees.

And she's kind of a rude person, calling Mass Effect fans whiners and babies.

I have no respect for her and she's a terrible voice actor.

Flaunting her sexuality is literally what launched her career, you can search that on google.
So all we know is that she took a provocative picture.....then got hired for a job.

Could it be that it was that no one knew her before.  Lots of ppl become known for all sorts of reasons.  Vanessa Williams is  movie star (HA!) b/c she was miss america or whatever.

You have to start somewhere.
It doesn't mean they deserve respect. The place a lot of people start from is often the first years after graduating theatre college and spending the next half-decade working crummy commercial jobs that you're not guarenteed to get in the first place. You'll have a part-time job to pay rent because the lack of offers won't help and when you finally do get a breakthrough it's almost always likely to be a one-shot chance.

Now some people make their way to fame through sheer talent - Patrick Stewart started out small and gained attention in theatre until the RSC hired him. Now he's an OBE and one of the finest actors I know. He didn't get there by grinding his employees legs and having a tight ass*.

I went to see Lee Evans live once and I remarked how humble the man was. At the end, when he'd finished he went to the back of the stage to fetch the mic stand, as he turned around he saw a standing ovation of 10,000+ and almost cried. He too comes from a struggling past.

Those kind of people have my undying respect. People like Chobot are the reason why some of these talented nobodies never get a chance.
Like I said: it looks to me like shes just taking the ride.  I've never seen her doing her job so I can't say she deserves it.  But I hold the right to disagree against those who really don't know about her affairs and I think are overracting.
LOL, her affairs.

I just Googled her like Fatal recommended and a lot of her photos are either a) semi-nude/lingerie, B) her licking objects erotically, or c) posing seductively.

She's a terrible voice actor and I can't say I like her journalism. Nor does she appear to be a nice person in her interviews.

I'm not overreacting when many people have far more talent than her and deserve her job more than she does.
Ugh....actually you were one of the ones that I thought was aruging against me quite calmly.  I didn't mean you were overracting.

As for what you said....thats exacltly my point.  All you most ppl know is google images.  Her affairs are not those pictures.  That is not a persons life.
Pictures aren't indicative of someone's life?
Well, then I guess I'll go by your avatar and say your an alien that uses some sort of mask to breath.
Yo dawg, so I heard you like quotes...

I've never been on the Chobot hate bandwagon (I'm not really aware of her and don't have strong feelings regarding her either way), but the OP raises a legitimate question. Why the hell is she there? Even if something isn't going on between IGN and EA/Bioware, it still looks suspect.

I think people are being a bit unfair to her, she is taking alot of flak because on one hand Bioware say they have artistic integrity, and with the other stick Jessica Chobot in a game which is an obvious marketing gimmick, so she is catching all the hate for this and it really is biowares fault.
