Don't see how her minuscule role could really have affected how you feel about the game, hell you can choose not to have her all together

Umm...principle? She wasn't an actor being brought in to act. She was a "news personality" (though gaming doesn't really have reputable news sources) that was brought in for the explicit purpose of giving nerds a hard-on. IGN, in turn, took their defense of ME3 far beyond the reasonable as they now have a vested interest in keeping the game afloat. Some people who never heard of Chobot before this, like myself, might search out who she is and stumble across IGN in the process, giving them a few more dollars in advertizing page views.

It's like if Mit Romney announced he would be giving Megan Kelly a cabinent position just so some people might vote for him because she's attractive and to attain FoxNews' steadfast support regardless of what he does.

I had no idea she was a real person either.  I still stick by my TnA answer though....wait you said that  giving nerds a hard-onImage IPB

So that's why IGN said ME3 was a "satsfying ending" to the franchise...

Yes, it's how it works in modern gaming world. It's not a bribes or anything like that, this I can 100% assure you of.
They just friends, who mutually avoid upsetting each other. Some are better friends than others.

Still, disgruntled publishers do pull their ads if they get unfavourable reviews.

Yes, because it's unfair and not friendly action to do unfavourable review.

What's wrong with Allers a cheap and easy fix can't change?

All she needs are Elcor subtitles to convey the emotion we're supposed to be hearing, and change her in game race from female human to female Elcor (they don't even have to change the character model) problem solved.

Poor Chobot is never going to live this down. To be fair to her, I would be thrilled to be a voice/character in ME3 too if I was asked to be.

It's the people who picked her and her bland voice acting, and spent the time and resources modeling her and putting her in the game, that are really at fault.

I really see zero reason for her to exist in the game. She fills a reporter role that TWO popular characters could've filled instead.

It's like throwing Kim Kardashian in a game and replacing Captain Bailey with her. If it was for "nerdbait", I didn't bite.

It's nobody's fault. Bioware can cast whoever they deem fit. It is extremely common for movie directors give casting prority to their close friends in favour of more deserving candidates.

It's a corporate pay off so IGN doesn't give BioWare negative reviews. That is the only reason for it. To me is the only thing that makes sense from a marketing stand point. The more people like them you have in your pocket the harder it is for them to give you a negative review, therefore boosting your opening week sales to a max...but long term sales will fall when people find out they were lied too.

You know what, the combination of her voice acting and the unusual way her eyes move gave me the impression Allers is drunk. Not to mention the way she suddenly hits on you aggressively. I know it's not intended, but she comes off with behavior i only seen in drunk women at the bar/club.

Yes I created drunk theory or DT for Allers.:blink:=]

You don't see the development resources spent on her that could've been used on something more useful?

Not really.  The amount of resources spent to construct Diana Allers would have been a drip in the bucket of resources needed for other things.  Character design is a fairly specialized area... it's not like those people could have been reassigned to say... a final boss fight or to ending cinematics or programming.

I suppose it could be argued that those people could have been assigned to rendering Tali's face in game... but even then, I'm not certain that would be an entirely accurate criticism either.

The people who made Chobot's model could have worked on designing, modeling and texturing Tali's face. A lot of people wanted to see Tali, so if they had done that, those fans would have been happy instead of being angered by the crappy Photoshop job they got. So even if spending labor on Tali's face instead of Chobot would not have meant a lot in the context of the resources spent on the game it would have been much better received by the fans.

Nerdbait was my impression. Except her character model is the only eyesore in the game.

BioWare needed to ingratiate themselves with IGN. So they killed off Emily Wong on Twitter and replaced her with Allers.

Pretty disappointing, to say the least.

So they don't have to model Tali's face.
