Chobot doesn't wreck the game nor does she add to it, other than to fuel eulogies to the old principle of conflict of interest.
It could have been worse. Anyone who plays EA sports titles knows how willing they are to jam in real life advertising in the middle of games. At least ME3 didn't have product placement everywhere.

"This war asset brought to you by...x...." It's only a matter of time.

Well, I see Chobot as product placement.  So, there you go.

This is the core fanbase. A lot of people here just hate IGN from the get go even before Chobot was in this game.

I think sometimes hanging around forums can warp people a bit.

Well then leave the dark pits of this foul place and check the rest of the internet for Allers-fans, somehow I just guess you won't find that many of them, no matter where you look...

Douchery, then.

Just like the grand artiste Casey de Hudson himself, I won't allow mere peasants to blight the ingenious visions of my artistic grandness!
But don't despair, although you are nothing more than a grain of dust, clouded by my unsurpassable greatness, I will still listen to your humble feedback.

Fair point. Guess I'm saying it could've been much worse. Especially in ME2 with the advertising thingees.

To be honest, at first I didn't give a **** if she's in the game or not, I had no idea who she was. Later however, I think she is kind of distracting since she's actually a quasi-famous IGN reporter. It detracts from the immersion. Emily Wong would have been a much better choice.

If the game and especially the ending would have been any good, no-one would care about Chobot, she's such a non-character. But since the fans are in rage-mode (myself included) every little negative is a valid target.

But you don't find Martin Sheen walking around as a guy who looks like Martin Sheen a distraction from immersion?

This is the bit that confuses me.

Don't be confused. Sheen is a very, very good actor. I have no problems with them using him. If you want to go down that route you might as well start complaining about EDI (BSG) or anyone you would recognize from other productions.

Chobot however is not an actress, she's a reporter from a site that reviews ME3. The combo of blatant T&A + IGN connection just doesn't sit well with me. Like I said a very minor issue, but still a negative one.

Maybe it's because I don't go on IGN but I never understood why she is SO hated.

yeah her voice acting sucks but she's such a minor character who if you like you can refuse to let onto your ship. People act like it's the 2nd worst thing in the game.

It's a conflict of interest issue.  If Chobot were in radio or TV journalism what she did would be illegal.  It shows poor ethics on the part of Bioware and IGN.

They wanted to show us a female Batarian.
She's missing the extra pair of eyes though, which is weird.
Maybe she's an evolved form of the Mabari? We already got an Ogre statue in Kasumi's DLC, so...

Futue, I didn't even think about that. Well, I didn't know who the hell she was before coming on here but that hadn't even occured to me. Poor ethics indeed. Par for the course, it appears.

Her model matched her character/voice-acting. Ugly and bland.

What makes me really mad is that they spent the time to model her (if even just poorly), but took about six minutes in Photoshop for Tali's face.

Chobot was a mistake. I'm glad I told her to f**k off when I first met her.

Pachter's an A-grade idiot who thinks he knows alot about the gaming industry but has been consistently proven to always side with big business.

When the furore over Ubisofts retarded DRM broke, someone asked if it would hurt Assassins Creed 2 sales. Pachter responded by NOT answering the question and instead cheerleading by saying that developers/publishers can do whatever they way to protect their game from pirates. In other words if someone sold a game with a combination lock that you had to undo everytime you wanted to play and it does nothing to stop actual pirates but hugely inconveniences legit customers, Pachter is fine with that.

Then when it was revealed that Australian studio, Team Bondi had overworked their staff for 18 months to make the release date for LA Noire and never paid them overtime, Pachter responded from a management point again and dismissed the complaints. YOu can see his bone-headed quotes here http://www.develop-o...ympathy-Pachter

Seriously, whenever it's gamers vs publishers/developers, he will always side against the gamers cause he's not a true gamer, just a punk in a suit who keeps making wrong predictions about the gaming industry.
You can read Sean Malstrom's blog where he repeatedly makes a fool of this Pachter suit.

Funny thing; on my first two playthroughs, I didn't even know who Diana Allers was. I apparently walked by her about a million times on the Citadel and never even gave her the time of day.

That's how big of a deal this is. You can literally play the game and never even know Jessica Chobot had a role in it.

That said, there's plenty of reason to NOT like her inclusion.  It DOES smack of a conflict of interest, and many critics are correct that if this were a TV or radio show, what EA/Bioware and Chobot had done would be illegal.

I couldn't care less either way, Chobot or not (hehe that rhymes). There are much bigger issues at hand, like where in the world was Harbinger, a far more important character? Where way my boss fight? Where were all my war assets in the final battle? Show me some more consequence with the Rachni and Collector Base decisions! Where were all of my consequences that were supposed to be reflected in the ending? If they can address all of that, then I might just like this game again and will remain loyal to Bioware. If not, it's back to TW2...

Oh, and some other things, I want at least one more explorable town.  When we retake Omega, make it a town that we can explore.  Let us explore Ilium again too!  And make up for the lack of sidequests with lots of DLC.  Give me some vehicle and FULL ON PLANETARY EXPLORATION MISSIONS LIKE THE ONES IN MASS EFFECT 1.  Do that all of the above Bioware, and you might just gain my respect back.

An IGN reporter got a full face model. Tali got a ****ty photoshop.

An IGN reporter got a decent sized role as the Normandy's inbuilt reporter. Emily Wong got killed off Via twitter.

The conversation where you deny her access to the ship is the only one I skip through.

Because she is a very experienced and believable actor.

Just kidding. But her inclusion in the game allows for a nice counter-attack at all the elitist ending defenders playing the "artistic integrity" card
