I've been playing as Adept in my first playthrough on Insanity. I find the class extremely hard, that's the reason i chose it, for a challenge ;)

I need some tips and strategies on the best way to utilize the class to it fullest of potentional.

NOTE: No spoiler please.

Put most of your points in Warp. Put a few in Singularity (you won't need to max it out, you're just going to detonate it anyway). Have someone with Overload in your party at all times. Strip shields; cast singularity; wait for cool down; hit them with Warp as they're flying around. Enjoy the ensuing explosion. Repeat ad nauseum.

Carry only the Carnifex Hand Cannon with the armor penetration mod. It'll strip armor pretty quickly and is just too much fun to pass up.

Actually when you do detonation combos the damage done is based on the rank of both of the powers used so for max damage you want them both maxed out. It's explained in this thread http://social.biowar...7/index/9822648

This is the first time i've tried insanity in ME , i also chose the adept . Basically i'm concentrating mainly on warp/throw , i take Liara with me for her singularity and i chose stasis as my bonus power . I've just reached Tuchanka in the main quest and so far finding it very manageable . Grissom Academy has given me the most problems so far but i think that was more to do with my squad choice (swapped Liara for Edi)

Adept is my favourite class. The key is to form biotic combos.

Make sure your cooldown bonus isn't less than 50%. Don't ever incur a cooldown penality.
Carry no more than two weapons, but aim for one light weapon.

If you want a versatile weapon Raptor (it's very heavy but if you're carrying one weapon, it's okway), Mattock (much lighter and is a good combination of sniper and assault rifle) and Phalanx (a top choice for both singleplayer and online).

Don't carry too many weapons!

I strongly recommend bringing Liara T'Soni and Javik with you.
If you're looking for a biotic who can overload shields, bring Kaidan Alenko

Just to simplify things, all you need is warp->throw combos. You can switch things up to break the monotony if you really want, but that combo works on literally everything in the game--shields, barriers, armor, you name it. (Note that even if it's marked out on the power wheel, cast warp anyway, since it will still set up combos, even on shielded enemies.) The only downside is that enemies will occasionally dodge your powers, but using double throw helps to mitigate that somewhat. (You can also use squadmates to set up the combos and use your throw to detonate - Liara, Javik and Kaidan are good for this).

Also, don't bother with singularity, just take stasis as your bonus power and use the bubble evolution at rank 6. It serves the same function except it takes effect instantly and never misses, unlike singularity. (Liara's singularity is quite useful, however, since her cooldown is insane and it doesn't use a projectile like yours.)

Also, I should add that you will always do more damage on insanity with biotic combos than with weapons (at least as an adept). Combo damage scales with difficulty, doing the same % of damage as on lower difficulties. This isn't the case with weapons, so combos should be your main offensive weapon, both from a crowd control standpoint, but (crucially) also from a damage standpoint. For example, you'll take down a Brute much faster by using warp/throw combos than by carrying a big gun and shooting him.

For that reason, your weight bonus probably matters more than what weapon you are carrying, since spending any significant amount of time shooting is usually counterproductive.

Pull/Throw is more efficient for non-protected enemies than Warp/Throw.

I tend to skip singularity entirely. Liara's version is better, anyway. And I don't bother with Shockwave, just because it's not very good.

Definitely. I'm just trying to emphasize how simple this class is, and how little you need to stress about builds (assuming you don't want to fool around with some specific "non-standard" build). There are situations where another combo is better, but warp/throw ALWAYS works.

So lets get this straight :
Don't get singularity, maximize Liara's Stasis into bubble. Get Warp and Throw at maximum.

I might be an idiot but warp explosion don't seem to be working whereas Double Throw Combos are working quite well ;)

Any reason? Also, The detonation are occuring instantaneously and missing alot, any tips?

EDIT: Wait, so pull and warp is better? Not getting singularity for my character is also better?

Do you think maximising in Biotic mastery is a good idea?

Dark cannel seems like should i use that?

I'll take these one at a time.

For yourself, you can get singularity and use it, but bubble stasis (EDIT: as a bonus power for Shepard) serves the same function and is more effective (IMO). With Liara, singularity is a perfectly good option, since (unlike you) she doesn't miss and it appears instantaneously. Her stasis is good too, but not any different than yours.

Get Warp and Throw at maximum.

Damage from biotic combos is dependent on what rank the two powers are, so whatever combo you will use the most, that's what I would max out first. I see warp/throw as the "all purpose" combo, so that's what I always put points into right off the bat.

I might be an idiot but warp explosion don't seem to be working whereas Double Throw Combos are working quite well ;)

For every combo, you have a power that sets it up and a power that detonates it. Warp can be a set-up power or a detonator, depending on what the other power is. (see the list of combos posted above) When Shepard casts warp or throw (or pretty much any other biotic power except stasis), it's a projectile and enemies can sometimes dodge it. If that happens, you won't get an explosion, but as long as both powers hit, you'll get a big boom.

EDIT: Wait, so pull and warp is better? Not getting singularity for my character is also better?

Pull has a faster cooldown than warp, but it only sets up combos on unprotected enemies (those without sheilds, barriers, or armor). For that reason, using pull -> throw is a slightly faster combo than warp->throw, but as I said, it only works vs. unprotected enemies, whereas warp->throw works against everything.

Do you think maximising in Biotic mastery is a good idea?

Definitely. It makes your cooldowns faster and your powers more effective. Keep in mind that you can eventually max EVERYTHING out by level 60, unlike in ME2, so it's just a question of what you put points into first. I'd make biotic mastery one of your early priorities, but I like to focus on maxing out a couple powers as the very first thing.

Dark cannel seems like should i use that?

I don't have From Ashes, but I gather that it's a very effective power.

I love having energy drain.

It means I can use singularity more often! I just love singularity.

Also it restores my barriers. Given that adepts lack hit points, constantly spamming this power keeps barriers up.

Also energy drain + warp/throw/shockwave = tech burst. Not as powerful as a biotic explosion but pretty cool.

Max Throw and team up with Liara, Kaidan and/or Javik and you can detonate every 2-3 seconds. Nothing else is needed, everything will die in no time at all.

I've only played sp once and used the adept. Insanity was a cakewalk unfortunately so I wont be running it again with that class. On top of the advice already given it's worth mentioning that maxing biotic mastery is a good investment. The final evolution gives enhanced cooldowns on your biotics after detonations which will improve your efficiency.

Adept build-

For unprotected enemies, you want Pull with the radius increase, extra damage % to lifted targets, and double pull evolutions. Once the enemy is flying then you detonate with double Throw (be sure you took the detonate evolution for more force/damage).

For shielded or armored enemies, you want to lead with Warp. Make sure you have the detonate, expose, and pierce evolutions. Follow with double throw for BIG detonations.

Bonus power for adept...

First playthrough, I did Stasis Bubble. When things got thick on the London Mission, I was just getting swarmed from too many angles, and the cooldown was too long.

I reloaded and switched to Energy Drain, and it worked great. I could drop enemy shields/barriers more easily,
and if I was careful, I could save my cooldown for when I needed to move through an area while exposed to enemy fire, then right when shields were going down, boom! They recharge to full. I still took some hits
when facing massed fire from multiple angles, but I was never in danger of needing medi-gel to survive.

I was still wishing I had more in the way of defense, and more importantly, I wanted it to be passive and
not require saving my cooldowns. I tried out Defense Matrix with full 30% damage reduction, and was very pleased. I took armor that was all about shield bonuses (Sentry Interface, and all the Kassa Armor), and
with my Fitness passive, and the Defense Matrix Bonus to reduce shield recharge delay, and with James and Kaiden squad bonuses to shields/health and shield recharge.... I was a juggernaut. Over 1200
shields, with 30% damage reduction, and if breached, they recharged super-fast. Best of All, the cooldown hit from Defense matrix was negligible with the Combo Mastery Bonus. And I still had the purge
ability to refresh shields if things got nasty.

Defense matrix was the most fun out of my adept playthroughs. I highly recommend trying it out.

Also, dont be concerned too much with Power Damage bonuses for your adept. Biotic Combo Detonation damage is not based on power damage, and doesn't include power damage bonuses. It is based purely on the rank of the source and detonation powers, and only adds bonuses from power evolutions that specifically affect combo detonations (like warp and throw evolutions).

Double Pull/Double Throw is a super fast detonation combo that massacres hordes of unprotected enemies.

Warp/Double Throw will handle protected enemies quite nicely.

Defense Matrix with shield boosting armor and sqadmates will handle your defensive needs.

James is also an excellent squadmate because he can give the whole squad explosive ammunition. Even at 50% effect, my Adept was chewing up baddies with his Geth Pulse Rifle (extended barrel and AP mods) and his
Tempest SMG (ultralight material and thermal capacitor mods).

Naw dude, use Reave instead of Stasis. And team up with Liara/ kaidan and javik

If you've ever played the mp with the drell adept or asari justicar, you'll know that's the best choice.

If not... Reave drains the health of the enemy, plus gives you damage protection and you can easily detonate it with throw ;).

I know because I just finished the game with an adept and that's how i did it. A lot easier that playing with an infiltrator...

Roll with garrus and liara. Spam liaras singularity, your pull or singularity(I take double area pull), and detonate with double throw all day. Garrus overloads shield guys. Warp + throw on bosses.

Extremely easy mode.

Singularity + throw is amazing in SP as it's a very fast combo and most enemies don't have shields or armor even on insanity.

Singularity and pull are kind of terrible in MP but in SP they are amazing,

Stasis on the other hand is great in MP but crap in SP, no point in taking more than 1 or 2 points in it for liara.

I took defence matrix as my bonus power, it's nice to get your shields back whenever I want If I had kaidan I'd take reave though. Give liara warp squad ammo for a great ammo power without having to have it as a bonus power.

Adept was so easy on Insanity. Just take Liara and Javik with you, spec them both for cooldown, and you'll be setting off biotic explosions like a mad man. Harvesters cry in a corner, Brutes and Ravagers don't stand a chance, Banshees teleport around while confused, and Atlases can never move. Take Energy Drain as your bonus power and you're set. For those times when you're forced to take a certain squad member I prefer Liara as my biotic buddy since her cooldowns are faster than Javik's.

Spam as much as you can. Get all recharge speed bonuses you can. Biotic explosions will be all over, each doing enough damage (even on Insanity) to take out most health-only enemies. If biotic explosion upgrades are available when cool down ones aren't, get those.

Use Liara's Singularity. Then Throw on unprotected mooks. Warp + Throw on protected ones. You don't really need anything else.
Instead of Shep's Singularity you can put your points into Statis Bubble, just for more cc, but I don't think it's necessary.
I'll probably go for a protective bonus power (Fortification) just for being able of moving around a little.

Unlike most I don't use Liara when I play an Adept. I spam Pull + Throw for biotic explosions on mooks, and Warp + Throw against boss types. I prefer to take squadmates that do things Shep can't rather than just duplicating what he can. Purely personal preference though.

Since I like to do a healthy amount of shooting, I most often take Warp Ammo for my bonus power.
