Anyway, having 3 bad people on the team is not a good thing. Especially when it comes to Hack objectives, and especially when I'm using a squishy character such as the Asari Adept. I need at least one not-so-bad player who helps me a bit, otherwise, it will be a very long match (and an impossible one, should wave10 be a hacking).

People that don't use their rockets on wave 10 gold should stay the hell out of punlic matches.
Yeah, like that's ever gonna happen

Plus, even if a player has a reasonable build, and they aren't using an outright bizarre loadout, there's no way to know if they aren't just drunk/stoned off their ass and completely worthless.
I'm tired of having gold matches ruined by terrible players dragging us down. Feeling like you're destined for failure purely due to someone elses actions brings on a sense of helplessness that I did NOT pay to experience.
That said, it's just so hard to determine whether someone is going to pull their own weight during the match, these discussions tend to go nowhere. For every "Why the hell would an Adept use a sniper rifle?" thread, there's a dude posting a video of himself soloing gold with an equally absurd layout.

I generally avoid giving tips about the weight system, tactics, and effective power combos though because people are sensitive and get butthurt over everything.

If you suck, does not matter if event is on, stay where you regularly play rather then be a burden to those who are "more skilled"
I think BW should introduce tier events, so Gold players get the best, but Bronze players can get something to, so they don't rush into gold and create issues.

So Bronze/Silver players shouldn't even try to get their commendation packs ?
Thats exactly what im saying.
The games been out for ages now, you should have learned how to play.
Or if youve only just bought the game, then ask one of the fine upstanding citizens on here to let you join their private game.
But just stay the hell out of public matches
how exactly can you lrn2play gold when you never try it for the first time. Some people haven't had the game for ages and aren't as awesome as you apparently are. Do yourself a favor and stop posting b/c you apparently aren't very good at it, better yet don't try anything new EVER kthnx
Oh and you might want to get a clue what the difference between public and private matches are, just because you have no friends that want to take you to gold because you're bad....doesn't mean you should harass all the other people in public matches

to add to that i understand that ppl want to play gold an heck you should try to get a group to help you with it to get the commendation pack but there's bronze and silver for a reason ppl. I dont play gold all the time personally since i still have limited skill/weaponary for it so i play in silver with the classes im not good at. Tip if you want to play gold without experience and weapons just play asari adept keep your head down and set up explosions this can be done by pretty much anyone regardless of skill.
if you would use punctuation besides periods, capitalize your letters, and use proper grammar, people might bother to read your posts.

I generally dislike carrying other players, but if they all have mics and can communicate with me, then it's notably less annoying to have to do so.

see, that's one problem. The bronze players that join gold matches, suck, and don't have mics. They can't even take tips from the gold players (which is how they learn) if they don't have mic enabled.
Communication is a very important part of this game (the designers of the game said so, so... screw anyone who argues with that) and without it, it lowers your chances of a successfull mission drastically.

Communication is key in anything just because you have a mic doesn't mean you're gonna do any better than if you don't. If you can't see a dead partner and go to rez him doubt someone screaming HELP HELP HELP in the mic is gonna help much.
and I'd much rather have a person with no mic rather than the ones that feel the need to have the mic in their mouths while they eat the whole damn time.

the problem is that you guys aren't willing to challenge yourselves by being the "team leader" so to speak. If someone isn't as good as you, you just want them to go away. Well why don't you just play your own matches alone if you're always going to complain about people not being as good as you?
If you're really as good as a lot of gold players brag they are, then you should be able to carry the team even with the worst classes and weapons. None of you guys "own" mass effect, you can't just block other players from playing gold on multiplayer. After all, that's how they learn and get better. I was a noob once, too, and the way I got better was from jumping from normal on mass effect 2 to insanity on mass effect 2. Sure, I sucked really bad at first, but now I'm good enough to play in gold no problem.
The campaign of this game and the multiplayer have very different play styles, and the only way for a less skilled player to get better is for them to play on a harder difficulty. It doesn't help when instead of encouraging them, there's just a bunch of jerks telling them to leave.
In summary: You guys are jerks. Encourage them, don't tell them to get out. It's understandable when they don't have a mic, but when they do, then communicate with them, give them tips, help them as much as you can.
Just because you post threads like this doesn't mean they'll leave. They're going to keep coming, so cowboy up and take it like shepard would. Help them!
quit being jerks and talking about how "skilled" you are if you can't carry the team and help when they need help.
And for those of you "elitists" who don't have microphones: Get them, and then help the people who do. It makes a big difference. My first gold match on here was with another gold regular with a mic, and he gave me tips when he could, and it changed my entire playstyle. It really does make a difference.
Now I'm out, this is a stupid discussion anyways, run by people who only want what's best for them.

maybe not, but sometimes somebody telling you that you have a phantom behind you could save the entire match. I've played with teams that communicate, and the matches have gone a lot smoother and we've gotten full extraction multiple games in a row due to that. It makes a huge difference.

I cant be the only person that thinks elitism is only brought on by people attempting gold when theyre not ready.
I appreciate there are people on this forum that dedicate themselves to helping poor players in gold matches. But i dont see why the rest of us should have to put up with the constant slew of uncapable players that are pouring into gold all the time, and not just during operation weekends.
There isnt a system in place for stopping people with low N7s or low level characters playing gold, which is fine. There are plently of good players who level up their characters in gold, if they know they can handle it theres nothing wrong with that.
But people who dont have the experience or skill are still playing gold all the time. Its partly FBWGGs fault, partly the unlock systems fault, and party the fault of people ensuring poor players can play gold if they "keep practicing".
Practice in silver until youre ready for gold and stop making our gold games more of a pain in the arse than they have to be.
So, just to recap.
Please stay out of gold if you dont have the experience and skill to contribute to the teams effort.
If youre a good player, please stop telling poor players to give gold a go. If you really want to train them up then play a private game.
Thank you
Dear Bamford38,
You are not the boss of me. You do not own Mass Effect. If you don't want random people to play in "your" Gold matches, why don't you play a private match? People can play in any type of match they like. If you don't like it, you can leave.
Thank you,
Hahaha..... Yeah, this.

People can say elitists are bad, or im a douche all they want. But you all know im right.
Everyone at some point has been stuck on a team with an inferior player, and i bet you didnt all go"they suck, i had better help them out". The majority would curse them out, let them bleed out when they went down for the 15th time, or simply kick them when they got back in the lobby.
Im just trying to advice the bad players to stay out of games that are beyond their skill level.
Im doing a public service really, you should all be thanking me.
I don't know if you play well or not, my gut tells me you THINK you are a lot better then you are, I do, however know now that as a person.....you suck.
I hope no one ever treats you as poorly as you have obviously treated others.
