I appreciate there are people on this forum that dedicate themselves to helping poor players in gold matches. But i dont see why the rest of us should have to put up with the constant slew of uncapable players that are pouring into gold all the time, and not just during operation weekends.

There isnt a system in place for stopping people with low N7s or low level characters playing gold, which is fine. There are plently of good players who level up their characters in gold, if they know they can handle it theres nothing wrong with that. 
But people who dont have the experience or skill are still playing gold all the time. Its partly FBWGGs fault, partly the unlock systems fault, and party the fault of people ensuring poor players can play gold if they "keep practicing".
Practice in silver until youre ready for gold and stop making our gold games more of a pain in the arse than they have to be.

So, just to recap.

Please stay out of gold if you dont have the experience and skill to contribute to the teams effort.

If youre a good player, please stop telling poor players to give gold a go. If you really want to train them up then play a private game.

this complaining about elitism is getting ridiculous. i play gold most of the time that im on. can i solo gold? absolutely not, can i have a succesful gold match with a team of 4 people that are decent at gold? yes. i almost always kick or leave the lobby when i see sub 120s and dumb loadouts, why? cuz i'm not good at carrying a ****ty team through an entire game, if i have to i will solo the second half of a couple of the waves during the game, but if i have to do it more than a couple of times i just die, if i wanted to try soloing i would be doing that instead. just last night i joined a lobby that was all under 120, figured hell lets give them a chance, by the time the loading screen came up i knew we were screwed, then the map loads and the host says this isnt the map i wanted (glacier against reapers, he picked it himself), halfway through wave 2 and already all 3 of them are down, and they're saying over the mics that i should just die too, ignoring them i finish the wave, wave 3 we get 4 objectives, all 3 of them are down by the time i cap the first objective, gee thanks for the help guys, i wandered into a group of enemies shortly after and died, left as soon as i hit the lobby. next lobby i join all in the 300s, we get through the game well enough with randoms, i'm in 4th place but only 15k points behind first, and i woulda been closer if i had used my missiles at the end like they did. thats the kinda team i like being with, if im in first by more than 30k points, my team sucks and needs to practice.

and for all of you saying that noobs need to learn how hard gold is somehow, do what i did, join a gold game with a group of friends, dont do pubs. when i started doing gold, neither me or any of my friends had played gold before, so it was hard as hell. took us a night to figure out how to beat it, but we did

The thing is, there might be great players out there with a low N7 rank or even a ****ty gun, but what's the first thing we usually do if we see both? Kick them. It's unfortunate, but I've been playing with a few high level N7 people randomly and they seriously weren't that good. N7 rank and weapons don't make you a great player.

A few thoughts...

Sometimes I use what consensus says is a less-optimal weapon loadout because I've tried various combinations on bronze/silver before trying it on gold, and for me, with my controls, reaction speed, that class, etc. it works better for me (e.g. the GPR; I could have a character with a more "impressive" weapon, but I would play worse, so how would that help my teammates?).

The best players I played with have improved the skills and performance of their teammates - i.e. used their microphones for something useful and raised the calibre of my (and the others) play accordingly. Things along the lines of "the rest of you stay put, the infiltrator will do the hacking", when down for the wave and in spectator mode actually panning around an active player and saying "run forward, you have a brute coming up behind you", etc. That is, they were skilled AND they improved the performance of those playing with them (e.g. me; in another case "what's he doing going to the LZ now, too soon...").

When I'm playing with someone like that who's not only not being an a** but is trying to be helpful - costs them nothing but shows they're making some effort - I'll make an effort to heal even if risky and I use medigels to heal my own character, use medigels to ensure full extraction even though I already have it this weekend, use rockets (if I remember, not in habit of doing so), etc. because team spirit like that should be encouraged.

Gold is for experienced players looking for a challenge. If you're still finding silver a challenge why exactly would you ever think you're ready for gold?

I wouldn't even consider myself elitist, but there's simply some levels of inexperience and inadequacy in gold that is not acceptable and frankly is taking the ******.

I will play gold tonight just to annoying you and the likes of you. 1) I never said i could solo gold, so i dont know where you got that from.

2) Do you even realise how to play this game? You can fail just before extraction if you want. But im gonna stop playing after i get the cash in wave 10. So knock yourself out.
